The Brown Girls Guide to Politics Podcast is all about amplifying the voices of women who are too often forgotten in most media coverage. This year was a record year for women of color running for -- and being elected to -- office. In the BGG to Politics blog, A’shanti Gholar created a space for women of color to learn about the current state of women in politics, to support others breaking into the political sphere, and to celebrate incredible people changing the course of the country. Gholar founded the blog last year and Wonder Media Network is thrilled to extend her platform to audio. The Brown Girls Guide is produced by Jenny Kaplan and Andi Kristins, with assistance from Tori Taylor. Original music was composed by Elisheba Ittoop. BLACK WOMEN FOR BLACK LIVES (BW4BL)This group started by 3 accidental activists Korrine Sky, Tokunbo Koiki and Patricia Daley has been amplifying the stories of black students affected by the Ukrainian crisis. They also have a GOFUNDME appeal, which I have donated to. To date the group says it has supported over 1200 black students whose lives have been upended by this crisis.https://gofund.me/e6f68963Also follow them on Twitter for updates:@kokosky@toksyk27Isha Sesay is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA and they deserve to be spotlighted for the incredible work they are doing in Ukraine. A number of maternity hospitals have been bombed by the Russians - the images rightly shocked the world. It is a fact that women and girls face their own specific threats and challenges whenever conflict breaks out. Check out the work that UNFPA is doing on the ground via their website and you can also donate to support their effortshttps://www.unfpa.orgFriends of UNFPAFollow Isha Sesay on Twitter and Instagram.
