Derek Starkey’s main goal in life is to connect with our community in as many ways as he can to be able to utilize his knack for collecting tools and supplies to help create opportunities. His workshops allow the public to build almost anything for free. They are also designed to help people solve problems in their life and help spark creativity. Because downtown Kennewick is focused on becoming a creative district he designed a collection of mobile art stops where people can use art supplies and even display their art. With a very difficult start in life, he was challenged and slowly lost hope for potential growth. Things quickly changed when learning to be grateful so he developed techniques for practicing gratitude and amplifying his life. In his book " I'm This Many" he shows the power of gratitude and perspective. After beginning his gratitude practice his life changed dramatically. Ann-Erica started Rascal Rodeo as a High School Senior Project in 2001 with 4 participants and 20 volunteers. In 2010 she finally stopped fighting the idea that burned in her heart and caved to the idea of starting a 501c3. Today Rascal Rodeo produces 16 rodeos a year throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho with events hosting over 100 participants and 200 volunteers. Each year it continues to grow as the special needs people of all ages discover unknown abilities while being loved, cared for and accepted.
Starting new projects is one of my FAVORITE things in the world! Here are my best tips to help you along your way during that magical time of bringing your ideas to life.

Today I'll be discussing the "Seasons of Life", Seeking to be in alignment with our purpose and new changes to come!
Through my life I have seen many seasons that have forced me to exercise personal strength. I’m more familiar with enduring long stretches of time that require resilience and strength than I’d like to count and I know life will bring me many more. Out of all those times in life, the ones that test me the most involve the protection and wellbeing of my children. Because I know how resilient I am, I know that I can withstand just about anything. But once you put my children in the mix it doesn’t matter how strong and steady I know I am, my heart can’t stand knowing that my child will have to hurt to gain that ability within themselves as well."
