Description

My new podcast 'Under The Skin' asks: what's beneath the surface - of people we admire, of the ideas that define our time, of the history we are told. Speaking with guests from the world of academia, popular culture and the arts, they'll help us to see the ulterior truth behind our constructed reality. And have a laugh.

Brené Brown is the author of five #1 New York Times bestseller books, her TED talk has over 40 million views, making it one of the most viewed ever and she has new special on Netflix called “The Call To Courage”. She is an expert researcher in vulnerability, courage and shame. It’s one of my favourite conversations I think I’ve ever had. If it’s spiritual wisdom you want, listen to this episode with Brené Brown. If you’re not on Luminary app yet, make sure to sign up to get one month free and you’ll be able to listen to all the latest Under The Skin episodes. Sign up here: http://luminary.link/russell
This week I spoke to David Lynch. We discussed transcendental meditation, Vedic philosophy, the lessons he has learned from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and the effect spirituality has had on his life.
This week’s podcast discusses everything from anxiety, addiction and the effect fame has on the human psyche to post-structuralism and the myth of the goddess. A very open and frank conversation and hopefully one that you can relate to.
Author and spiritual teacher Byron Katie is on the podcast this week. Byron Katie is the creator of “The Work” - a program that teaches you to free yourself from suffering. If you want to learn more about your role in relationships and confrontations, how to understand your negative thought patterns and how to train yourself to think clearly and without pain - give this a listen, Byron Katie is a fantastic teacher. We even do some of The Work during the podcast, where Katie helps me work through a recent resentment.Let us know what you thought of this week’s episode on Twitter (@rustyrockets) or Instagram (@trewrussellbrand).

I’ve been QueerEyed!!! Me and Karamo Brown have done a podcast and it was magic. Karamo is a fantastic psychotherapist, commentator and counsellor. We spoke about Karamo’s journey and the many challenges he has faced and overcome, how he and the Fab 5 were chosen for Queer Eye, how to maintain healthy relationships with others and yourself and he did a little bit of therapy on me too! Please enjoy and let us know what you thought of it on social media.
Derren and I spoke about stoicism, the psychology of socio-political standpoints, faith healing, how we frame suffering, relationships and...there is a great story about a parrot at the end.
David Runciman is author of "How Democracy Ends" and host of the Talking Politics podcast. We spoke about what the function of democracy is, the significance of the generational divide when voting, the relationship between corporations and government, anarcho-syndacalism & the rise of populism.

this whole thing reminds me of the Orwell quote "there's some things so stupid only an intellectual could say them". This is just a series of arguments from the Frankfurt school playbook. I agree with all the problems they highlight their solutions are just wrong. Marcuse came up with this idea of living under capitalist fascism, it's nonsense

Some of these arguments are just not backed up by and real world examples. community depends on relying on the state to give you things for free? no community depends on neighbors having a feeling responsibility to each other, for help, for security, for work, community suffers if you outsource responsibility to the state, clearly community life has declined as state intervention has grown, not the only cause but it's big one.

I came here for Jordan, and was pleasantly surprised by Russell's charm, knowledge, strength of character, and openness. He just turned me into a fan, to my dismay, because I really disliked his stand up. I think he's clearly found a niche he can flourish through.

Good chat as always mate. I am still gobsmacked that after all of your belief and preaching of helping under privileged people and helping those that are worse off than yourself that you are going to charge people worse off than yourself for accessing this information😓😓 You once helped us learn more and live better and now your cashing in on it. I thought you were different but obviously you need more and more and more money than the other 99.99% of us

Mick Becker I agree , can't believe he has moved to lumi- bollocks premium. Gutted. Less audience who will pay for the privelage. I recommend "The blindboy podcast" as an alternative. Russell although you will never read this I will still say I am confused and disappointed. I also keep thinking "What a cunt".

Hi Russel, Luminary podcasts are available only in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia - too bad! https://castbox.fm is better - available all over the world. Please consider changing. Greetings from India.

Russell knew her only purpose to come on the show was to promote her books. writing over 100 books for business purposes and cash flow was this womans priority. The woman cant even exhibit true emotion so she masks herself with hyper sensitivity and anxiousness. russell sees through the mask that is why he jokes and interrupts her constantly. listen to the podcast again and truly listen to her voice. Our self being is governed by sound resonance. You need to experience that energy in order seperate the truth from the fraudulant. She even put down her son in the interview for no reason. Sorry but this womans books have to collect dust on the shelves.
