Today Ben and Sarah are joined by the lovely Maria Salamida to chat about worship and the Holy Spirit. Maria is a worship leader and Coordinator of Liturgical Music at Franciscan University of Steubenville. They chat about her growth into being a worship leader as well as what it means to have that role and truly be a tool for the Spirit. It can be so easy to get caught up in making sure that your ministry—whatever form it takes—is “right.” But what does that actually mean and is that truly what the Lord asks of us?
Have you ever heard that tongues are a form of contemplative prayer? Seems counterintuitive, right? But tongues are contemplation because they silence the mind and open your heart to be able to receive the Lord while still pouring out radical praise to Him. This gift can be truly scary for some people and that is so real. But the gift is all about praise and it can teach us a lot about abandonment and trust. If you have questions about the gift or its practical use—and how it fits into the life of the Church—be sure to listen to this episode!
Praying with others

Praying with others

In this episode, Sarah and Ben review the most recent Enflame night and unpack the reality of what it means to pray with someone. All of what we are teaching here at Enflame needs to culminate in action, and prayer is exactly this action. Ben and Sarah reflect on the miracles that the Lord has worked via Enflame. Ministry is hard, y’all, but the Spirit is so present in it all.
We Are Made For Praise

We Are Made For Praise

2022-11-0937:21

We had a praise night at Enflame and it was insane, y'all. The Lord hears our prayer and He shows up, every time. Some takeaways from this episode...1. The community of the Church is diverse and our individual gifts are so necessary.2. First Century Faith means not overcomplicating things—moving where he says and doing it simply because He has asked and He is worthy.3. Faithfulness is all in the response—it begins with a simple "yes."4. Prayer is everything!!
This week's topic is the categories of Words of Wisdom and Words of Knowledge, which fall under the umbrella of prophecy. These reveal the Father's heart, just as prophecy does, but in more specific ways. Listen to hear about this week's Enflame Night and how being receptive to the Spirit and His voice is really the central element to exercising these gifts.
Aaaaaand we’re back! Episodes will now line up with Enflame Nights, serving as supplementary resources for anyone who came in person and is seeking to know more about a particular gift, as well as informative teachings for those of you who are not able to join us in person. Kicking it off with the gift of prophecy, Ben and Sarah sit down and share all about what the gift is, how we use it, and why we use it, all based on the previous day’s in-person Enflame Night!
We’re taking a break! Enflame Nights have started up again in Steubenville and we are beyond excited for this coming year. In an effort to manage our time well and invest more in the local community, We Who Worship will be pausing for a few weeks. When we pick up again, episodes will be aligned with Enflame Nights in a new way. Listen to find out how we are reframing the podcast and why we think this is going to be a game changer.
Ever wondered what exactly Baptism in the Spirit is and why we can participate in this event if we are already Baptized?? Join Ben and Sarah as they lay out some of the behind the scenes of Baptism in the Spirit—what it is, where it comes from, why we need it. For more in-depth information, you can find the publication on Baptism in the Holy Spirit by the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services Doctrinal Commission here: https://www.nsc-chariscenter.org/books/baptism-in-the-holy-spirit-jubilee-edition/
Desire is Key

Desire is Key

If you haven't yet listened to our interview with Dr. Mary Healy, listen to that episode before this one! This week, Ben and Sarah break down some of last week's conversation with Dr. Mary Healy, with a particular focus on the role of desire in our lives and in our relationship with the Spirit. We need to have desire for the things we are working to obtain. Whether that is success in school, sports, work, relationships, or anything else, the root of all our actions must stem from a desire for some good. Do you truly desire the Lord? Do you truly desire for the Spirit to permeate your heart and make a home in you? If you want to grow in relationship with the Holy Spirit, the first step is to desire Him.CCC 27: "The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself."
This week, Ben and Sarah are joined by a very special guest, Dr. Mary Healy,  whose zeal for the Spirit is unmatched. Dr. Healy has been a great inspiration within Enflame, and her co-authored work The Spiritual Gifts Handbook is not only a staple in this ministry, but it has also changed how both Ben and Sarah understand the charismatic gifts. In this episode, Dr. Healy shares about her relationship with the Spirit and her daily life with Him, as well as some compelling advice for growing in relationship with the Spirit. Dr. Mary Healy is an author, speaker, and professor at Sacred Heart Theological Seminary. She serves the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian unity, serves on the Pontifical Biblical Commission, and is a consultor to the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Dr. Healy also works with Encounter Ministries. For more information on Dr. Healy and her work, visit https://www.drmaryhealy.comFind The Spiritual Gifts Handbook here: http://bakerpublishinggroup.com/books/the-spiritual-gifts-handbook/387310
