Omaha, NE—Going on now at El Museo Latino, Aliento a Tequila, a collection of photography by Joel Salcido. Aliento a Tequila, or the Spirit of Tequila, explores and celebrates the landscape, culture, and traditions that gave birth to tequila, Mexico’s mestizo national drink. Like champagne or cognac from France, tequila is synonymous with the region, Jalisco, Mexico.

Omaha—Jazz on the Green closes next week with award-winning singer, songwriter, and saxophonist, Curtis Stigers. Known for multiple best-selling albums, Stigers was multi-instrumentalist from early on, playing classical, jazz, and even punk music. Before long, Stigers found himself living in New York City.

Omaha, NE—Omaha Symphony returns this weekend with a diverse repertoire. The orchestra welcomes back Bulgarian conductor and Music Director of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, Stilian Kirov. The concert will feature mostly American composers, including Eric Ewazen, Walter Piston, and William Grant Still, but also Haydn.

Omaha, NE—Refocus Omaha, a project started by members of Leadership Omaha class 43, in partnership with BFF Omaha, invites locals to participate in a city-wide visual storytelling project. It showcases unique perspectives from Omaha’s diverse communities via images posted on the @refocusomaha Instagram page.

Omaha, NE—Project Project gallery, usually alight with activity on Vinton second Fridays, has only been able to feature limited programming over the last few months due to COVID 19. They are now opening their doors again this Friday, albeit taking some necessary safety precautions. Project Project will open Two Trick Pony, featuring paintings by Nick Clark. Clark has studied many traditions, but he’s currently exploring post-digital pop art.

The Bemis Center opened their new LOW END performance space
not too long before the spread of COVID-19, but that’s not stopping the show.
Performances are continuing virtually, and this week, Dustin Bushon will
perform, going by FXTHR^. He will be working with visual artist, Alex Myers.
Coming from a heavy metal background, Bushon has an affection for loud noise.

Omaha, NE—Vesper Concert’s performance season continues into the new year, beginning with solo pianist, Kate Campbell. For over 30 years, Vesper Concerts has hosted some of the most notable contemporary performers, featuring every period of music from the most modern to the medieval. Campbell has received glowing praise from Bay Area publications and has worked with the likes of UC Berkely and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, but there’s another reason she’s a special guest of Vesper Concerts. She was born and raised in Omaha and the first to perform at Vesper as part of their new Nebraska’s Own series.
Omaha, NE—Project Project Gallery on Vinton Street opens a new exhibition tonight, LoopHole, from Des Moines artist, Rachel Buse. Working mostly in sculpture, Buse shies away from more classical metal and clay, preferring fabric. Gallery Co-founder, Joel Damon, has described her flexible, colorful patchwork objects as a “Macy’s Parade nightmare.”
