A soldier was arrested last month on charges that included lying about his membership in a hate group on his application for a security clearance. But with so many white supremacists in the military, why is it so rare to see this particular charge brought against service members? Molly explores some of the possible reasons the charge isn't used more often and talks about a handful of cases where it's been successful. When someone left a bomb at a Civil War reenactment event in 2017, it looked like antifascist activists were out for revenge after the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. The far right desperately wants to seem like the Voice of the People, but whenever they have their little rallies they are met by thousands of regular people who want nothing to do with them. This podcast is interesting because it shows that something similar is going on with individual far-righters. Their organizations are cult-like, their businesses (when they have any) are mostly scams and their friends and family get tired of their racist conspiracy theories and leave.

Great series, phenomenal episode! I am not sure if I remember Falcon and The Snowman being based on a true story, but I am so thrilled THIS story made this WEIRD connection to one of my favorite spy movies of all time. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a watch and really close to the story told in this epsiode. Only they made margaritas and not Mai Tais. Ha! Molly, from one Virginian to another...thank you for the work you do.
