Description

Silindo Mabena here. I’ve always wanted to become an encouraging influence on others. By being supportive and positive, I hope to be able to help others make the most of their potential but furthermore to remind them that they aren’t alone in this thing called life. Filled with mistakes, growth and failure, I hope this platform can be a safe space for everyone and anyone who takes a listen. Enjoy!

We may make our plans, but God has the last word” “A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them”
As I end my brief conversation on Forgiving Our Parents, I’m joined by my lovely friend Xolisile Thwala. I’ve enjoyed listening to her story and how far she’s come in her journey to forgiving her parents. What a difficult conversation and even more difficult is the reality of the let downs we must face and liberty ourselves from pertaining to our parents . This was fun. Enjoy.
“To forgive is not to condone the bad things our parents have done. It's not to deny their selfishness, their rejections, their meanness, their brutality, or any of the other misdeeds, character flaws, or limitations that may attach to them.” - Oprah.com

Welcome back! As I kickstart season two, I want to start with a sweet reminder of the beauty of becoming. A journey of self-discovery, learning and unlearning and being kinder towards ourselves. I also share snippets of what to expect throughout season two and overall gratitude to be back at it. Enjoy!
Unfortunately, no amount of tears, depression or self-pity will ever bring the dream job, the finances or the better future closer. We’ve got to be more aggressive about our lives, goals and everything pertaining to our growth. Let’s talk about it.
In a world that often defines masculinity in a narrow way, it's important to remember that men need safe spaces to be their authentic selves too. I had such a great conversation with my beautiful guest, Athule. Her insights and perspective were truly inspiring! Definitely check out her channel - Grounded in Grace!

There's a deep well of contentment and self-fulfillment within me now. I've finally taken charge of my own happiness, and it feels amazing. I confronted why I used to outsource my joy, and now I can see the difference between true fulfillment and fleeting distractions. This place of self-awareness feels like home. And hey, getting the hang of this podcasting thing too – enjoy!

Becoming a Mom at 17

Hey guys, being 16 and pregnant, 17 and already a mom? No child’s play. I published this one in particular for the younger version of myself. Hearing everything I said on this episode would’ve made it a little easier, I wish I had a big sis who walked me through it. To know you’re not alone and you will make it I think is all we need to be reminded of every now and again. I hope someone takes away from this. Enjoy
Having the right kind of adult friendships/relationships is such an important thing, with that said - Soultribe relationships are anything but shallow. There's a deep resonance at a soul level that you intuitively understand is different and special. It’s the type of friendships and relationships that are seamless and real and to be honest, at this stage of our lives it’s important to know who falls part of our individual soultribe. Enjoy. :)

Healing from sexual trauma is important because it is a process of reclaiming power, control, and self-worth. It is an important step in the journey of recovery, to regain trust and to learn how to cope with feelings of vulnerability and shame. Let’s talk about it.
The beautiful thing about embracing the “ugly” version of you is that no one can use it against you. And in retrospect, as the ever so inspirational Rorisang Thandekiso said “not forgetting helps you have empathy, not forgetting helps you have the remembrance of how ratcheted you were when Jesus found you, not forgetting helps you remember that everyday you fall short of God’s glory.” Let’s unpack this together.

Find Your Way Back.

Find Your Way Back.

Take things today at a time beautiful, not days at a time or weeks at a time or even months at a time. Ease your mind. Embrace your 24 hours with kindness and genuine intention while being in constant remembrance that tomorrow isn’t promised. Let’s unpack.
With so much happening in our lives, we are bound to feel emotionally drained. With that being said, emotional decompression is one way to cope with all the heaviness we’re dealing with. It is a way to process and release emotions in a healthy manner. It can take many forms such as talking, journaling, or other forms of self-expression. Let’s talk about it.
“As you become clear on the type of people you want in your life, you will often find loneliness before you find love. You will be called to sit in solitude before you meet the people that can reach you at your level.”
I pray God pours out His spirit as He reminds us today that He does not dwell on our past mistakes, guilt or shame. We serve an understanding Father who is well aware that we’re not going to get it right every time. No matter how far gone, don’t ever think you can’t be re-routed back to the prosperous future He has for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) Healing isn’t a destination. It’s a journey. There’s many layers to our healing journeys and different “depths” of it that depend on our unique experiences. I’ve unpacked my personal perspective on healing. I hope my healing journey inspires others to take it easy on their own journey. Enjoy!
