It’s finally here: the 100th episode of Viewing Party!! In this special Party edition of the show, some former guests join us to discuss our next Tatumverse movie, This Is the End! We discuss what we thought this movie should be, our favorite parts of this movie, and get paid the highest compliment about our show artwork.
Pop in a mix CD and don’t miss 60B — we’re taking a road trip to Elizabethtown! In this episode, we outline all the movies this could have been instead of the one that it is, Wesleigh does some math that blows Katie’s mind, we make a lot of food analogies, and get a long-awaited Jude Law Hair Update!
Skimming through Netflix’s Award Winners category led us to this week’s movie, 2013’s Her. In this episode, we recap delirious fever texts, Katie learns what airports look like from the air, we learn what movie Wesleigh’s mom refuses to watch with her, and decide that Theodore Twombly is the most Enneagram 4 of all time.
We’re back after a brief hiatus to chat about the delightful new Rebel Wilson anti-romcom, Isn’t It Romantic! In this episode we discuss rising ice cream prices, plot romantic comedies for our Enneagram types, Katie pitches a new reality dating show and we’re really excited for the special features when this movie comes out on DVD.
Wesleigh, Hannah and Kate give us an update from the Groundhog Day Marathon! We recorded this at 2am, at the halfway point. In this episode, hear us play Phase 10 (and a group of girls next to us play Settlers of Catan), gush over a real live groundhog in a bowtie, we give props to some of our fellow marathoners, and promise to check in at the end of the marathon … but don’t (sorry not sorry).
We hit a lull in the Tatumverse as we return to the G.I. Joe franchise, a thing we still don’t understand the existence of (Bruce Willis shows up? There is a gun montage? Half of it takes place in Tokyo?). In this episode, Wesleigh shares a cat-related life hack, we reveal what the first movie we each watched in 2019 was, and Katie becomes a socialist.
Trainwreck is the romcom full of all the things you didn’t know you wanted: Bill Hader as a love interest, Lebron as his BFF, and so much John Cena. In this week’s episode, your hosts discuss winter brunch date outfits, educational toys from our childhood, dating advice, and websites that no longer exist. Plus, Katie eats too much Valentine’s candy!
This minisode comes to you from our recording with Luke on The Grinch. In this episode, hear us chat about weird playlists and the phenomenon of musicians covering their own songs in a fake language for a video game. Sul sul!
We traveled back to our childhoods for this episode on The Land Before Time. In this episode, we share our favorite Christmas gifts, there is a lot of yawning (sorry), we call in an expert to talk about dinosaurs, and discover that there are FOURTEEN of these movies (how!?!).
Grab some Roast Beast and Who Hash, we’re jumping into the newest iteration of Dr. Seuss’s famous Christmas story, The Grinch! This episode we’re joined by Katie’s brother Luke and discuss Christmas songs about racism, whether or not Santa exists this world, Who Jesus and which character in the franchise young Katie identified with most.
What you’ve been waiting for is finally here: it’s Magic Mike time! In this episode, hear Katie’s McConaughey voice, Magic Mike fun facts, the story of how the Tatumverse began, a lot of digs on Tampa (sorry, Tampa), and more laughing than any other episode. BONUS: Listen to our first proto-podcast episode from 2015, Magic Abs!
Are you a brain, a basket case, a sport, a criminal, or a princess? Join us for detention as we discuss teen classic The Breakfast Club! In this episode, we try to recast the film, freak out about how much money Vernon made, and discuss why this movie is both a classic and pretty problematic. Tune in next week for #MagicMikeByChristmas !!!!
It’s the last and final pick for Wesleigh’s birthday month! In this episode, we hear about our host’s origin story at a Halloween party, Matilda meowing into the mic and acting like Smeagol, and learn about the time when Wesleigh was a baton twirler.
For the second week of Wesleigh’s birthday month, we’re watching The Green Hornet, another movie she loves that Cameron Diaz happens to be in. In this episode, we debut Grilled Cheese Corner, Katie googles photos of young Christoph Waltz, and Wesleigh pitches a new film based on a classic episode of Batman with Adam West.
We’re kicking off Wesleigh’s birthday month while watch what J.J. Abrams has called the best Star Trek movie, Galaxy Quest! In this week’s show, we consider Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, locate some boats, and reminisce about Alan Rickman. This episode is brought to you by the letter G.
Grab your backpacks, we’re two-strapping it all the way to 21 Jump Street! We’re in the Tatumverse this week to cover a movie we didn’t want to like but did anyway. In this episode, we hear about Katie’s fandom for this franchise, Hannah joins us and spoils a 20 year old Nicholas Cage movie, and Wesleigh shares about an unlikely spinoff.
As promised, this minisode brings you the full convo trimmed from our Park and Rec last week! In this episode, Katie discusses a docuseries she’s been watching on YouTube about online celebrity and sociopathic tendencies and wonders if she is one (while Wesleigh reassures her that she isn’t).
You’ll know about this podcast the way you know about a good melon. That’s right, this week we watched the Meg Ryan classic When Harry Met Sally! In this episode of Viewing Party, we inadvertently honor Carrie Fisher, Katie talks a lot about sociopaths (see future minisode for full convo!), and we talk about recognizing when movies problematic.
We venture into the world of the Day of the Dead with our friend, Kristiane (and her pups Bubbles and Daisy, who you may remember from a previous show)! In this episode, we do a poor job of recapping the plot of Trolls, learn about Wesleigh’s Dad’s ‘secret ingredient’ recipes, and Katie has some technical questions about memorial photos.
Your hosts braved opening weekend theaters to see the new Marvel movie, Venom! In this episode, we get a 5 minute Tallulah update, our friends share their Hot Takes on the film, Wesleigh rants about the typography of the MCU, and we bring back our new dream sequence segment where we rewrite this movie into a romcom. #MagicMikeByChristmas
