Description

America is divided, and it always has been. We're going back to the moment when that split turned into war. This is Uncivil: Gimlet Media's new history podcast, hosted by journalists Jack Hitt and Chenjerai Kumanyika. We ransack the official version of the Civil War, and take on the history you grew up with. We bring you untold stories about covert operations, corruption, resistance, mutiny, counterfeiting, antebellum drones, and so much more. And we connect these forgotten struggles to the political battlefield we’re living on right now.

I LOVE this show and miss it! Bring it back guyssss! lol Also, I love how people are presented with the facts and still choose to toot their noses up and believe lies because it makes them feel better. And don't forget the "this race stuff again?!?" people, like this whole country wasn't founded on discrimination on the basis of race. Those guys are silly. lol

wow, it's amazing how people can spin words in such a way to make southerners look like evil racist slave holders. pfft. of course it wasn't right, but I really dislike all the negative things said about the rebel army. Right or wrong, 100s of thousands of boys died for what they saw as an injustice, like the revolutionary war. Shouldn't shame or put them down so harshly. I think their lives were retribution enough, don't need to put them down further... "The history books are always written by the victors..." idk who said it.The Democrats were voting for slavery and Republicans against...

David IDidntKnowThisWasPublic funny you can't handle facts of the inhumanity of slavery. Fuck the Confederates, fuck anyone who'd fight for slavery.

Episode "The Deed" is unbelievable, carpetbagging bullshit that has happen to "Netty" Evans. I am a bankruptcy and real estate paralegal. Please authors of this podcast put me in contact with her. I have worked with clients against scammers likd that and corrupted attorneys that should be disbarred. She can sue for all of her taxes paid and sue the attorney that "represented" her, starting with filing a complaint with the state bar, at the very least. I use the term represented very very lightly. Also, several judges and country clerks from that area have been prosecuted for corruption. AGAIN, please contact me! paralegalcontact@gmail.com
