Then this show is what you've been waiting for. We have music and pop culture discussion as well as important issues that people deal with in their day to day lives. That's right! It's that time again! It's been a crazy past few weeks and we need to cover all of the insanity! From Occupy Wall Street and the Republican Nomination to The latest in entertainment News! JOin us as we put it all ON BLAST!!
Is there a point when you should just let go of your dream and focus on the reality of your situation? Should you never ever give up and always stay true to yourself and your passion? Have you ever tried to help someone accomplish their dreams? Have you ever tried to convince someone to stay "realistic" regarding their circumstances? Have you ever tried to please friends, parents, teachers etc... only to realize later in life that you didn't love what you were doing?

Last week we had an all hot topics show and one of the last hot topics turned into an all out debate on gender roles in today's society and in the family... primarily the black family. We want to know what you think! Are gender roles biological and Natural? Are they needed to maintain a structured family and/or society? Are these traditions out dated and unnecessary? OR should everyone do what is necessary for their own lives?
Also we will be inteviewing Shining Sons and talking about their upcoming show at the The Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture!

Maya Angelou said what about the MLK Memorial? Jay Z did what at VMA's? JC Penny's is sexist? Michelle Bachmann said THAT about the Hurricane and Earthquake? Whose responsibility is it to make sure that there are healthy foods in our families, homes, and communities? Is it up to us as individuals, community members, or the policy makers? Some community groups are stepping up to have more fruits and vegetables easily accessible to their low income residents and some government officials are creating policies and making strong efforts to lower the rates of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity in their cities. What can we do as individuals to support these efforts or to create more options for themselves and their communities if there aren't very many?

So last week we were having a discussion about whether or not the death penalty should be abolished. The discussion got heated but the time was too short to really hash things out. Many points were brought forth and many suggestions for future capital punishment laws were presented. So many people stated that they did not get the chance to chime in last week and many others felt that they needed more time to present their arguments... So of course we here at On Blast Radio heard what you had to say and decided to bring the discussion back!!

With the outcome of the Casey Antony trial many debates have spurred regarding our judicial system. Out of the many discussions, the death penalty in particular was called into question yet again. Even though Casey Anthony was found not guilty if murder, there are many others who were not as fortunate. We want to know how you feel about our legal system and capital punishment. With Ron Paul and Barney Frank teaming up to introduce bill to legalize marijuana, it begs the question... SHOULD it be legalized? What about other illicit drugs? Should they become legalized too? We all know there is a lot of myth, fact, and perception that take place in the discussion of illegal drugs and their impact on society and even in particular communities... And hopefully we can work to sort it all out nad have a great discussion!

With the state of Arizona using the law to shut down ethnic studies courses in their public schools, it brings up some very important questions. Are ethnic studies programs fair to all students? Should students learn about the history and cultures of other people in the U.S? Do courses such as African American studies, Native American Studies, Mexican American studies etc... teaching hate for white people or is it just merely creating more informed and empowered students of color? Recently, celebrity Tamera Mowry was on twitter posting racist comments about her and her relationship to her now fiance who happens to be white. The comments called Tamera a coon and a sell out and for many other African Americans that date (or marry) outside of their race these comments are said about them as well. Is it just a small group of individuals who are making these kind of statements or is this something that is rooted deep into Black American culture? We have heard the comments made by Jaylen Rose stating that as a teen he felt that Duke University only recruited "Uncle Toms" but we are going to delve a little deeper into the topic and see if we can uncover the deeper issues regarding success and the black community. In light of the statements made by Anthony Mackie and Idris Elba, On Blast with Vida Starr will be discussing Blacks in Hollywood. Are there enough black films? Why are Blacks snubbed at many award shows for film and television? Idris Elba stated that "The Oscars aren't for us." Do you agree or disagree.
