Description
Wajibiqa is a collection of interesting thoughts around society & culture, by a curious being called Khasoha Samita.
The idea is to express thoughts that will have undertones of, but will not be limited to, justice, uncertainty, mental health, art, religion, advocacy, philosophy, & gender, in the context of safety & responsibility.
The word “Wajibiqa” is coined from a Swahili word “kuwajibika” which means, “to take responsibility”.
So, Khasoha Samita is interested in exploring the vast spectrum of what kuwajibika would look like in this modern day & age.

Art is a powerful instrument for social transformation.
Art is a gift that CAN bring healing to the individual with the gift, and to society as a whole. Art can therefore be a very powerful tool in therapy.
If Creatives take time to sit with the art that they have created, most times it could help them SEE the things that are caught up in their subconscious.
And if as a society we take time to listen, see, hear & savour art, most times it will tell us a lot about ourselves, as a people.
So, how can Creatives practice how to release themselves from any and all encumbrances that make it difficult to enjoy the gift of healing that exists within?
Let’s talk about it in the 13th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast
Ambiguity; gender ambiguity, carries within it the possibility of a crisis, the possibility of confusion.
And in the same breath, fluidity by itself, as a concept, can be a valuable posture.
Fluidity is an invitation to continuously evaluate what you believe, and adopt a willingness to shift swiftly if you come into the realization that your theory is wrong.
So how do you balance those two?
How do you learn to exist in the tension of holding these two SEEMINGLY contradicting truths at the same time?
Let’s talk about it in the 12th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast
______
This episode’s methali on Jifunze Kiswahili;
Mwenda pole hajikwai; a person that takes their time, goes slow, is not in a hurry, that person, does not stub their toe.
As much as being with people can be highly triggering, being with people can be as useful as looking into a mirror that helps us see the spaces in ourselves that need work.
In the 11th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast I challenge those of us who are on a journey toward healing to learn how to belong to communities that support and admonish, rather than exploit, enable thus derail.
The month of May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. May you have the courage and curiosity that will lead you to investigate yourself in a very honest manner, and to OFTEN intentionally choose self-awareness over, and over again.
_____
This episode’s methali on Jifunze Kiswahili;
Kinyozi hajinyoi; a barber does not shave his own head.
As human beings, we often gravitate toward false dichotomies that present choices as an either-or, and most times it’s not an either-or situation, it’s just that finding options beyond the either-or requires a lot of work, a lot of conversation, a lot of grace, a lot of gentleness, a lot of patience, and so the either-or alternative becomes the default and easier option.
In the 10th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast I challenge us to learn how to exist in the tension; the tension of holding two SEEMINGLY contradicting truths, at the same time. For often you’ll find that both can exist together.
______
This episode’s methali on Jifunze Kiswahili;
Fimbo ya mbali, haiuwi nyoka; a weapon that is not in your hand, cannot kill a snake.
How often we shift uneasily at the thought of taking on a new journey toward being, at a stage that is “late in life”.
How often we hold on anxiously to who we think we are, swatting off any perceived ideas of a call to adjust at a point that is “late in life”.
And so, how often we settle comfortably into mediocrity.
______
This episode’s methali on Jifunze Kiswahili;
Ukiona vyaelea, jua vimeundwa; if you see vessels floating, be YE cognizant of the fact that, a lot of effort has been put into achieveing that state of keeping them afloat.
This episode is meant to address trail-blazers, innovators, creators of things, and generally just human beings who are travelling down roads that are rarely travelled.
What do you do when society’s economy of belonging will cost you your true face?
In the 8th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast I share my thoughts and musings on the complexities of existing in “nothing else to compare it to” realitites, and therein journeying through continuously and intentionally putting effort into placing value on the things that actually matter.

_________
This episode’s methali on Jifunze Kiswahili;
Mgema akisifiwa, tembo hulitia maji; immediately after a palm wine tapper is praised, that’s when he dilutes the palm wine with water.
Addressing difficult issues can be a source of great unease; confronting someone’s lack of integrity, or lack of respect, or lack of truth.
However, the aftermath of such conversations can be very progressive.
In the 7th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast I share my thoughts and musings on the dilemmas that existed in my journey toward reclaiming my voice from years of voiceless-ness, learning the importance of being real, and the importance of communicating even when it felt unfamiliar, unsettling, awkward, and highly uncomfortable.

Love MUST, of necessity, exist within a plane called freedom. However, freedom does not come without a cost to the individual, or to those around them. In the 6th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast I share my thoughts and musings on the dilemmas surrounding love in an era where the general attitude is that we must get WHAT we want, WHEN we want it, and HOW we want it.

Sometimes as human beings we check out so often from life realities that we may not even know what it means to be present. We're not even aware that flight mode has become a comfortable posture. Responsibility therefore may look like, diligent journeying into awareness of self.
In the 5th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast I share my thoughts and musings on the appeal of absence, and how, “PRESENCE” can be a heavy word.
Pull a seat, welcome to the table.
When ego says that you have to make every shot, and ego says that you have to be perfect, responsibility may look like, getting rid of this fixed mindset, and adopting in its place, a growth mindset.
In the 4th episode of the #WajibiqaPodcast I share my thoughts and musings on the burdens surrounding perfectionism and the beauty of being present for process and practice.

What do you do, when uncomfortable is informative; uncomfortable questions, uncomfortable inquiries, uncomfortable journeys, uncomfortable conversations? Responsibility, sometimes looks like, having a PERSONAL stand for the things that you subscribe to, and not just doing things because that's how they have been done from time immemorial.
We learn a lot from what we see rather than what we're told. How subtly therefore nonsense slips through the cracks of one's life, their way of thinking, and being. Responsibility therefore may look like, sitting to interrogate what you know within, and what you see around.
Can you accurately say that being an adult who does not have a source of income is being a failed and an irresponsible adult? [especially if the adult in question makes no effort to find a way to make money] Is that failure & irresponsibility?
