The Burrowing Burglars

The Burrowing Burglars

2019-03-3100:21:553

On the morning of June 9th, 1986, employees at Hollywood's First Interstate Bank showed up for work, preparing for the long week ahead. However, they would discover that the bank's vault had been looted - not only of $172,000 cash, but dozens of security deposit boxes. Whoever the culprits had been, they had burrowed through 100 feet of soil from a nearby sewer drain, and had drilled their way into the bank vault. Miraculously, they had done this without attracting any attention. More than a year would pass with no activity from these bandits, until they struck again a little over a year later, in the same region. Then, they would come close to pulling off what investigator called the "crime of the century." However, to this day, they remain complete enigmas.Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanLearn more about this podcast at http://unresolved.me/ If you would like to support this podcast and others, consider heading to https://www.patreon.com/unresolvedpod to become a PatronMusic CreditsMystery Mammal - "Mo Mo Modem"ROZKOL - "No More Truth"ROZKOL - "Roquentin"Forlon - "Roembden Crater"Mystery Mammal - "Greenhorn"

Two minutes in, and I know this narrator is going to drive me nuts. He's a fast talker who's trying to slow down, but he doesn't actually slow down. Hespeaksquickly… withreallylongpauses… inbetween… individualphrases. It's like a bad William Shatner impression.

This was like listening to an essay where the writer adds filler words to meet a word count.

honey, Everett, WA is not now, nor was it ever, known as "a wealthy suburb", in fact it's more of a run down haven for junkies of all kinds. there are a couple nice areas, but a wealthy city, it is not. . . just an FYI. Great podcast, though..

Ohmygee. The dude interrogating Nick is, legit, aggravating and lousy at his job. Yuck. Totally harassing and haranguing this guy and trying to manipulate him into a false confession. No. I disagree with you in your opinion, his co workers and the polygraph Examiner. Nick had total right to not answer any of these questions and he was railroaded 100 percent by his own police department. The Owl did it.

California PC 187 don't be ridiculous. Nick knew how to play the game and was 5 steps ahead of the investigators, he knew his rights and was basically obstructing the investigation from jump. it's a good thing I'm not in law enforcement, because I have no patience for those that abuse their power (Nick) to potentially harm an innocent person or protect a guilty person from being fully investigated.
