On the sixth episode of "Value Matters," Johann welcomes Nikos Kourentzes, a professor of predictive analytics at the University of Skovde in Sweden.
Nikos conducts research on predictive analytics, mostly in the realm of supply chain management. In a recent article titled "Forecasting in Practice: Is Forecast Accuracy Really the Issue?" Nikos shares his latest research on what he refers to as forecast congruency. This research will soon be published in a working paper with Kandrika Pritularga.
In this research, he focuses on a specific characteristic of a forecast: its stability over time, a characteristic he calls congruency. As he explains, "firms have often preferred forecasts that are more similar over time, as these may lead to easier decisions afterwards, such as orders to replenish inventory." In this episode, Nikos and Johann discuss this concept of stability/congruency, its implementation, and its potential impact on supply chains.

On this third episode of "Value Matters", Johann welcomes Pr. Bram Desmet, author of the books "Supply Chain Strategy and Financial Metrics" & "The Strategy-Driven Supply Chain", and CEO of Solventure.
Bram is a recognized thought leader whose unique expertise is in linking advanced analytics, supply chain models, and strategy. So inviting him as a guest on "Value Matters" was an obvious choice.
Together, Bram and Johann discuss the concept of the supply chain triangle. The first part of this podcast introduces the concept so that those who are not yet familiar with it can easily find their way around and understand it fairly well. In the second part, Bram and Johann develop the supply chain triangle framework a little bit further, discussing potential limitations and extending the conversation to key topics such as corporate strategy, sustainability, probabilistic thinking, and so on.
