Jeremy owns Shine Insurance Agency with McKenzie. He’s a teacher at heart and he simplifies insurance by giving step-by-step guidance along the way. Before Shine, he was an elementary school teacher, helping countless kids fall in love with art, math, science, and writing. Big things often have small beginnings. Though fairly new and a couple of years into his mobile home parks career, our guest today made good progress on amassing several mobile home parks and is currently growing his affordable home business. Ryan graduated from the Farmer School of Business at Miami University, Ohio in 2012 with a BS in Finance. During his academic career, Ryan played four years of collegiate baseball on the side. After graduation, he worked in the finance industry prior to getting into the mobile home park industry fulltime. Currently, his portfolio has grown to over five mobile home parks, spreading across 230 lots in the Midwest and Southeast Ohio. Ryan also serves as the director of operations for Buckeye Communities, where he oversees operations on over 500 lots, spreading across 8 parks in Ohio and Michigan. Ryan has been involved with almost every aspect of finding, running, turning around, re-financing, and selling mobile home park communities. In this episode, Ryan shares his practices and advice which he gained through a lot of hands-on experience; from acquisitions to property management, and to capital expenditures (capex). Communication is the sister of leadership. Meet Michael, a real estate investor who believes in giving and getting proper communication can serve as a pedestal for more business deals in the field. Michael is an entrepreneur whose company, Detroit Riverside Capital, is responsible for investing in and developing mixed use and multifamily properties throughout the Metro Detroit area. Chris started his real estate investing journey in Jan of 2016 by trying to flip houses on Long Island NY, but ultimately failed to flip a single house despite spending tens of thousands of dollars and several months trying. Chris and his team tried pivoting to purchasing tax deed properties in Philadelphia, but quickly realized it wasn't for them. From there Chris started to learn about multifamily and started by investing passively in an 8-unit property, then Joint Venturing on another 100 units worth over $4.5 mil. From there Chris quit his full-time job in finance and joined the Toro team full time in Aug 2016. Chris focuses on managing, sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring new assets for Toro’s Multifamily Portfolio and runs the Florida region of Toro's portfolio. Toro has acquired over 4000 units worth over $285 mil.
