In a week that we couldn't get Darren to shut up about his recent trip to the German Rhineland, we had a red from the Ahr Valley and a White from the Rheingau - both from historic estates. With Jacob starting to study for his WSET fortified exam, we decided to try a pile of fortifieds that will never be on any exam - all of those por WSET students missing out on th this breaks our hearts. Second part of the double episode - this time we went culty and hipster. Darren was all hipster in his flanno and uggies and Jake in a hoodie. It is bloody cold here. In the second half of the Sparkling Fleurieu episode, things get hectic. In the first of a double banger episode, we hit three wines and Jalapeños Wine 1 is a Yalumba Gen Organic Sauvignon Blanc which we tasted then added some frozen Jalapeños to find out about this years wine TikTok craze. With the drama of the now lost early episodes behind us, we decided to do an episode 1-10 retrospective. We prognosticated and came up with our faves from episodes 1-10. You will have to listen to find out which they were. Sadly, you can't go back and listen to the episodes we discussed some of them. You should know that we agreed on a couple, that Jacob bought every last bottle in Australia of one of them, and it can be hard to choose between your friends.
Jacob finally gets a pop filter and gives Darren back his explorer socks. Happy all round. We advertised three sparklers - one Aussie and two Italians, but we changed our mind and went 100% Italian - 2 sparklers and one still. Blatently false advertising. Also Darren threw out two of the bottles before we got the full details off them - oops and sorry.
