In this freewheeling episode much ground is covered. Brad as an author and tour guide though the madness of the 60s and 70s had a chat with me about Charles Manson and crew in addition to Donald DeFreeze of the Symbionese Liberation Army - famous for kidnapping Patty Hearst and perishing in a giant shootout in Los Angeles.  We then talk about the revolutionaries covered in his latest book "Music is Power: Popular Songs, Social Justice, and the Will to Change." This interview is pop-culture catnip and I had a blast chatting. Brad Schreiber is a multi-faceted, award-winning talent who has written several books and developed projects for television, film, radio, and the stage. His works and accolades include the following: Books: "REVOLUTION'S END, secret history of the SLA," awards from Intl. Book Awards and Independent Publisher Book Awards and "BECOMING JIMI HENDRIX," selected for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library. TV: Creator, "NORTH MISSION ROAD," based on Brad's history of LA Coroner, DEATH IN PARADISE. Film: JUNGLE SHUFFLE, animated feature with voices of Rob Schneider and Alicia Silverstone. Radio: NPR adaptations of Ray Bradbury's THE ONE WHO WAITS, Philip K. Dick's SALES PITCH. Theatre: Productions in LA, NY, Dallas, SF. Edward Albee Foundation. Sam Shepard workshop at Bay Area Playwrights Festival. Doug Williams is on a crusade to dismantle the entire polygraph industry and the "charlatans" who run it. His battle has been raging for over 40 years and culminated into his serving time in prison on charges he deems to be false. He is now trying to get his story heard and to ultimately prevail of a machine that he despises. This interview was very intense and there is some course language. I have published it with no editing so Doug's message is not influenced in any way.  Doug's links Web: https://www.polygraph.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/dougwilliams_pg And don’t forget to support the podcast by subscribing for free, reviewing, and sharing. Jack Barsky, born in East Berlin 4 years after the end of World War II took an amazing life's journey from becoming a college professor to being recruited by the KGB. His assignment? Infiltrate and live in the United States as a spy under our noses. He was to build his identity, grow rich, and then do serious damage to the US. Fortunately, things took a very sharp turn and Jack is now very much a proud American citizen.  In this interview, we dig a little beyond just the mechanics of being a spy in our midst. We explore things like the mental strain and psychological damage of leading dual identities and much more.  Jack's links Web: https://jackbarsky.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jackbarsky/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/spybarsky/ And don’t forget to support the podcast by subscribing for free, reviewing, and sharing. In this special Christmas episode I am joined by my lovely wife, Leslie Smail, to interview the singer/songwriter Janine de Souza. Janine wrote and performed one of Leslie's all-time Christmas songs and it was a true pleasure to meet the artist herself. Janine de Souza is a singer/songwriter. She has written and produced a musical (“Brand New Day”), lead and founded a Jazz band for 8+ years while working as a Kindermusik and music teacher for at musical theater summer camp and for an elementary school.  She received her Associate’s Degree in Business from Broome Community College and her Bachelor’s in Professional Music from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.  Janine was awarded a Songwriting Scholarship while attending Berklee. She writes in several different genres: Country, Pop, Rock, and Children’s music. She is currently co-writing numerous Sync songs for ads, film, and TV.  Her goal is always the same though……to create music that will move people emotionally and authentically. Her original songs have been performed in and around the Boston area and according to Beverly Creasey, a prominent Boston theater critic for IRNE (Independent Reviewers of New England), “…de Souza’s songs are infectious, smart, and versatile….” Janine's links Web: https://janinedesouza.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Performing-Arts/Janine-de-Souza-Music-2154245364837744/ And don’t forget to support the podcast by subscribing for free, reviewing, and sharing. In this special episode of Unstructured in time for the holidays, Randall Kenneth Jones interviews me (or toys with me). We talk about what is my history and I learned a lot about myself that I never knew.  This fun episode is in the spirit of Norm MacDonald and "Based on a True Story" as in that it is based on me, I exist, and the much of the rest is an inspired fabrication from Randy. I had a lot of fun with this one and hope that you do too! Brian Schulmeister is the co-host of Grumpy Old Geeks where they ponder "what went wrong on the Internet and who’s to blame" with previous guest Jason DeFillippo.  Brian lives in Venice, frequents Toronto and London and has spent a lot of the last 10 years happily living out of a suitcase – and a large backpack filled with laptops, cords, wires and various bits and bobs that bloop and bleep.  He’s the co-founder of Slender Fungus, a design company working primarily within the music industry.  He is also the co-writer with Rob Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls in Amungus, an electronica based music project that’s released an EP and played a few festivals.  Brian started with technology at the dawn of time, even running his own BBS at the age of 13, and has stuck with it since then.  Needless to say, he’s quite grumpy. This episode is a Halloween special. The interview has two parts. First we discuss the book and then we discuss what Jeff Abraham looks for as a publicist. "The Show Won't Go On: The Most Shocking, Bizarre, and Historic Deaths of Performers Onstage" is the first comprehensive study of a bizarre phenomenon: performers who died while performing before an audience. From the comedy magician who dropped dead on live television to the amateur thespian who expired during a play called The Art of Murder, the book is a celebration of lives both famous and obscure, as well as a dramatic and accurate recounting of events leading to the moments they died "doing what they loved." The Show Won't Go On covers almost every genre of entertainment, and is full of unearthed anecdotes, exclusive interviews, colorful characters and ironic twists. With dozens of heart-stopping stories, it's the perfect book to dip into on any page. Jeff Abraham is one of Hollywood's foremost comedy historians and the go-to pop culture expert for television producers, documentary directors and authors.  As senior account executive at Jonas Public Relations, he's gained a reputation for representing some of the top names in comedy, including Andrew Dice Clay, Steve Harvey, George Lopez, Bill Maher and, for the last eleven years of his life, George Carlin.  Not limiting his work to comedians, Jeff has a varied clientele that includes many actors, actresses and authors, for whom he's created countless successful book launch and promotion campaigns. The owner and curator of the largest comedy album archives in Hollywood, he's been called upon as research consultant to countless authors and numerous film documentaries and television specials including Make ‘Em Laugh for PBS; Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time; Let Me In, I Hear Laughter: A Salute To Friar’s Club on Cinemax; and the acclaimed Encore film, Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis.  Jeff has conducted interviews for The Archive of American Television, worked closely with The Paley Center for Media, and is on the board of The National Comedy Center.  He's also author of the upcoming authorized biography of The Ritz Brothers.  Jeff's Links Web: https://theshowwontgoon.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/MrComedyPR And don’t forget to support the podcast by subscribing for free, reviewing, and sharing. Tommy Griffith has been doing search engine optimization for more than 10 years. He previously managed SEO at PayPal and Airbnb, and now runs ClickMinded, a digital marketing training platform for marketers and entrepreneurs. Tommy started ClickMinded as a side project while working full-time at Airbnb. He grew it until it started generating more revenue than his annual salary.
