The 44th episode of Verbally Committed. The Double quarto episode (thought of that all on our own).
- Our go to coffee orders
- Gilli is a coffee nut, Connor's order is that of an extremely basic white girl.
- Would you rather be a somewhat high end college basketball coach, or a coach for a mediocre, average NBA team?

- Tim Tebow was not as bad of a pro baseball player as one would think.
- The NFL might change the numbers rule, who would we like to see go back to their original college number?
- Which NFL stars would we most want to see go back to playing baseball?
That UCLA/Gonzaga Final Four game was an unbelievable game. And one of the best games in March Madness history. Not only that but the celebration by Suggs sparked a debate about the best celebrations of all time.
- Where does UCLA/Gonzaga rank among the great March Madness games of all time?
- Is it better than the Laettner shot? Or Kris Jenkins?
- Does a good NBA career make Suggs' shot even better?
- A breakdown of the top game winning shot celebrations
- Our personal celebrations from our playing days, although admittedly it's hard to have a planned celebration in the moment.
- Breaking down celebrations for different sports.
- Roy Williams retired on April fools day, and Bill Self got a life time deal. No jokes.
On this Easter and Final Four weekend, it's important to reflect on the things that really matter, like is Easter a better holiday than Labor or Memorial Day?
- We discuss where Easter falls into the holiday hierarchy, and you might be surprised how far down it falls.
- Breaking down the NCAA Hockey tournament which has made it to the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh
- Why do we praise and celebrate UCLA's Cinderella run to the Final Four, yet refuse to expand the CFP or allow non-power five teams in?
- Final Four predictions, is it still as we said all along Gonzaga vs. Baylor or can Houston make a mess or UCLA keep their cinderella story going.
With March Madness is full swing you'd expect us to focus on that right? Well that's why you tune into Verbally Committed, we zig where other podcasts zag. We break down the NCAA Mens Hockey Tournament with Chris Peters. There's literally nobody else on planet earth who knows more about collegiate hockey than Chris. So you are in really good hands this week.
- We still gotta talk about March Madness and it's time to pat ourselves on the back about where we were right about the first two rounds.
- It's also time to man up and admit where we were wrong. And honestly we were wrong about A LOT.
- We pick our new final four from the remaining 16 teams
- Chris joins the pod and helps answer some burning questions, like how did he get into hockey, what's his go to team in chel, is he a Meth Bear or Pooh Bear guy?
- Chris is an expert and gambles on the NHL as part of his job, which is difficult to do, what are his tricks to the trade?
- Who his surprises were on who got in and who missed the bracket.
- We are big Michigan hockey fans, so what are Michigans chances in the tourney?
- Time to fill out a bracket, the three of us go game by game and fill out a full tournament bracket. Listen to find out who ends out on top!
Thanks for tuning in, crush that subscribe button!
It's the best weekend of the freaking year people. Despite March Madness starting on a Friday, not a Thursday for some reason... It's still going to be a ton of fun. And while we are not breaking down the entire bracket, we have your first round covered for you!
- Pour one out for Connor's schedule and Michigan Hockey.
- Why is March Madness starting on Friday and not Thursday?
- A break down of the first round, as Connor fills out his first bracket. Seriously.
- Our favorite upset picks, who we believe in and who we don't trust.
- Final Four picks and our champs
- Locks, a lock from each region of the bracket for the first round of the tournament
Sit back and enjoy some college basketball! It promises to be an absolutely wild tournament
Getting you all prepped for Conference Tournament week, one of the best weeks of the sports year. Plus a little preview of what Selection Sunday could look like.
- Which is better: Conference Tournament week? Or the first weekend of March Madness?
- The answer is easy, first weekend of March Madness but Conference Tourney week has it's benefits
- Gonzaga finishes the regular season undefeated, first team since 2015 Kentucky to do so. So who would win head to head? 2020 Gonzaga vs 2015 Kentucky.
- How college basketball is correcting itself from the one and done era
- Most intriguing conference tournaments? Which conferences pose the most interest?
- Breaking down the tournaments including best betting plays. Should you ride with the favorites or are there some plucky underdogs worth putting money on?
- Gilli's bubble breakdown. Some current bubble teams and Gilli's take on whether we hear their name called on Sunday or not.

We take a small reprieve from college basketball to talk about some recent college football history with one of our good friends and longtime listeners, but first time caller, Sam Hardiman. A proud Memphian? Memphonite? Memphisian? He lives in Memphis okay? Joins us to discuss some important topics
- Why does he love sports, but doesn't cover them for a living?
- A proud Mizzou Alum, what was his favorite Missouri football memories?
- His favorite go to beers in Memphis, Tennessee

- A list of ten Heisman Trophy winners, where do they stack up against each other?
- Someone has Baker Mayfield too low, someone has him too high.
- Where does Derrick Henry truly belong? Is he an elite Heisman? Or another Bama running back product?
- Was Joe Burrow's 2019 season really that special or was it the talent around him?
- Where does Memphis BBQ rank among the BBQ world?
Thanks to our friend Sam for joining, and thanks for listening!
We missed last week we know. But it was merely a brief hiatus, totally Connor's fault even though he moved only 4 miles and Gilli moved through like four different states. Not trying to pat anyone on the back here but whatever. It's not like we really missed all that much anyways. But we knew we had to be back this week, March Madness is sneaking up on us and we all need to get prepared.
- Moving stories, Gilli in Philly, Connor down the street in the Mount Rushmore state.
- Did we really miss anything though? Seriously did much happen in college sports?
- Who wore it better? "Mustache edition" Gilli sported a 'stache in like episode five, Connor does it today. Whose is better?
- Trials and tribulations of living in Philly. Gilli gives us a run down on how to get alcohol in the City of Brotherly Love
- Gus Malzahn at UCF? Weird right? We thought so.
- What is wrong with URI basketball, Gilli breaks down his hometown team.
- Michigan is legit, is Ohio State over ranked? The Big Ten is a DAWG
- Is the Big 12 the second best conference in college basketball?
- Will Duke make the tournament? Is Virginia not to be feared anymore?
- Teams outside of the top 25 who can make a run in March.
- Is St. Bonaventure for real out of the A10?
- Our slightly later than before but still early final four predictions.
Thanks for tuning in this week! As always enjoy!
We hold our very first draft on Verbally Committed as we draft our top five schools to be a fan of for any and all athletics. From football to basketball, to baseball, hockey, tennis and even Quidditch?
- Top beers for drinking at a tailgate. Good tasting, sipping, enjoyment beers vs. top beers for getting drunk
- Our top schools for crossover sports draft, taking into account historical relevance, relevance in multiple sports but only as fans. Not as a player, facilities not included.
- Connor picks a squad of criminals
- Gilli goes for powerhouses in one sport, but maybe not across the board
- Honorable mentions that didn't get drafted
- Check out our twitter page to vote on whose top five list is better
EA Sports dropped the bomb on Tuesday that their popular NCAA Football video game is making its long awaited return. We haven't seen a college football video game in 7 years since Denard Robinson was still relevant. So one could say that we're pretty excited.
- NCAA Football is back, initial thoughts
- Quick downer... It's going to take 2-3 years for it to come back
- Will NIL issues be figured out by then?
- Players/Teams we missed out on during the games absence.
- What needs to be included in the upcoming game? The playoff, transfer portal, dirty recruiting?
- What players should have been on the covers the were skipped?
This an episode where we are constantly either reminiscing or circling back to a point we made earlier. And we realize that we are only three degrees of separation from Lebron James. Pretty, pretty cool.
- Episode 34, The Big Papi episode, our favorite Big Papi moments.
- A quick recap of The Bachelor, because of course
- Josh Heupel to Tennessee, will it work? Is there a disconnect between successful AAC coaches and power five success?
- Scott Frost might not be on a hot seat, but certainly has questions that need answering after a bad week.
- Pat Fitzgerald stays at Northwestern forever
- Gary Andersen turns down HOW MUCH MONEY?
- Is Drake basketball for real?
- How good is Ohio State basketball? How good is the Big Ten?
Honestly we are all over the place this week. College Basketball takes center stage, court? Now that football is over although there is plenty of football still to discuss.
- Gilli wears an insulting hat
- Connor learns what a Duvet is, because what he originally thought is DEFINITELY not that.
- Is Phillip Rivers a Hall of Famer? How exclusive of a club is it really?
- Tennessee is handing out "Happy Meals"
- Who should be the next Tennessee head coach? Sort of serious but also definitely not serious answers inside.
- Are Gonzaga and Baylor on a collision course for the NCAA Championship this March?
- Who deserves a ring more? Gonzaga who has been knocking on the door for years? Or Chip and Joanna Gaines and the Baylor Bears?
- Way too early Final Four picks
- Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina are all down this year. Which legendary coach of those three could we see saying screw it I'm done, first?
Thanks for listening, keep tuned in for more!
Before you start thinking it's the actual transfer portal where college kids go in one side with a screenshot of a note on their twitter page and then come out the other end with a fancy new photoshop from their new school. That's not the case here. Gilli is in real life making a big time move so tune in this week to see where he is moving to!
Other than that, here is what we discussed
- Our thoughts from the National Championship game. Devonta Smith is pretty good, someone should give that guy an award of some kind.
- Is Alabama the best college football team ever like Mac Jones says they are?
- How do we feel about Mac Jones at the next level?
- Lowest TV ratings for a national championship since 2004. Has the Playoff actually sort of been a failure? How do we fix it?
- Urban Meyer has recovered from his "illness" how will he do as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars?
- Nebraska loses a big time player to the transfer portal and why other schools might be feeling the effects of the portal more than usual after 2020.
Thanks for tuning in, give us a rating and subscribe and as always just sit back and enjoy!
Welcome to the 11th ranked podcast in the nation. What a wild week of college football we just had with the National Championship now set and the Heisman being awarded to the first non RB/QB since the 90's.
- Dabo Swinney gets served an entire humble pie.
- Ohio State and Justin Fields were incredible
- What is targeting anymore? We may never know.
- Alabama handles Notre Dame with ease, did we learn anything?

- Is Bama too good? Too electric? Too many points?
- Is Ohio State being undervalued and counted out again?
- Bowl szn has wrapped up, which conferences impressed, and which didn't
- Devonta Smith wins the Heisman, was he the right choice?
- Is Trevor Lawrence's Clemson career a failure since he never won the Heisman?
Thanks for tuning in every week, we love you and you are all special.

Thanks for listening, and Happy New Year!
We, or more so Gilli is feeling very privileged this Christmas season. Seeing as he is someone who has never had to ride the bus in his life and gets to cut in line at gourmet coffee shops. As for the rest of us? We are focused on what the college football playoff looks like, so let's go!
- Gilli never had to ride the bus? Gets to cut in line at coffee shops?
- Luka Garza a run away for NPOY?
- Did the Committee get the CFP right? Are these the four teams that should be playing for a national title?
- Does the Playoff need to expand? And if the answer is yes, then why and what do you do with bowl games/the schedule?
- Nebraska and others opt out of bowl games, why that is okay.
- What bowl games that are not the playoff, are we excited for?
Merry, Happy Everything (Christma-kwanza-kah) and thanks for listening!
It's our first football conference championship week on Verbally Committed. A couple of weeks later than usual but hey at least there is one right? We put on a pot of coffee and dive right into the important questions this week.
- Where would humanity be without coffee? Not sure, and we are not ready to get that deep today into that. More just how we like our coffee and our favorite coffee places. Is ordering just straight black coffee efficient, consistent or lazy?
- Florida lost to LSU. A bad, bad, bad, terrible loss for the Gators. AWFUL some would say. And yet we are devising ways for Florida to still somehow get into the CFP. We think it's possible.
- Early Signing day, who won, who lost and Georgia lost a top recruit to who?
- Does the ACC championship game really matter? What does an Ohio State team who has only played in six games need to do to assure a seat at the table
- Gilli gives us a quick run down of college basketball including how impressive Iowa and Luke Garza have been. And their upcoming matchup against Gonzaga.
- Also are college coaches done with wearing suits? COVID has taken a lot from us, and now it's taking away men's tailors livings.
- Previewing all the major conference championship games, what we expect to happen. And as always our locks just like every week.
- Florida State gets a nice shout out from Connor for once for recruiting UCF transfer QB, McKenzie Milton.
As always, listen, rate and enjoy the show!
What a week in the college sports landscape. Football is starting to wind down as we near conference championship week and we are starting to get a feel for certain teams on the hardwood and whether or not it could be a disappointing season for some bigger names in the sport. Lots to talk about and as always we got it covered for you.
- Ohio State gets to play in the B1gG Championship game against Northwestern. The Big Ten finally made a right decision which is very 2020-ish.
- Nebraska was right all along, but if no apologies will be accepted if you weren't on that train from the beginning
- LSU gives itself a 2021 post-season bowl ban. At the end of a terrible year for them. Don't pat yourself on the back too hard there...
- Texas A&M being ranked #5 is cruel by the CFP Committee. The Aggies have a very improbable path to the playoff but yet are somehow also right on the cusp
- Kentucky sucks, Duke is struggling, is UNC even good anymore? Are once dominant college coaches like Calipari, Coach K and Roy Williams actually washed up or is it just a weird year?
- The Big Ten is really, really, really good
- Previewing this week with our locks, the Army/Navy game, Virginia/VT, UCLA/USC and more!
- And looking ahead to the early betting lines for Conference Championship week, getting a head start on some big locks.
Listen, rate, subscribe but most of all just sit back and enjoy.
Things are in full swing, basketball is a week old, football is getting down to the wire. And as always we are here to break it all down!
- Foreign language lessons, how to say 26 in French because why not?
- First impressions from the opening week of college basketball
- Bill Walton is hilarious, best comments he's made during opening week.
- Ohio State drama: Michigan can't or won't play Ohio State? Kirk Herbstreit said what now? Should the Buckeyes be in the CFP if they're not B1G champs?
- It's the most wonderful time of the year and no we aren't talking about Christmas. We are talking about Playoff hypotheticals. When you scout teams future games, opponents and play the game "Should a one loss SEC team be considered better than an undefeated Cincinnati?"
- Who would win: 2020 Cincinnati vs 2017 UCF
- Locks, we are on fire as the season draws to a close
Listen, follow, subscribe, rate and as always enjoy!
One of our longest episodes to date, but we had an incredible amount of topics to cover. It's Thanksgiving, it's rivalry week, the first CFP poll dropped and college basketball is officially back! Let's break it all down.
- What makes a perfect Thanksgiving meal dish? Are you team stuffing or team Mac and cheese? There are no wrong answers here but there is certainly a right one.
- First CFP poll dropped this week. Right now the top four are Bama, Notre Dame, Clemson and Ohio State. In a weird year like 2020 has been who could have imagined we would see these four teams at the top... Cincy gets ranked 7th which is a sign of respect where as BYU a top ten team in every other poll is ranked (checks notes) 14th!
- Breaking down last weeks big games, Ohio State and Oregon survive scares. Northwestern basically wins the B1G West division, Bedlam goes poorly for Gilli and Cincy and UCF goes down to the wire.
- Previewing the 2020 College Basketball season. Gilli breaks down every one you need to keep an eye on for POTY
- We also break down many conferences, teams to watch, sneaky picks, and players to keep an eye on. We talk about the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, Big East, SEC and A-10.
- Locks and previews for rivalry week. Usually Thanksgiving weekend consists every everyone playing their rival but not so much the case this year. We get some big rivalry games like Oregon/Oregon State and both the Iron Bowl and Egg Bowl but still missing a few good ones. Never the less we are here with some picks for you.
Again a long episode but just so much to talk about this week! We hope you enjoy and of course Happy Thanksgiving!
