Vonda thinks not and says serial killers seek easy targets and that is why women must act strong on the street by walking with a confident air, keeping the heads up and also having tools at their disposal should someone attack. Always have your keys in your hands when walking to the car, have some kind of back up weapon, take a self defense class, and don't act weak with someone you may perceive to be looking at attack you. She tells the story of a man who found a woman's purse, found her phone number through info, called her up to return the purse. She invited him in, gave him a cup of coffee, then he thought she was so nice that he raped her. She called the police and he told Vonda in jail he was mad at her for calling the police and that "she wanted it." Vonda found this astounding the told him so to his face.
