This week on Ask a Teacher, we answer a question from Rohullah in Afghanistan about using the words “sew” and “knit” and related terms.
We continue the story of “The Open Boat” by Stephen Crane. As we told you last week, the story is based on true events. In eighteen ninety-six, Crane was traveling to Cuba as a news reporter. On his way there, his ship sank in the Atlantic Ocean. Crane climbed into the last remaining lifeboat.
In the 1960s, scientists found the remains of a young man who was near the explosion of Mount Vesuvius 2,000 years ago. A study published in February shows that his brain had turned into small pieces of glass from the intense heat of an ash cloud.
