Consistency

2025-05-1943:11

All new WooCast, the best show for coverage on the Worcester Red Sox! Hosted by Worcester Academy Head Football Coach Jeremy Bandy and Coach Jon Guynes down at the Haverford School in Philadelphia. We review the week for the Sox, offering our expert analysis and insight on the team's performance. After starting out with two victories against the mighty Iron Pigs of Lehigh, they lost 3 in a row. They were on the road at Buffalo and split the series 3-3. The team is playing better than they did in the early part of last season. Hitting looks to be improved and offensively they are scoring more runs. The problem is consistency, which we talked about last year as well. I believe the team invested in pitching and we have seen good outings. If they consistently receive run support, the WOOSOX easily could catch fire and be a tough team to beat in June. Plus, we always play well at Polar Park, they have outstanding fan support and when the Sox are home, opponents are up against a dangerous team! Catch WooCast weekly, only on 97.9 Unity Radio, your home for the BEST content on the Worcester Red Sox!

The WOOCAST crew is back with the best sports show in Worcester, only on 97.9 Unity Radio, Executive Producer Ernie Floyd. The Worcester Red Sox ended their series at Norfolk on a high note picking up a victory and scoring a lot of runs. We battled early on with Toledo showing the power of our offense. Roman Anthony has improved tremendously. Kristan Campbell was a call up and has been producing. Jamie Westbrook has been on fire, dropping bombs each night. Vaughn Grissom and Mark Contraras have picked up the bats as well, knocking the ball all over. Pitching, our favorite player, the War Eagle himself Richard "Big Dickie" Fitts picked up two victories against Toledo. Van Belle, Hagenman, Olds, Horn have done an excellent job and finished the weekend off strong. Luis Guerrero has been on fire in relief duty and recorded his first save. He is a top talent who will be on the big club soon. Worcester is in 2nd place and has a winning record for the first time this season. They currently are on a 3 game winning streak against the first place Rochester Red Hawks and have momentum. We could see them win the division and make the playoffs, what a story coming back from 7th place to 1st, manager Chad Tracy has done an outstanding job! We want to thank our sponsors at Forty Second Brew Co, they have a variety of pilsner's, IPAs, and Lagers, along with an amazing tasting room. Located in Kingston, Massachusetts, head down there because there are events and specials every night!

In Worcester, Massachusetts exists a show like none other. On 97.9 FM Unity Radio, WOOCAST is the top-rated Baseball show in the 508. With insight, expert analysis, and pure entertainment to go along with breaking down each game of the week, nobody covers the Worcester Red Sox like co-host Frank Cristiano with the best radio/podcast host in the UNIVERSE Steve Cully leading the way. After trading top prospect Niko Kavadas, Worcester is clawing their way back to make up for his lost production. Bobby Dalbac has stepped up leading the team with 15 Home Runs to go along with his 51 RBIs. Nathan Hickey has 13 HRs with 54 RBIs from behind the plate and as a DH. However, none other than the Mustache Man himself, Mickey Gasper has stepped up his play since his opportunity and was leading the team with a .401 batting average before the Boston Red Sox brought him up to the big club. I've been a Mustache Man fan from the start, he made the most of his playing time, congratulations to Mickey and his family! After playing Lehigh Valley, Buffalo, Scranton, and Syracuse, Worcester has moved up to 5th in the standings, achieving a winning record at 22-21 and is 6 games behind Rochester to make the playoffs with 6 weeks to play. Pitching is improving with Richard "Big Dickie" Fitts leading the team with 6 wins. Shugart, Gambrell have 4 wins while Brian Van Belle has 5 on the year. Uwasawa has also pitched better of late winning his 5th game of the season. Chase Meidroth, Nick Sogard, Jamie Westbrook, Triston Casas and the return of Dalton Guthrie? I smell a winning streak coming! Lets go Woo SOX and make the playoffs! WOOCAST is sponsored by Forty Second Brew Co located in Kingston, MA. They have a variety of Pilsners, Lagers, and IPA's, along with a special tasting room to go with outdoor seating. Check out their website at www.fortysecondbrewco.com

In Worcester, Massachusetts exists a radio station called 97.9 FM Unity Radio. On this incredible platform is the number 1 rated baseball show, called WOOCAST, that covering our Worcester Red Sox. Monday and Wednesday nights at 6pm, do not miss the most comprehensive and expert analysis only on 97.9 FM with Executive Producer Erine Floyd. Frank Cristiano co-hosted and we talked about the team fighting hard but ultimately did not make up a lot of ground in the international league standings. Going 2-5 against Scranton at home was not what we needed. But they finally defeated them on the second game of a double header winning 7-4. Unfortunately, they dropped 3 straight before finding a 3-game winning streak of their own which ended August 1st against Buffalo. Uwasawa leads the team with 6 wins now after Saturday's game. Gonzalez has picked up two wins and Luetge has also been improving. They lost against Syracuse last night and are showing such grit, along with the fighting spirit that makes up this roster. The team has heart, plays with a special passion and energy. With two months left in the season, Worcester can easily catch fire and go on a winning streak to bring them into the playoffs. Trading top prospect Niko Kavadas will definitely make things harder, he was leading the team in home runs and RBIs. Bobby Dalbac, Nick Sogard, Nick Yorke, Nathan Hickey, Emmanuel Valdez, Jamie Westbrook, Chase Meidroth are more than talented enough of picking up the slack offensively. Then, we have our difference maker, who puts deep fear into hearts and souls of our opponents, none other than the mustache man himself, Mickey Gasper. Regardless, whether he is behind the plate, playing first base, catching or in the lineup as a DH, the mustache man is instant offense. In only 36 games, he is batting .385 with 6 big home runs and 29 RBIs. Mickey makes the most out of every opportunity he receives. Hitting the ball well, coming through in the clutch, and now he is being walked often, which has led to him scoring more runs. Worcester has a talented pitching staff, led by the WAR EAGLE himself "Big Dickie" Richard Fitts is breaking away from his recent struggles, Alexander is coming around, Shugart, Van Belle are figuring it out. Guerrero throws straight fire as a middle reliever and still has 4 wins. Lucas Luetge has 4 wins, leads the team with 6 saves and we will put our rally caps on because our Worcester Red Sox, with manager Chad Tracy's creativity, will not disappoint!
We would like to thank our sponsors at Forty Second Brew Co located in Kingston, Massachusetts. Check out their website at www.fortysecondbrewco.com to see all their weekly specials. WOOCAST is the number 1 ranked baseball talk show in Worcester, only on 97.9 FM Unity Radio with executive producer Ernie Floyd. Nobody brings you the best of the best like we do with a spectacular broadcast team. Jeremy Bandy, The BINK, Jon Guynes and the BEST radio host in the UNIVERSE Steve Cully recap all the action from our Worcester Red Sox. The team is starting to mesh with devasting pitching and we are now bringing the wood behind them as the bats are heating up. Nick Yorke has been a huge addition and batting well over 300. Niko Kavadas leads the team in Home Runs and RBIs. Eddie Alvarez, Bobby Dalbac, and Nick Sogard are in a three way tie with 12 Home Runs each. Jamie Westbrook has come alive, improving his batting average to .282 and is 4th on the team with 43 RBIs My favorite player, none other than the mustache man himself, Mickey Gasper has grabbed the brass ring anytime he plays. In 27 games he is batting an astounding .391 with 4 crucial Home Runs and 21 RBIs. Chase Meidroth and Nathan Hickey have been the foundation of the team, consistently playing well at the plate and in the field. Chase Shugart leads the team pitching with a 4-1 record. While the man himself, Richard "Big Dickie" Fitts has the most overall wins with 5 after two difficult outings. But the former War Eagle is a fighter, and his numbers will be on the rise. Lucas Luetge leads the team with 6 saves. The Worcester Red Sox are 11-12 the second half of the season and upcoming homestands at Polar Park can move them up in the standings. They are only 4 games out of first place and the team is coming together at the right time. Don't miss expert analysis from Jeremy, the Bink and Jon from an always entertaining, informative episode of WOOCAST!

WOOCAST was broadcast live from Polar Park only on 97.9 FM Unity Radio, currently the highest rated baseball program in Worcester, MA with Executive Producer Ernie Floyd. A special thanks to the Worcester Red Sox, they are a first-class organization and took care of our crew. Thank you, Mr. Wanless, for providing us outstanding seats, Jeremy Bandy, The BINK, Mr. Tom Wells, and I enjoyed a wonderful experience. WOOCAST is sponsored by Forty Second Brew Co, owned by friend and former teammate Steve Darby. Mr. Wells and I made the journey down to Kingston, MA to experience the place in the flesh. They have a variety of pilsners, lagers, and IPA's, along with a fantastic tasting room. With an outdoor deck and good food, make the trip to Forty Second Brew Co and head to their website at www.fortysecondbrewco.com. We recap the week on the road for the Sox and seeing improvements. When they develop consistency, the team has a wealth of talent that can beat anyone. I also interviewed a few kids on the air; however I may have scared them, and they didn't really answer my questions Friday night, Worcester lost to Syracuse 4-2 and they missed opportunities with runners in scoring position a few times. Saturday, it was like a different team showed up, Cooper Criswell pitched 4 scoreless innings for the Sox as they shut out Syracuse 4-0. The Mustache Man Mickey Gaspar hit a 2 run Home Run in the 6th inning, Mata pitched the 8th and 9th to close out a big win. Husky Talk sponsor and friend Sean Rabinowitz came to the game Saturday with his family. We had a tremendous time, and his daughter was very thoughtful. She heard me say the cotton candy looked good and asked her dad to order some.... only to give it to me. Sean has a special family; his wife is extremely nice, and I loved watching his son Ben have a memorable moment attending his first baseball game. Mr. Wells and I had an amazing weekend, totally worth the trip. Again, thank you Mr. Wanless and the entire Worcester Red Sox organization for being so good to us!

Listen to WOOCAST on 97.9 FM Unity Radio, we are the top Baseball Talk show in Worcester and offer our listeners the best broadcast team around. Jeremy Bandy, The BINK, Jon Guynes and the BEST host in the UNIVERSE Steve Cully. The BINK blew us off to go on vacation. Jeremy and Jon picked up the slack offering expert analysis. The Sox finished the week strong in Buffalo with back-to-back wins at Buffalo. Van Belle and Lutage were the winning pitchers. Lucas Lutege was forced into action early with Big Richard "Dickie Fitts" struggling in 2 innings pitched and Ryan Zeferjahn picked up his third save on the year. Brian Van Belle achieved his second win on the season while the bats came alive, Worcester scored 12 runs. Niko Kavadas, Bobby Dalbac, Nick Sogard, Nathan Hickey and the return of Romy Gonzalez sparked the bats alive against Columbus. Wilyer Abreu on a rehab assignment, lit it up on the field, making a difference in each game. Niko Kavadas leads the squad with 14 Home Runs and 49 RBIs, while Nick Sogard has 39 runs batted in. Worcester had a good weekend vs Columbus with two straight wins on the weekend. Criswell won Saturday, however, our excitement is to see Big Richard "Dickie" Fitts pitch a strong, powerful outing, a shut out win 2-0 on Saturday. Richard has the most wins on the team with 5. Especially with runners in scoring position, Jeremy and Bink said they can't afford to lose those opportunities. Pitching analyst Jon Guynes said Uwasawa has to show more consistency and can't give up all those earned runs. However, to stop the bleeding, what does the team do? They call on the man himself, big Richard "Dickie" Fitts to stop the bleeding. The War Eagle himself went 7 innings and got a must needed win. WOOCAST - Week 4

2024-05-1459:47

Jeremy Bandy, The BINK and Jon Guynes are back for another episode of WOOCAST. Only on 97.9 FM Unity Radio, the best sports show in Worcester, Executive Producer Ernie Floyd. The guys commend our WooSox on finishing out last weekend with big wins against Lehigh at home. Much needed before going on a long road trip to Buffalo. The team battled back and forth with Buffalo. It was nice to see more consistency coming from the pitchers. Transactions made a difference as Gonzalez was sent down and our favorite pitcher Uwasawa was also sent back down. Chase Meidroth, Emmanual Valdez, Niko Kavadas are hitting the ball well, knocking in RBIs, the difference being batting when it counts, having runners in scoring position. My completely biased favorite players Jamie Westbrook, Bobby Dalbac, and Nick Sogard are heating up, along with the weather. Jeremy Bandy and Jon Guynes believe pitcher Richard Fitts is developing nicely while Luis Guerrero is at 23 years old, is a top pitcher who throws the gas. Buffalo has a top roster and Worcester will not go quietly into the night. A home series with Wilkes/Barre is just what the doctor ordered. The Sox are home all week and against the best team in the division. They take care of business at Polar Park and hopefully will move up in the standings. At the end of the episode an interview with new Red Sox Hall Of Famer Trot Nixon. You don’t want to miss it!
WOOCAST WEEK 3

WOOCAST WEEK 3

2024-05-0601:04:56

The best radio host in the UNIVERSE brings you a team of baseball experts. Only on 97.9 Unity Radio, Executive Producer Ernie Floyd. We have the Head Football Coach at Worcester Academy Jeremy Bandy, joined by our version of Peter Gammons, Worcester Academy Offensive Line Coach Mike Binkoski and featuring our new pitching analyst Jon Guynes. Jeremy and Mike are season ticket holders, along with having press passses to interview players. After a difficult road trip to Toledo, the Sox returned to Polar Park winning 3 out of 4 games against Lehigh Valley and winning 5 out of their last 8. The WOOSOX took a big loss with Japanese sensation pitcher Naoyuki Uwasawa being moved up to the Red Sox. He went 2-1 in his 3 appearances striking out 17 in only 15 innings pitched. Coach Chad Tracy is sad to see him go, leaving a hole in the starting rotation but thrilled Uwasawa will be making appearances in Boston, most likely as a middle reliever. Player movement is frequent so he always could make the drive into Worcester if needed for a start. Rob Refsynder played a few games on assignment and made his presence felt dropping a bomb of a Home Run at Polar Park, being in the top 5 in RBIs on the team and we saw him play first base for a game as he is typically a right fielder. Bobby Dalbac, Niko Kavadas, and Nick Sogard all are having their bats warm up as the weather is getting nicer in May. Outfielder Corey Rosier struggled early on and has been hitting the ball solid the last few games, knocking in RBIs and scoring runs. Two more games at the luxurious Polar Park and then the real test comes when WOOSOX play a whopping 7 game series on the road against their nemesis Buffalo who they will be looking to exact revenge. There is currently a log jam in the standings, Buffalo is in 2nd place. If the Sox can win 4 out of 7 they will move up to 3rd place and right back in the hunt for the playoffs
WOOCAST- WEEK 2

WOOCAST- WEEK 2

2024-05-0401:02:38

We are blessed to have the best baseball analysts in the business...or at least in Worcester. Again, Worcester Academy Head Coach Jeremy Bandy, Worcester Academy Offensive Line Coach Mike Binkoski as our resident Peter Gammons, and now featuring Coach Jon Guynes as our middle reliever analyst, we have the best broadcast team in the country for minor league baseball. Jeremy is ready to make the trip to Syracuse just for the legendary Dinosaur BBQ restaurant. Bink jumps right in and says the Sox are a different team at Polar Park. He and Jeremy have season tickets, along with press passes, to enjoy a fun filled experience at Polar Park. The first home game was exciting as the WOOSOX won 7-4 against the Durham Bulls and broke out a new shiny starting Japanese pitcher Naoyuki Uwasawa who was fired up. He had 5 strike outs in 5 innings of work, gave up 4 earned runs but other than a 3 run homerun, he showed he may not be in Worcester long Jeremy shares how it was cool to see Rob Refsnyder playing first base and had a very good game on a rehab assignment. Thats the beauty of the minor leagues, Refsnyder typically plays in right field, while tonight, he was at a different position. Bandy was also able to tell him he is one of his favorite players. Jon Guynes pointed out how the team overall hit much better with runners in scoring position going 5-11 as opposed to against Syracuse leaving runners on base and batting poorly with 2 outs. We go over the series against the Durham Bulls. It was spectacular to see 7,921 fans come to Polar Park for the home season opener. Overall the Sox went 4-2 against Durham with one game to play before heading on the road to Toledo

WOOCAST

2024-05-0401:02:12

The best in the business come together to recap the week of the Worcester Red Sox. Worcester Academy Head Football Coach Jeremy Bandy, Worcester Academy Offensive Line Coach Mike Binkoski, and the best Radio Host in the UNIVERSE, Steve Cully are here to some WOOSOX baseball. Bink and Jeremy talk about the challenges of playing on the road in the minor leagues. Worcester struggled at the start of the season out in Buffalo, losing several games right out of the gate. Then Jeremy explains how they have to go to Syracuse and of course, are caught in terrible weather conditions which caused games to be cancelled. Unfortunately, the Sox did not get much time off as they played in two doubleheaders, which are 7 innings to make things easier on an already smaller roster. The guys talk about a rough start to the season going 2-5 against Buffalo, followed up by a 2-6 series against Syracuse. Players moving around early as SS Romy Gonzalez, the hottest player, on a rehab assignment, headed back to Boston after 3 games. Bink talked about how WOOSOX manager Chad Tracey had to get creative with his lineups, playing infielders in the outfield, changing the line ups, whatever it takes to get the bats going. You will get the best WOOSOX coverage on 97.9 Unity Radio with Executive Producer Ernie Floyd.
