Description

The WDW Ride Guide Podcast is an unofficial Disney podcast dedicated to exploring Walt Disney World one ride at a time. The sheer number of Disney rides make it nearly impossible to cover them all in an average family vacation. Add to that the incredible variety of storytelling throughout each park and it quickly becomes clear that every Disney rider will have a different favorite. The goal of our weekly podcast is to make it easier for you to plan ahead for the rides you don’t want to miss!

Kaltxi, and welcome to Pandora - The World of Avatar! You are now entering a hyper detailed alien landscape, designed to wow you at every turn. The film Avatar serves as the inspiration for this place, but the true aim of the Imagineers is to celebrate the magic of nature. They do so by bombarding your senses with the sights, sounds, and smells of Pandora. As with everything Disney does, there is a rich back story that accompanies this place. Today we will discuss that story, and see how it comes to life in the landscape, the rides, and the food of Pandora - The World of Avatar. Come inside, its fun inside! This phrase has been made famous by the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song, but it is also the perfect way to describe Disney Junior - Live on Stage! This upbeat show invites kids to dance and sing as they help Mickey & the gang prepare a surprise birthday party for Minnie. The clubhouse features favorites like Toodles and the Mouseketools, and also incorporates characters from Sophia the First, Doc McStuffins, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. All the characters are puppets, who interact with a very energetic live host named Casey. Together the crew tells a three part story that teaches kids the value of teamwork and friendship. Today, we will look at the creation of the show, how it has evolved over the years, and what you can expect when you visit today. Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a classic Disney show that makes the audience part of Ariel’s world through puppets, live performers, special effects, and clips from the film. The movie’s most popular musical numbers are put on display in some creative ways, and the small theater and special effects make for an immersive experience. The end result is a show that has entertained audiences for 25 years. The lifespan of this show has gone more than 20 years beyond its creators’ intentions. Today, we are going to tell you what the show was originally designed to be, how it has survived this long, and whether or not it is still a good addition to your next Disney vacation. The post Voyage of The Little Mermaid appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration is an interesting mix of live performers telling jokes and a karaoke style sing along to clips from the movie Frozen. Before we let the Arendelle historians take it away, let’s dive into the history of this show and see how it all came together. This week we are staying in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot, and discovering an experience unlike any we have talked about on the podcast to date. While I love me a good Disney ride or show, there is another magical way to experience the parks. I’m talking about Character Meet’n’Greets! This is your chance to come face to face and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. Trust me, these encounters can be some of the most memorable moments from a trip to Walt Disney World. The Magic Kingdom is usually the first park that comes to mind when thinking about Disney characters. While there are a lot of incredible character experiences at this park, it is not the only one with a wide range of characters. Epcot may surprise you when it comes to its international mix of characters available. Of course, none are more famous than the sisters from Arendelle. Today we are going to tell you where to find Anna & Elsa! The post Royal Sommerhus appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.

Today’s ride is one I have been waiting for almost a year to ride. I’m so happy to say that I had the opportunity on my recent Disney vacation to finally set sail to Arendelle. That’s right, we got to celebrate Summer Snow Day with Anna, Elsa, and the rest of the crew as we took a boat ride on Frozen Ever After. The post Frozen Ever After appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
One of our favorite experiences from our recent trip to Walt Disney World was an interactive game in Adventureland called A Pirate’s Adventure - Treasures of the Seven Seas. We had never taken the time to discover what this little adventure was all about until this trip. We knew from our Disney Cruise that our nephew James, loved the interactive game offered on the Disney Cruise Line. So, before we went to WDW I started looking at the various games offered in the parks. I read up on the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Agent P’s Adventure in Epcot, and A Pirate’s Adventure in Adventureland. For reasons we will discuss in just a moment, I decided the Pirate’s Adventure seemed like the best option for this trip. However, I had no idea it would be as big of a hit as it turned out to be. I’m so excited to tell you all about it today. The post A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
Today is our final daily recap episode and we are back at the Magic Kingdom!  We saved the best for last and had a magical day at Walt Disney World.  In this episode we talk about an overlooked treasure known as A Pirates Adventure ~ Treasure of the Seven Seas, and how we scored seven […] The post Daily Recap – Day 5 Magic Kingdom appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
Day 4 of our family trip took us to my favorite park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios!  We had a great time watching Disney Jr. Live on Stage for the first time and capped off the day with Fantasmic!  There were a lot of shows in between, but we could have used a few more rides for […] The post Daily Recap – Day 4 Disney’s Hollywood Studios appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
Day 3 has us going to Epcot and experiencing Frozen Ever After for the first time!  We also had a surprisingly short wait to meet Anna & Elsa at their Royal Somerhaus.  It was another great day at Walt Disney World and we have the full recap for you in the podcast! The post Daily Recap – Day 3 Epcot appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
Day 2 of our family vacation was a day of scrambling!  We arrived at the Animal Kingdom before rope drop as planned, but from there on we had to stay on our toes and make some changes to the schedule.  In this episode I talk about why you shouldn’t plan for the best case scenario, […] The post Daily Recap – Day 2 Animal Kingdom appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
Today we visited the Magic Kingdom and introduced our niece and nephew to the most magical place on Earth. They loved it! We didn't wait more than 15 minutes for any ride, took a 3 hour break and the afternoon, and still managed to do a whole lot. Today we are going to take a broader view of Walt Disney World and talk about the best ways to plan for your next Disney vacation. We don’t have Know Before You Go Essential Facts today, but instead let’s get started with my 7 Steps For Planning to Ride. The post Planning to Ride: Part One appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
As a Disney travel planner, one of the most frequently asked questions I get is about Disney’s Magical Express. What is it? Does it cost extra? How does it work? Well, we answer all of those questions in this week's podcast. Be sure to listen for details on how this complimentary service for Disney resort guests works. I’m very excited about today as we are kicking off a brand new series called Ride Report. This will be similar to our Ride Roundtable episodes, but only include one guest and be focused on reports from the parks. I had the idea a few weeks ago when my good friend Darrell Darnell came back from his first visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We got to talking about his day trip to the park, and I realized his experience was a little different from anything we have reported here on the Ride Guide. For the very first time on the WDW Ride Guide we are going to relax, pull up a chair, and let the dining room proudly present… our dinner. Actually, our breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and snack in between. I’m referring to two unique eateries inside the Magic Kingdom. The first is the arguably the best themed restaurant inside Walt Disney World, Be our Guest. This elaborate dining venue offers guests a chance to step inside the Beast’s castle and soak up rich surroundings inspired by the animated film. The second stop on our culinary tour today will be Gaston’s Tavern. Although much smaller in scale, this macho retreat is full of rip roaring fun. Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage tells the entire story from the 1991 animated film in a lively, 25 minute broadway-style show. As you can imagine, condensing an 84 minute animated classic into a 25 minute show isn’t easy. However, the highlights of the story, and more importantly, the well loved musical numbers, are represented. That, of course, includes my favorite Gaston! The post Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
This month we are celebrating a tale as old as time, one that can be found in multiple parks, and enjoyed in multiple ways.  Of course, I’m referring to Beauty & the Beast.  Today, we start by looking at one of the most unique character experiences in Walt Disney World.  Enchanted Tales with Belle is […] The post Enchanted Tales with Belle appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
Today, we are talking about another backstage tour, this one in the Magic Kingdom. You may have heard of the Keys to the Kingdom tour before, it is one of the most well known tours offered. Even so, I had a lot of questions about this tour before embarking down Main Street U.S.A. Questions like, will this spoil the magic? What backstage areas are included? What’s for lunch? And is it worth the extra money? Well, today we will answer all of those questions and more. The post Backstage Pass: Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom Tour appeared first on WDW Ride Guide.
