SEASON 07 WILL BEGIN FRIDAY JULY 28TH

Unexplained is a haunting and unsettling bi-weekly podcast about strange and mysterious real life events that continue to evade explanation. A story-based show mixing spoken-word narrative, history and ideas - often to terrifying effect - that explores the space between what we think of as real and what is not; where sometimes belief can be as concrete as ‘reality,’ whatever that is…

SEASON 9 BEGINS FRIDAY OCTOBER 31ST This week's episode takes us to a windswept island off the coast of Nova Scotia in Canada, where in the summer of 1795, three young men made a discovery that would haunt generations to come.  What began as idle curiosity about a depression in the earth would ignite an obsession that has endured for over two centuries. Since that fateful day, Oak Island has drawn treasure hunters, engineers, and dreamers from around the world, each convinced they can succeed where countless others have failed. But the island seems to guard its secrets jealously, and those who seek to uncover them find themselves confronting something far more complex and mysterious than they ever imagined… Find us at youtube.com/@unexplainedpod, tiktok.com/@unexplainedpodcast, twitter @unexplainedpod, facebook.com/unexplainedpodcast or www.unexplainedpodcast.com for more info. SEASON 9 BEGINS FRIDAY OCTOBER 31ST This week's rerun is perhaps the most disturbing story I’ve covered on Unexplained. Back in the 1970s, in the quiet North English town of Ossett, an ordinary family found themselves drawn into a world that was anything but. What began as a struggle with doubt, faith, and the weight of daily life soon took on a darker shape, as strange behaviors and unsettling visions began to erode one man’s fragile sense of normality... The small American town of Van Meter in Iowa is the kind of town that some might derisively describe as one that epitomises the fly-over states - a place of little importance or standing.  They imagine nothing of interest ever happens. But not only would that do an immense disservice to its people - they would be very wrong. In 1903 something paid a visit to Van Meter, and its brief presence would mark the town forever... In the summer of 1963, three miners were trapped by a cave-in for days on end with no food or light. Some say it was a miracle that any of them survived at all. They called it the most inescapable prison in the United States — a cold, isolated fortress surrounded by frigid waters and razor currents. Alcatraz. But in 1962, that reputation was obliterated in one of the most audacious prison breaks of all time. Or was it... In 1993, a group of rafters paddling through the Siberian wilderness of the Khamar Daban mountains came across a teenage girl, caked in mud and blood. Due to the recent arrival of another mini MacLean Smith, the next new episode will be with you next Friday on June 13th…  In the meantime, we’re heading back into the vault for this week’s episode, going all the way back to the beginning of Season 02.  England’s Black Country, a region just west of Birmingham is considered one of the birth places of the British industrial revolution. It’s centered around a 30 ft-wide and unusually shallow coal seam – a product of once living trees, compressed and buried for millions of years, returning to the surface like an irrepressible secret. There are some who say the trees can talk. If they could, what secrets might they hold? This is Unexplained Season 2 Episode 01: Whispers in the Trees, in full for the first time. For many there is one place in particular that continues to fascinate like no other in the UK. With its combination of mystery, intrigue and atmospheric location you couldn’t concoct a better setting, the place: Boleskine House. Wow. I'm glad that Mclain-Smith is getting the attention he deserves but goddamn that's a lot of ads. He's really cashing in. Also, after waiting for the new season I was totally disappointed that the first new episode this year is a story that Lore did years ago. No new info either. It's basically exactly the same story, actually I think Lore did it better.

Is money that tight, Richard? Is the network making you do it? I had to drop out when the adverts suddenly became half the runtime. My loss, I guess, but it's just too obnoxious. Thanks for those good years of brilliant storytelling. Fairwell
