It was one for the ages as NXT had two major Tag Team Title matches, live on the USA Network. Imperium had a successful defense against Breezango, but not after the Fashionists mocked their opponents by entering the ring as “Emporium.” Meanwhile in the main event The WWE Womens Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Bayley defeated a very game Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart. Also, NXT GM William Regal set up a massive triple threat match for the North American Title next week, pitting Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor against the champion Keith Lee.

NXT comes to you from the Performance Center. With NXT Takeover: In Your House on the horizon, tonight’s action set the stage for the special event. Drake Maverick defied expectations to win his group in the ongoing NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship tournament. Johnny Gargano made short work of Adrian Alanis in an open challenge match. Charlotte Flair teamed up with a very game Chelsea Green defeated the team of Rhea Ripley and IO Shirai, when Charlotte pinned Shirai via leveraged pin. Also, Matt Riddle got put to sleep by Timothy Thatcher in a steel cage, with the Hall of famer Kurt Angle as the special referee!

An explosive episode of NXT emanates from Florida this week as Karrion Kross has a brand new challenger in Tomasso Ciampa. It was just a few short weeks ago when Kross attacked the Blackheart, and Ciampa returned tonight with a challenge. Newcomer Dexter Lumis came up short against Roderick Strong, but made sure to leave his mark with the Undisputed Era right after. After a three way tie occurs in the Interim Cruiserweight Title Tournament, Kushida, Jake Atlas and Drake Maverick are set for a triple threat match next week on NXT.

Adam Cole defeats Velveteen Dream in the co-main event of NXT this week. For weeks Dream was terrorizing the Undisputed Era, but the faction got the upper hand. Also, Charlotte Flair defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Io Shirai but got herself intentional disqualified. However, Rhea Ripley returned to settled her score with the Queen. NXT was live from the Performance Center once again, and with it came three huge matches for the round-robin, Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. Jake Atlas, Kushida and El Hijo Del Fantasma scored wins over Drake Maverick, Tony Nese, and Jack Gallagher respectively. Also, Charlotte Flair paid the “HBIC” Mia Yim a visit after the latter won her match against Jessi Kamea. Meanwhile the couple of Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae released a chilling video that said they were done placating the NXT Universe.

An action packed night of NXT action kicked off with “The Prince,” Finn Balor, winning a hard fought contest against Imperium member Fabian Aichener. Balor’s feud with Walter has hit a fever pitch, but Balor also has his eyes set on the Velveteen Dream. During a promo where Dream called Adam Cole one of the greatest NXT champions ever, Balor had no problem objecting. Also the NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship tournament kicked off today with an exciting match in Group A. Akira Tozawa bested Isiah “Swerve” Scott to go 1-0 in the “Group Stage.”

Tonight’s episode was all about Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. The former members of DIY have been through hell and back, and this match was billed as their ‘last beat.’ The Blackheart vs The Rebel Heart battled for almost an hour in an undisclosed location with Gargano eventually getting the win with the help of Candice LeRae. Meanwhile, Io Shirai bested five other women in a ladder match to become the new #1 Contender for Charlotte Flair’s NXT Women’s Championship.

With NXT Takeover Tampa canceled following global events, Takeover comes to two episodes of NXT on USA. Tonight was the the first half of proceedings, highlighted by a massive women’s gauntlet match and a triple threat match for the North American Championship. Speaking of the NA division, The “Limitless One” Keith Lee retained after defeating both Damian Priest and Dominick Dijakovic. Dakota Kai gets a spot in the Number One Contender’s Women’s Ladder match after defeating Shotzi Blackheart in that gauntlet match. Dexter Lumis made quick work of a debuting Jake Atlas, and Kushida won his match against Joaquin Wilde. Wilde, upset with is unimpressive win-loss record, was ABDUCTED backstage by a shadowy group for his troubles!

NXT is live from the performance center with one of the most stacked wrestling cards in recent weeks. Austin Theory battled Tyler Breeze and while Theory had the upper hand early, “The Gorgeous One” eventually prevailed. The North American Champion, Keith Lee dominates Cameron Grimes as he retains his title. Two #1 contender matches tonight include Mia Yim defeating Dakota Kai and Teegan Nox defeating Deonna Purrazzo which will culminate in a NXT TakeOver match in Tampa. The Broserweights (Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne) take on Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly) for the NXT Tag Team Titles retaining their championship title. The episode ended in a two man brawl with Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa of epic proportions destroying the WWE Performance Center.

With Worlds Collide in the rearview mirror, another week of action hits the campus of Full Sail University. The team of Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne—the “Broserweights”— were crowned the winners of the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Classic after defeating the Grizzled Young Veterans.
