Today's episode brings my friend, Kira, who is like a little sis to me. Kira also shares her new adventure of starting her own business and her reason for success. As my mini me, she also shares an appreciation for getting outside and grounding oneself with nature. We discuss what healthy means to each of us and the importance of staying true to who you are. Additionally, we talk about the importance of ridding ourselves of toxic relationships and that it's ok to cut out family members or friends who don't provide you that peace. We specifically give credit to our moms, Asian immigrants, and how they are the strongest women we know and discuss our dynamics now that we are estranged from our fathers by choice. Chatting with the Minny Hustlers was something I looked forward as they are truly the embodiment of being their true authentic selves and practicing what they preach. What started as a side hustle in sharing their passion for fitness and overall wellness, soon became a phenom many know as Minny Hustlers. These two best friends encounter what building a brand really entails and the importance of doing something you love and are passionate about. Seeing how much they've grown this side hustle on top of their careers is my definition of bada$$ boss babe vibes. This was definitely a fun interview getting to know these genuine hustlers and also fellow Tommies (ROLL TOM!). SHOW NOTES: The book mentioned throughout the episode, aka the hustlers' fitness bible, "Thinner Leaner Stronger: The Simple Science of Building the Ultimate Female Body" by Michael Matthews can be found here. My first solo…episode! I ramble about relationships and some key things for people to do when dealing with a break up. I share my personal insights on what helps move forward and heal. Loving yourself first is the most important.
Longtime friend and fellow co-chairs of multiple clubs in high school with me, David Held, shares the importance of being your true authentic self and how loving yourself is the foundation needed before loving someone else. He takes us through his journey of studio cycle to hip replacement to giving advice on allowing yourself to be you. David provides great advice and insight for those on their own journey and how mental health is just as important as physical health.
Owners and friends, Alex and Hung, discuss how Vital Apparel evolved and the message they hope to get across on the importance of mental health and fitness. Brothers Jack and Sam Plant, take us through their health journeys and the motivation they provide for each other, healthy competition and what it’s like to share a passion for health with a sibling. They open up about their own experience with anxiety and that it’s ok for other men to work on their mental health. Witty banter and encouragement allows each of them to reach their goals and doesn’t stop them from helping others in the gym community to feel confident.
Health coach and model, Sophia, walks us through the day and a life of modeling. She discusses what others assume it entails and what actually happens behind the scenes. She shares her journey of what goes into this info and common misconceptions.
My sweet little cousin who is not so little anymore joins me today in an extremely raw conversation of the struggles we’ve both faced with mental health and how we cope. We also discuss our family and how mental was perceived growing up and what it meant to acknowledge we need help and to learn how to heal. The more we talk, the more we realize how much we’ve been dealing with it without knowing either of us were struggling. The stigma on mental health is real so let’s continue fighting the stigma. If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health, there are sources out there. Know you are not alone in your journey.
