Description

Helmed by Hollywood Black power couple Ryan Michelle Bathe and Sterling K. Brown, We Don’t Always Agree offers an elevated view of learning and growing together even (or especially) when we don’t see eye-to-eye. This dynamic duo explores topics that we weren’t discussing openly 20 years ago and the debates we’ve been hearing since the beginning of time. This show inspires belly laughs, may ruffle a few feathers, and sparks conversations as profound and affirming as they are entertaining.

Although we've come to the end of the road...(of this first season) we are going out with a bang. Our very first episode Ryan and Sterling gave y'all the real-real about the early (tumultuous) years of their relationship. This episode we let you in on the years when they got their act together, consistently dated, got engaged and then...married! It hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows but Ryan and Sterling have got some thoughts on being married these 18 years that can hopefully add something beautiful to your perspective on love, dating, and true commitment. Hallelujer! In this episode we're talking about the ways our faith and spirituality both inform our work and the ways in which it doesn't. Rev. Michael Beckwith, Founder and Spiritual Director of Agape International Spiritual Center joins Ryan and Sterling to help give context to how to navigate faith/spirituality in the workplace. Does cancel culture actually exist? And if it does, who does it actually exist for? The tea (and opinions) are HOT and STRONG as we drill down into who gets held accountable, who doesn't, and why Sterling hates the dead bird app! See... with the way this racial wealth gap is set up...and the way Ryan and Sterling have disagreed about money over the years, we absolutely had to dedicate an episode to MONEY. In this episode Ryan and Sterling talk about everything from growing beneath the poverty line to how they are still learning how to make smart financial decisions. Their good friend Tanya Van Court joins the show to discuss creating generational wealth and the Goalsetter app, the innovative financial education app she created! To learn more about the Goalsetter app visit: https://goalsetter.co/. Bridgid Coulter Cheadle also stops by to discuss building generational wealth through community at Blackbird House. In this episode, we're taking on one of the most discussed topics in Hollywood (and in hushed tones at Black family gatherings) - body image. What does healthy look like? Who decides? And how can we unlearn the harmful rhetoric around body image we've digested for years? Personal Trainer, Registered Holistic Nutritionist Kelsey Ellis joins us with illuminating insight. Look, peace to Beyonce and the hit single that had us all feel affirmed out here but... the rich and famous don't just wake up like this. There are teams, and work, and lots of money that go into making and branding the constellation of stars we see on our TV screens. On this episode, Ryan and Sterling discuss how the building of celebrity can affect self-esteem and your private life, how their eldest taught them a big lesson about stardom they'll never forget and what success as public figures really means to them. With all the intersections of our identities, how do we gauge when, where, how, and what causes we lend our voices to? Ryan and Sterling have stories for days about what social justice, activism, and speaking out means to them as Black people, public figures, parents, and engaged citizens. Ryan may also have a "See, what had happened was" anecdote about that one time she low-key almost got arrested We Don't Always Agree is an Indian Meadows Production in partnership with ABF Creative. Ok, we're talking psychedelics. Black people: Don't leave, stay with us! In this episode Ryan and Sterling pull back the curtain on their most spiritually insightful (and hilarious) encounters with the medicine, ayahuasca. Not only that, they discuss how their relationship has grown because of engaging with the practice.  We Don't Always Agree is an Indian Meadows Production in partnership with ABF Creative. If you've ever had an identity crisis, needed to reaffirm who you are, or if you are just incredibly proud of being B-L-A-C-K... this episode is for you. We're making sense of who we are (from the lens of racial/cultural identity), the stories we’re told about who we are growing up, and how we reconcile the complexities of identity across the Diaspora as adults. This episode is dedicated to the truth made popular during the Black Freedom Movement of the 60s, "Black IS beautiful." I'm trying to understand Sterling's comment today when he referred to his son throwing down Sterling's jacket and stomping on it "as that was such a Caucasian thing" (not a direct quote). Seems to me a child of any color could do that. I was somewhat offended and a bit disappointed. I would hope Sterling you were above racial generalizations.
