WICB Station Manager Sam Ives talks with Evan Friedell and Packy Lunn of the band Jimkata on Homebrew. The Ithaca-based group plays synth-heavy rock. This will be their first album since their 2016 release, In Motion; five singles have already been shared by the band. Topics touched on include the challenges of being an artist during a global pandemic, the importance of music to a person’s identity, and what the live music scene will look like in 2021. Bonfires marks a transition for the group; after a decade of touring, this is their first album created during a break from performing.
Homebrew host Samuel Ives sits down with Jackson Velli to discuss his new musical project, Picture Us Tiny. This eleven-track pop-punk album was just released last Friday as the Syracuse University sophomore's first LP. Samuel and Jackson go over what it's like to write songs without the guidance of music theory, the challenges of making music during an international pandemic, the importance of TikTok for artists breaking onto the scene, and much more.
