Description

Welcome to the We are 6th Position podcast! 6th Position is Canberra's leading dance studio for adults aged 16+. Since opening in 2017, we have provided a safe and nurturing environment that welcomes everyBODY to dance. For our adults who are new to dance, 6th Position has provided them with an opportunity they thought had passed them by. For those continuing to dance, our studio has provided a space where they can continue their dance journey on their own terms. And for our adults returning to dance, 6th Position has provided a second chance at a relationship that was never really over. We are 6th Position tells the extraordinary stories of the ordinary adults who make up the 6th Position community.

Starting ballet - or anything new, for that matter - is daunting enough, as it is. For starters, you have to start at the very beginning, a place most of us haven't seen since childhood; there is this thing called 'coordination' you have to grapple with while attempting to do so with 'grace'; and on […]
Welcome to Episode 14 of We are 6th Position! For this episode, we talk to Julia (you may recognise her voice from Episode 13: Making Friends), a senior secondary school teacher who realised she needed to practice the things she was teaching and preaching to her students and team. One day, Julia realised for all […]
Let's be frank: making friends as an adult can be an excruciating social experience. By the time we reach adulthood, most of us have established social circles or are quite comfortable with our own company, thank you very much. Sometimes though, new friendships can be found in unexpected places with the most unexpected people. For […]
In episode 12 of We are 6th Position, we flip the tables: the interviewer get interviewed by the interviewees! 6th Position's Founder and Director, Genevieve (known as Gen, amongst our community), takes a spin in the interviewee chair, where she talks to Ami and Casey about where 6P started, where it is going, and everything […]
