The 2018 budget is unveiled tonight and looks like there will be a focus on tax breaks and looking after our elderly with aged care. Speaking of budgets... Senior Sergeant from the Merredin Police filled us in on the cases of vandals causing damage in town, both at the Pioneer Cemetery and at the Vietnam War Memorial in Roy Little Park, there is good news in that the culprits have been found. *This week National Road Safety Week and this morning it’s unfortunate to report that we’ve had yet another fatal crash on our country roads. In Wongan Hills on Friday night the life was lost of a young man in his 20s. Macca fills us in with a big review of the football and netball in the Avon over the weekend, big blow outs on the scoreboard this week with a lot of the matches. John thinks a lot of people missed out on her which is a shame as she was truly gifted at her craft.  There's been a decision made not to award the Ross Glendinning Medal in this Sunday’s western derby at Optus Stadium — a call that had West Coast and the Dockers at odds last night, apparently it's because of a change in the sponsorship agreement with Carlton & United Breweries. There is a family in Mundijong with three young children, and two of their children have been diagnosed with MLD “Meta-chromatic Leuko-dystrophy”, an inherited genetic disease with no cure, only treatment to extend life and slow down the disease.  There’s a 1 in 40,000 chance of having the gene, with 1 in 4 chance of passing it to your children. Skwid had a chat with me this morning from Guardians of Innocence Perth and they are hosting a ride this weekend that is going through our Avon region to raise funds for this family in need. Major Crime Squad detectives have located the body of a man, believed to be Dean Patrick White, in a camp area north of my home town Quairading. A report has found instability at our only WA juvenile detention centre with affected proper delivery of education services. The Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services report, released yesterday, found education was "one of the biggest casualties" of a lack of strategic direction at the Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre.
