Description

If you've been following this podcast from the beginning, we will have explored together the stories and insights of incredible individuals who have reached that magical tipping point of moving from striving to being in flow.

Over a hundred episodes have featured interviews with inspiring business owners, philanthropists, thought leaders and game changers. The wisdom shared by these amazing guests became the foundation for my third bestselling book, Be Brilliant.

However, along this journey, something interesting happened. Many of you have reached out and asked for more. More of my story, more of my business journey and more of what I have learnt. Surprisingly, there has also been a demand for more solo episodes.

Although it’s much easier to put the spotlight on someone else, I’ve decided to take the advice of a wise individual who once told me to "do it scared." So here I am, doing it scared, with a simple intention to serve you by sharing what I have learnt.

Buckle up, my friends. It’s going to be a wild ride as I share the messy, beautiful journey of how I got where I am. Here's to doing it scared. Here’s to the unexpected. And here's to unleashing the brilliance within each and every single one of us.

And that whisper is worth more than any data point you'll ever analyse. Most leaders ignore their built-in strategy engine because we've been taught to trust everything except ourselves. We outsource our knowing to consultants, frameworks and endless analysis when the answer is often sitting right there in that gut feeling we keep dismissing. The real rebel move? Stop outsourcing your knowing and turn that gut flicker, that shower thought, that 3 AM wake-up moment into one precise step you can defend in the boardroom. My guest today is the incredible Chandu Bickford, who helps leaders, individuals and organisations navigate pressure with clarity. We're diving into how to make intuition practical, why it matters now more than ever and how using intuition instead of anxiety leads to better decisions and transformational outcomes. Chandu shares her own journey with intuition that began 30 years ago with a life-altering nudge to go to Africa, completely impractical at the time, but a move that became a transformative adventure in teaching her to trust that quiet inner voice. We explore how the noise of the modern world drowns out intuitive whispers, leaving us reactive instead of intentional and why creating moments of quiet is essential for clarity. Chandu talks about her time living in a remote Tanzanian village, where she learnt invaluable lessons about leadership, resilience and adaptability that she now shares with leaders tired of running on empty and ready to lead from a place of clarity.Chandu encourages a simple practice: pause, breathe deeply and ask yourself "What would I love?" This question, posed in tranquillity, can unlock incredible insights you didn't even know were there. We invite you to explore this intuitive path and let your intuition be the hidden advantage in your leadership toolkit, because life's best decisions are often the ones whispered by that inner compass we've been trained to ignore.LINKS:Connect with Chandu:Website: https://chandubickford.com/ Instagram: @chandubickfordLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/chandu-bickford-9b85a6141/ Connect with Janine:Elevate with JanineThe Focus Finder AssessmentWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate Masterminda...

Ghosting. It’s frustrating, it’s awkward and it can leave you questioning your value. But here’s the truth: you don’t need to slash your prices or chase after people who aren’t ready. You just need a smarter way to turn that silence into your next opportunity. The GHOST Framework: Your Comeback PlanIn this episode, I share how to respond when you get ghosted without losing your cool or your confidence. It’s just information. By showing up with clarity, boundaries and a focus on real outcomes, you can turn that silence into stronger client relationships. Remember, you are not here to chase and convince people to work with you. You are in the business of partnership. Here’s your challenge for this week: reach out to someone who’s gone quiet with a “Yes, No, or Not Now” message. Celebrate any response because clarity is always a win. And if this episode hits home, share it with someone who needs a boost. Yet amidst the technical cacophony, there's a crucial narrative that's often missed: the timeless art of storytelling. How do we cut through the chaos to make meaningful connections when the personal is getting overshadowed by the automated? I sit down with Gabrielle Dolan, storytelling expert, bestselling author, and dear friend, to explore her newest book Story Intelligence and discuss mastering the craft of authentic storytelling amidst the buzz of AI.Gabrielle passionately argues that while AI can mimic and generate content, it cannot replace the uniqueness of our lived experiences, personal voices and those charming quirks that define us. We explore how AI should be viewed as a creative ally rather than a replacement, helping us find and refine stories without overshadowing our authentic voice. The aim isn't bland uniformity but leveraging AI to amplify our personal truths, especially for entrepreneurs, CEOs and anyone looking to foster deeper connections. The world is rife with distrust across government, organisations, and media, which means authentic storytelling is more crucial than ever. Gabrielle's work reaffirms that our stories are our most powerful assets for building trust and influence, offering realness in a world of manufactured content.LINKS:Connect with GabrielleBook: Story Intelligence: The Craft of Authentic Storytelling, Made Smarter with AIWebsite: https://gabrielledolan.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gabrielledolan/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gabrielledolan.1/ Connect with Janine:Elevate with JanineThe Focus Finder AssessmentWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate MastermindElevate Mastermind

We've been taught to solve problems by adding more - more effort, more resources, more systems. But what if the answer is actually subtraction? I recently sat down with Donna McGeorge, keynote speaker and bestselling author obsessed with helping people reclaim time and space for what really matters. She's written 15 books (five of them bestsellers), her ideas have appeared in Harvard Business Review, Forbes and Fast Company, and she's known for cutting through corporate waffle with sharp truths and practical frameworks. We discussed her latest book Red Brick Thinking and what she shared completely shifted how I think about problem-solving.Donna shares her famous Lego bridge exercise that reveals why we're approaching problems all wrong, and introduces the concept of "addition bias", the tendency that's keeping us overwhelmed despite our best efforts. She explains why creating space doesn't mean doing more, and what we need to let go of instead. We explore the three types of red bricks weighing us down in business and life, and how identifying them creates room for what actually matters. Donna walks through the shift from asking "What can we add?" to a question that changes everything about how you prioritise and make decisions. If you're consumed by busyness, this conversation is your permission slip to stop adding and start subtracting. The space you create might just reveal the opportunities you've been missing.LINKS:Connect with Donna:Website: https://donnamcgeorge.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/donnamcgeorge/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dmcgeorge/Connect with Janine:Elevate with JanineThe Focus Finder AssessmentWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate MastermindElevate Mastermind

But this isn't a fitness story. It's about what happened when we finished five minutes faster than our first attempt, and what that taught me about business. The lesson hit me somewhere between the rowing station and the sled push: we didn't get faster by completely changing our approach. We got faster by refining what already worked.Today we’re exploring why brilliant business owners keep questioning their direction despite smashing results, and why we're obsessed with reinventing the wheel instead of doubling down on what's working. I see this constantly with the women I coach: clients are thrilled, revenue is growing, yet they're still questioning whether they should pivot. Not because something's broken, but because consistency feels too simple.Your business breakthrough isn't hiding in some brand-new strategy you haven't discovered yet. The question is: are you ready to commit to what's already working, or are you going to keep chasing the next shiny object? Interest rates climbing, competition everywhere and every headline screaming "brace for impact!" It's tempting to let that noise dictate your next move, to panic, slash prices or hustle yourself into the ground. But here's what successful businesses do differently: they use uncertainty as their competitive advantage. Whilst everyone else is retreating, you're going to double down strategically.Today, I'm breaking down the four game-changing moves that my clients and I have been making to not just stay afloat, but sail ahead whilst everyone else is anchored in fear. We explore how to laser-focus on your A-grade clients, stacking your value, building recurring revenue and repackaging your existing offerings when clients can't commit to big investments. This isn't the moment to shrink. Your clients need a lighthouse right now, something steady and reliable in the chaos. Remember, the market doesn't get to decide your success. We've all been taught to see imposter syndrome as something to overcome, but today we're exploring a complete reframe. That imposter feeling isn't a red flag—it's a green light urging you forward. I share why the "itus" family (not-good-enough itus, comparison itus, procrastination-fueled-by-fear itus) might actually be your competitive edge.In this episode, we’ll explore the concept of confident humility—that sweet spot where self-belief meets openness to growth. We talk about how your quirks aren't flaws to fix but features to amplify, and I walk you through a practical exercise to transform your perceived negatives into superpowers. The liberation of not being perfect is where the magic happens. When you feel like an imposter, you've got everything to gain and nothing to protect—no perfect image to maintain, no reputation to uphold. This spurs innovation, encourages deeper preparation and fuels relentless learning. That feeling isn't evidence you don't belong; it's evidence you're growing. Imposter syndrome isn't the problem—it's the rocket fuel you never knew you needed. And the question isn't how to eliminate it, but how to harness it.LINKS:Connect with Janine:Elevate with JanineThe Focus Finder AssessmentWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate MastermindElevate Mastermind

I think it’s time to address the uncomfortable truth about pricing that's been lurking in every business strategy session. If you’re undercharging, don’t address it tomorrow or next quarter. It has to stop today. In this episode, I share my own pricing wake-up call and the mindset traps keeping you broke—fear of rejection, good girl conditioning and imposter syndrome. We explore the reframe that changes everything: you're not selling time; you're selling transformation. I walk you through finding your "Goldilocks pricing" and how to raise your prices without apology. The reality? Undercharging isn't modesty—it's self-sabotage. Every time you discount your rates, you're teaching clients how to value you. Your pricing becomes your positioning. The question is: are you pricing based on fear, or based on your brilliance? Your worth isn't negotiable, and your pricing shouldn't be either.LINKS:Connect with Janine:Elevate with JanineThe Focus Finder AssessmentWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate MastermindElevate Mastermind

I've lost track of how many times I've stepped off stage and someone has whispered to me, "I wish I could do what you do." My answer every single time? You can. But it's not by trying to be like me or anyone else—it's by sounding like you.In this episode, we explore why being a copycat makes you invisible in a world already full of same-sounding noise. I share why audiences crave authenticity and can spot a knock-off from miles away, and how embracing your imperfections and quirks is what makes you relatable and engaging. We discuss how your unique voice—whether it's cheeky puns, candour, or playful grit—is actually your superpower in creating an unmistakable personal brand. The digital world doesn't need another clone of someone else—it needs the vibrant aura that's unmistakably you. When you're true to yourself, you're not just delivering content; you're inviting people into a world that only you can create. I challenge you to ask yourself: Do you want to blend in, or do you want to be a glaring point of awesomeness in a dull landscape? Everywhere we turn, there's this call to brace for impact—economic downturns, clients pausing, budgets tightening. And there's that nagging hum of fear we can't quite silence. It's not the dramatic kind, but that persistent whisper of "What if I'm not ready?" or "What if I fail?" Today, we're exploring how to transform that fearful whisper into a motivating force.I share my own journey of overcoming a deep-seated fear that kept me stuck for years, and how one friend's simple suggestion changed everything. Your fear might look different—going live on camera, charging what you're worth or saying yes to that daunting speaking engagement. We explore how bravery isn't about being fearless; it's about making that leap even with your heart hammering in your chest, and how weaving brave steps into your routine turns "I can't" into "I am."The secret that changes everything: fear shuts doors, but curiosity throws them wide open. Instead of "What if I fail?" try asking "What might I learn? What doors might open?" I share real stories from my Elevate Inner Circle—clients who raised their prices without pushback, went from camera-shy to landing speaking gigs, and turned viral stories into new opportunities. Their journeys didn't blossom from the absence of fear, but from turning it into a guiding compass. Your challenge: identify one fear that's been playing safety officer in your life and take one small step to overcome it this week.LINKS:Connect with Janine:Elevate with JanineThe Focus Finder AssessmentWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate MastermindElevate Mastermind

Ten times this, exponential that—meanwhile, you're just trying to keep your head above water. That was exactly what came up in my recent conversation with the brilliant Nicky Miklos. We explored something that's been on my mind lately: how do you make sales and grow your business without losing yourself to the hustle? Here's the thing about smart growth—it's not about chasing every shiny opportunity that comes your way. Nicky put it perfectly: it's about sustainable development that doesn't leave you or your team burnt out and resentful. We're talking about growth that considers the long-term well-being of everyone involved, not just the numbers on your profit and loss statement.Nicky breaks down business growth into three areas that will shift you from being reactive to proactive: Skills, Strategy, and Systems. Then we go through her COMPASS framework to establish sustainable growth systems that support long-term success, rather than short-term hustle. If you're feeling overwhelmed by all the things you should be doing, Nicky's recommendation is beautifully simple: focus on just one thing. Pick one of the three key areas or one element of the Compass framework and refine it before moving on. The idea isn't to overhaul everything at once—that's exactly the kind of thinking that leads to unhealthy hustle. It's the small shifts in mindset and approach that build towards significant transformation. They loved your energy, called you inspiring and you walked away thinking, "This could be something amazing." But then... nothing. Radio silence. Another lovely conversation that leads absolutely nowhere whilst your calendar stays frustratingly empty. In this episode, we're tackling the uncomfortable truth: you're probably brilliant at building connections but not quite as good at converting them. The problem isn't that people don't value you—it's that you never invite them to go deeper. They're actually waiting for you to show them how. I share the story of a client who was having amazing conversations but freezing at the critical moment of transition. Once she shifted from fear of appearing salesy to simply extending a gracious invitation, she gained two new clients within a week. What you need isn't more connections; it's conversion.I'm sharing five practical strategies for moving into a more human-to-human sales approach that feels authentic, beautiful and even fun. We'll explore how to be crystal clear about your value, lead with curiosity over pitching, create inviting opportunities, follow up with grace and show up as your true self. I like to think of it as finding someone who wants to dance with me—not selling, but seeing if we're meant to move together. The critical voice that questions every decision, second-guesses every success, and whispers "maybe I'm not ready" when opportunity knocks. But here's what changes everything: making the worth shift. It's the moment you stop listening to that inner critic and start trusting the voice that got you this far—the one that knows your value isn't up for debate.Often we doubt our value and ask, "Why would anyone want to talk to me?" even when our achievements speak volumes. But when you step into your power and show up with authenticity and conviction, the game changes. It's time to stop questioning your worth and start embracing it. Own your capabilities with conviction and stop seeking permission. Your pricing should reflect mastery, not fear of losing a client. The clients who align to your pricing are the people that you want to serve and the people that value you. It's about positioning yourself as the expert that you are.So here's my challenge to you. What's one action you can take this week to show up in your power? Maybe it's that phone call you've been avoiding, saying no to an opportunity that doesn't fit, or finally having that brave conversation. Whatever it is, seize it. Clients seem hesitant, projects stall and social media's doing its own thing. I found myself recently, mid-conversation with my dog, questioning what I even control anymore. That little existential moment led to today's reflection: reclaiming your power. Let’s talk about how to grow a brilliant business – even when the world's a bit nuts.In this episode, I dive deep into Stephen Covey's concept of the three concentric circles of concern, influence and control—a framework that's been my guide through some of the murkiest moments of my business journey. We explore the Circle of Concern, where we lose sleep over things like the economy and client ghosting but can't actually control any of it. Then we move to the Circle of Influence, where it gets exciting—leveraging your energy to make a real difference without expecting total control. Finally, we reach the Circle of Control, where true magic happens and you decide how you show up, what you say yes to and what you decline.Every moment presents a choice: succumb to chaos or ground yourself in clarity. When you prioritise powerfully, you build unstoppable momentum. So here's my challenge for you: decide on one action you have complete control over and take it. Start small if you must, but reclaim focus from frustration.I’d love you to share your action with me. Message me, tag me in a post or send a note by Carrier Pigeon if you must. And if this episode struck a chord, share it with someone who might need a push in taking back their power too. Today, I'm sharing someone truly extraordinary—Fleur Marks, a force of nature who has redefined what it means to live, lead and leave a legacy. We dive deep into a topic that touches so many of us: burnout, and what happens when life forces us to completely redefine success.Fleur was once at the pinnacle of corporate success, ticking off every box that defined high performance. But success began to feel hollow and unfulfilling, and her life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with a terminal illness. From boardrooms to what she calls the 'Waiting Room of Death,' Fleur's journey has been about radical acceptance and discovering what truly matters most.In our conversation, Fleur shares how she discovered a new kind of brilliance in that waiting room, realising that real success didn't lie in achievements alone, but in the ability to live each day fully with self-compassion and purpose. She opens up about transforming from a driven executive to a woman defined by intentionality, and how she's built a life where ambition and self-care coexist. Whether it's through silent Japanese tea ceremonies or simply wearing sequins to add sparkle to her day, Fleur's practice of finding joy and balance is a testament to her resilience. For those of us juggling work, family and the seemingly endless checklist of life, Fleur's journey is a powerful reminder that we don't have to wait for a crisis to start living differently. Her work now focuses on guiding leaders through their own journeys, helping them reset and refocus by embracing vulnerability and authenticity. This conversation will challenge you to ask yourself: Are you truly leading a life that matters to you? Have you defined what success means on your terms? I'm bringing this episode back because this topic is more relevant than ever. Getting sales proposals over the line is still tough, and clients are ghosting us entirely. If you missed this the first time around, now's your chance to dive in!The constantly evolving business world means those sales meetings we know so well require a completely different approach. Today, we're exploring three key strategies that will help you convert your audience into clients and get them coming back for more.Strategy 1: Delivering Value - The Magic PillWhat challenges are you hearing from potential clients? I share how to tune in and listen so you can find the "magic pill" that provides immediate value.Strategy 2: Achieving Results - Immediate ActionPotential clients are questioning whether we can deliver results. I reveal how to showcase your ability through quick wins rather than just talking about what you offer.Strategy 3: Building Confidence - Empowering ClientsThe third challenge is clients questioning their own decision-making confidence. I discuss how to provide the tools and support they need to feel empowered and move forward.Your challenge: What magic pills do you have in your business that you could implement in your sales process? I know that you deeply care about your work. You've built expertise, you share your brilliance online, but something's not quite hitting the mark. Your content gets likes, but not leads. Your emails get opened (sometimes) but no responses. Sound familiar? Here's the truth: funnels, freebies, and lead magnets aren't working like they used to. People are burnt out on gated PDFs and vague promises of transformation. They're not looking for another download—they want YOU. This isn't a marketing problem anymore, it's a connection problem. Why Lead Magnets Are Falling ShortWe've all created them—those carefully crafted freebies designed to grow our lists and nurture leads. But our ideal clients are scrolling past our content, ignoring emails and ghosting our offers. The issue? Everyone's doing the same thing and while audiences are overwhelmed by content, we are missing meaningful connections.People don't want another checklist they don’t use. They want something real, immediate and genuinely helpful. They want to feel seen and understood, not just added to another email sequence.Key Takeaways:Connection Over Collection: The focus needs to shift from collecting email addresses to building genuine relationships. People are burnt out on automated funnels and want real human connection, not just another download.Micro Gifts Beat Lead Magnets: Replace traditional lead magnets with micro gifts—small, immediate acts of value that solve a specific problem within 24 hours. These create conversations rather than just growing lists.Solve Small, Act Fast: Focus on one specific problem your audience faces right now and create something that provides immediate, actionable value they can implement today—not another comprehensive guide they'll never use.So I have a challenge for you today. Pick one problem your ideal client faces right now. Create a micro gift that solves it. Send it to three people this week with a personal note and watch what unfolds.Connection is everything in business, and you're closer to breakthrough than you think. Stop hiding behind automation and start showing up as the trusted guide your clients need.LINKS:Elevate with JanineWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate MastermindElevate Mastermind
We've all been there—hesitating just seconds before hitting send on a quote, wondering if we're asking for too much. That pesky imposter syndrome loves to rear its head right when we need confidence most. In this episode, I sit down with the incredible Roxanne Calder, CEO, recruiter and author of the brand new book Earning Power: Breaking Barriers and Building Wealth for Women. Roxanne is a powerhouse in wealth management with a passion for personal empowerment, and her insights on recognising our true worth are both uplifting and incredibly practical. We talk about breaking the conventional rules that often undervalue skills and professions where women predominate. Roxanne shares her impressive journey in a male-dominated industry, revealing how she crafted her own set of rules that place a premium on her worth and abilities. We explore how questioning these norms isn't about going rogue for the sake of it, but about challenging systems that systematically minimise women's contributions. When it comes to building wealth, Roxanne masterfully reframes the conversation—it's not just about piling up resources, but creating a future that aligns with your dreams and aspirations through financial education and savvy choices. The biggest gem from our chat is Roxanne's approach to charging what you deserve. Her strategies are gold for anyone dealing with self-doubt hurdles that keep us from asking for our worth. Let's have a heart-to-heart. This one's for the doers, the dreamers, those incredible women juggling empire-building and everyday life—like figuring out what the hell to cook for dinner whilst building your business. We've all been there, questioning if we're the only ones struggling this hard. Well, you're definitely not alone, but you do need to hear this because real success is gritty, messy and far from the polished facade everyone's selling. In this episode, I'm sharing the unglamorous truth about what it really takes to build something meaningful. We'll explore:- Why the "overnight success" myth is dangerous- What real grit actually looks like- Why you need to do continue to do the reps- My formula for staying consistent when motivation runs dry. Here's my challenge to you this week: pick your rep and commit to it daily for the next 30 days. Track it, cherish it and fall in love with the process rather than the outcome. This is how empires are built—one unglamorous, tenacious step at a time. And, if this resonates with you, share it. Let’s lift each other up and remind ourselves and others why we started in the first place.LINKS:Elevate with JanineWebsite |  Instagram | LinkedIn | YouTubeMentioned in this episode:Apply to our Elevate MastermindElevate Mastermind
