In John 17, Jesus casts a vision for his people as both sent into the world and set apart from it. Following Jesus is supposed to make us different from the surrounding world, but too often we aren’t. The most important thing we can do to pass the faith on to the next generation is just to really be the church.  If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
Where do we start with Generosity? The Lord loves a cheerful giver, but there seems to be giving people, and non-giving people. May we assess the motives for our gifts and ask the Lord where we can continue to make a greater difference in His kingdom.  If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist

"God is the owner of everything," is a bold statement. But true! However, what does ownership look like for an all powerful God, verses what ownership looks like for us broken humans? The Scriptures teach that God is the ultimate owner of everything (Psalm 24:1), including everything we have and everything we are: our existence, our bodies, our time, and beyond. But as God graciously creates us, he also generously invites us to contribute to the beauty and goodness of his Creation (Genesis 2:15). The things that you have are not technically yours. How are you using what God gave you to make investments that might yield an eternal dividend (Matthew 25:14-27)? As a worship community, we took a detour for a week into the why? of communion. What are we supposed to feel when we take communion? Why do we do what we do as we gather? Does Paul's instruction in 1 Corinthians apply now? Lots to think about and break down!  If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
This episode reflects on John 4:23 and 1 Corinthians 11, explaining how communion points to our purpose: deep relationship with God and one another. Paul’s rebuke of the Corinthian church highlights how self-centered worship and division distort the meaning of the Lord’s Supper. The sermon calls listeners to examine divisions—by wealth, status, style, or preference—and to pursue authentic communion, welcoming all so the world recognizes Christians by their love. In this episode of Get Talking, the hosts unpack 1 Samuel 17 and use David’s story to explore how we can share testimonies of God’s faithfulness in everyday life. They offer practical tips for remembering and telling your story, listening to others, keeping Christ central, and encouraging the next generation to notice and share God’s work. In 1 Samuel 17, David doesn’t beat Goliath because he’s strong or smart or creative or lucky. David defeats Goliath because he remembers the ways God has rescued him in the past, and he trusts God to see him through the present. When we remember the stories of God’s faithfulness in our lives, we too can find the courageous faith to face our own giants.  If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
The next discipleship distinctive we look at is serving others. How do we process what Paul means in Romans when he says people will have the "gift of service." Is service for all? And in our modern day, wall to wall schedule, how can we serve God in our daily walk? Let's talk! In Mark 10:32-45 Jesus tells his disciples that he is headed for the cross. If he’s headed for the cross, how are we supposed to follow him? Jesus gives us the key: the way to follow Jesus is to serve! If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
One of the distinctives of our discipleship at KMC is giving generously. What does that mean? Are we still bound to a fixed "number" or tithe? What is the history behind that idea? And how can we honor God with our money? And a crucial update on the Watson family fantasy football league.  If you prefer to listen, stream, and/or watch, join us and subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kingwoodmethodist
As disciples of Jesus, we have received lavishly from the hands of a gracious God. When we offer our tithes and our gifts at the altar, our generosity participates in the generosity of God – and safeguards our hearts against the temptation toward the idolatry of seeking to secure our lives through wealth and other material means. Today we talked about our KMC discipleship distinctive of "Believe in and study the Bible as the word of God." So. When I say "Go read your bible..." What comes to mind? Almost always we think of cracking open the Bible with a coffee, on a couch, ect. But what if it looked different? Can it look different? As disciples of Jesus, we look to the Scriptures because we believe they faithfully witness to what God has done in the past, and we believe they are our best help to make us wise unto salvation. This week we look at a few things that the Bible is *not*, and we talk about what the Bible *is* and how we can encounter the Living God in its pages.
