Today’s episode is a celebration of Team Fortress 2, released on October 10, 2007. It was a part of The Orange Box, which included Half-Life 2, Episodes 1 and 2 of HL2, and Portal. It was later ported to the Sony PlayStation 3 and later made as a standalone the following year for Microsoft Windows. Three years later, Team Fortress 2 became free-to-play.You’ll play as one of nine classes for either team RED or BLU, competing against the other team to bring the intelligence briefcase, capture the control point, or move or prevent the payload from reaching point B. Some classes, such as the Soldier, Heavy, and Pyro, dealt damage, while other classes provided support, such as the Engineer and the Medic. Some classes were specialized, like the Scout, the Sniper, and Spy.We’ll be playing several tracks from the game and their matching remixes. There’s also a small tribute to the Soldier’s VA, Rick May.“Mission begins in sixty seconds…” Team Fortress 2 (Wikipedia)Team Fortress 2 Official Soundtrack (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Bandcamp, Deezer) Track ListingAll original tracks were composed by Mike Morasky and performed by the Valve Studio OrchestraIntro: “Main Theme” / “Team Fortress 2”BGM: “Playing With Danger”“Rocket Jump Waltz”“[TF2 Remix] SharaX – Rocket Jump Waltz” – remixed by SharaX“Faster Than a Speeding Bullet”“Team Fortress 2 – Faster Than A Speeding Bullet [Eurobeat Remix]” – remixed by Vandoorea“MEDIC!”“Medic! – team Fortress 2 | Super Smash Bros. Today on XVGM Radio, we’re taking a look (and listen) to the audio history of Human Entertainment. Formed via a merger between Try Co. Ltd. and Communicate Inc in 1987, Human Entertainment was initially called Sonata, mostly handling ports from larger developers such as Konami and Bandai. After two years of this, 1989 saw the name change to Human Entertainment, where the company began creating their own IPs. Learn about how they created a development school which is where many of their development staff came from, their bankruptcy in 1999, and where many of their more notable staff members ended up continuing on the tradition of making weird, wacky games. Justin and Mike as the question: is a Human Sports Festival played with Humans as the balls? With a surprising mix of both wavetable tunes and redbook audio, there’s a bunch of variety in musical genres to choose from with Human Entertainment and it’s ONLY on XVGM Radio! Last week, I went to a meet-up being organized by one of my high school classmates, Eduardo. He wanted to have a gathering with family and friends before he started treatment for his cancer. It was a lively time at the pizza place, as people talked to each other and took selfies with their mobile devices. Overall, he was happy to see everyone who could attend, taking control of his life and dealing with cancer on his terms. For this week’s episode, I’ve decided to do a sort of dedication to him by playing tracks from his favorite video games: an uneasy peace between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the aftermath of the Death Star’s second destruction, and a Dark Knight seeking to save Gotham from Scarecrow. We’ve also got covers, remixes, and mashups to follow each track.Enjoy these tracks as I explain their significance to Eddie. Oh, and Eddie, I’ll see you next time… Track Listing“Main Theme” / “Clash of Destiny” – [Star Wars: The Old Republic] – composed by Mark Griskey, Gordy Haab“Star Wars: The Old Republic Theme | Metal Cover” – covered by Anderson“Gameplay Trailer Music” – [Star Wars: Battlefront 2] – composed by John Williams“Star Wars: Battlefront II (OST) | METAL MASHUP” – remixed by Vincent Moretto“Fear Within” – [Batman: Arkham Knight] – composed by Nick Arundel“Batman: Arkham Knight – Fear Within [MUSIC REMIX]” – remixed by DoomnightK YouTube playlistDiscord channel Source
Today’s broadcast is C1E98 for Mishmash Monday, Sept 29th, 2025. Today’s broadcast will be Mishmash Monday – vol. 17 – our final installment in the Mishmash Monday series on Ch 1. In this very special edition of Nerd Noise Radio Channel F, St. John's 7yr old son, St. Wyatt makes his Nerd Noise Radio debut (at least, in all the ways that matter). This episode will be a miniature of the Channel 2 format - with only one track! Circumstances: St. John *MEANT* to include a track from one of Wyatt's iPad games into the mixtape of C1E98: "Mishmash Monday - vol. 17", but realized way too late into that episode's production that he had completely spaced it off. He briefly considered going back into the mixtape and the voice track and retroactively adding the track. But then decided to instead use the occasion of his complete air-headedness to "turn lemons into lemonade" and and introduce Wyatt into the show - something that had been in the back of St. John's mind since the day Wyatt was born. While Wyatt has yet to master the art of radio communication (I hope everyone likes "salad"), this F-isode absolutely melts my heart!....I hope it will you too! Lastly, I actually really like this track....and once again, I hope you will too! Given St. John's penchant for "ironically, humorously literal titles", this one is aptly named: "One for Wyatt!" The air is getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and that means September is almost over. That also means it’s time for our special episode of “On Stage Now”, where we feature a VGM cover or remix musician or group with some info and then play their repertoire of works. This month’s musician is Vincent Moretto, a guitarist and producer from France. He blends metal, cyberpunk, and video games in a way that pushes the volume to 11 and over. His videos of covers and remixes span over 10 years. Ahoy mates! It’s time to weigh anchor and set sail as we celebrate “International Talk Like a Pirate Day”, on September 19th.Nothing too complicated, other than tiring your wind pipes. This day was created by two friends who, in the midst of shouting words of encouragement while playing racquetball, starting talking to each other as pirates. They decided to create a special day (on one of their ex-wife’s birthday) to speak with a Western Country accent, with a few “Arr”s and “Aye”s thrown in for measure. When they mentioned this special day to a popular humor columnist, who then published it in a newspaper, suddenly people started to talk like pirates on that day. It’s now a popular day for all to celebrate. For this week’s episode, we’ll be playing tracks from video games that have pirates: a promising lad who wishes to be a pirate, a privateer-turned-pirate who then becomes an assassin, and a former Yakuza member who decides to crew a bunch of pirates. Of course, we got covers and remixes to go along with these original tracks.Prepare yourself and your sea legs for a journey across the seas of melody… International Talk Like a Pirate DayPirate Glossary Track ListingIntro and BGM: “Pirate’s Shanty” – by Worldwide Adventurers, from their album “Adventure Stories Volume II – Pirates” (Spotify, Amazon Music, Bandcamp, Soundcloud)“The Scumm Bar” – [The Secret of Monkey Island] – composed by Michael Z. 2025 Rerun Notes: In commemoration of this month release of the last-ever Mishmash Monday on Channel 1, I thought I'd rerun the first two installments of the series - both from all the way back in 2017 (Season 1 of the show). Therefore, all the obvious caveats on "absolutely atrocious production quality" and blah blah blah (especially on C1E10, the earlier of the two releases). Though this rerun is "officially" and "canonically" the first "Mishmash Monday" (free play) episode in Nerd Noise Radio history, it is really "Mishmash Monday in name only" as it wasn't truly a free play. Instead, it was designed with a very specific purpose and with each track housing a very specific meaning. Though I explain and elaborate fully in a 2019 special expanded rebroadcast of this episode we called "Chandlerfest", which I'll link to below, for now, the tl;dr is that this mixtape was actually made in commemoration for a friend who died entirely too young in Dec 2016, and whose absence we still feel regularly from here in 2025. When I got the news, I left work, went home, and turned my grief into tortured energy, and made this mixtape, with the design philosophy being to use the tracks and the particular arch of the track order to tell the story of the emotions of those of us left behind in his wake as we processed the news of his departure. With this being a 2017 episode, all the obvious caveats on "absolutely atrocious production quality" (especially episodes from the first half of 2017, which were even worse than those from the second half.) But content-wise, this early outing remains one of the most important episodes of Nerd Noise Radio....ever. Here's a link to Chandlerfest for anyone who wants to know more: https://terraplayer.com/shows/nerd-noise-radio/nerd-noise-radio-reruns-presents-chandlerfest Otherwise, enjoy! Original 2017 show notes below! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Today’s broadcast is Episode 10 for Mishmash Monday, May 22nd, 2017 on a program we're calling "Mishmash Monday vol. 1" This episode is dedicated to the memory of Chris Chandler. Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed. Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 episodes, and not in any of the other channels, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days.
