On this final episode of Wellfed season 4 my guest is New England based artist and illustrator, Chris Delorenzo. Chris if you're listening to this, I'm sorry it took so long. I would describe Chris's work as whimsical, clever and abstract. It is truly an example of letting your mind explore ideas fully and not letting the conventions of life bog you down in the process. His approach to creating work and experience has allowed him to collaborate with brands like Apple, Airbnb, GoDaddy, the New York Times, Target, and many more. Chris is truly a sincere guy and during this episode we discussed life starting off in the creative industry, working for one of his local heroes, mother nature's wifi, and how his work life has changed now since the pandemic. After a few months off I am so proud to share with you final episode of Wellfed season 4 with my guest Chris Delorenzo. On this episode, my guest is D'ana Nunez, aka COVL. D'ana is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Miami, now living in Brooklyn, New York. Multi-disciplinary is a word we use to describe creatives that apply their skills to a number of different mediums and D'ana is truly an example of this. She has created murals, motion graphics, car wraps, interiors, and even capsule collections for brands, such as Nike, Instagram, Spotify, Google, and many more. D'ana has been on my list of guests to interview for a while now so I was ecstatic to finally nail down some time to have her. Emily Elyse Miller, the Founder and CEO of Offlimits Cereal and the author of Breakfast the cookbook published by Phydon. When I first started Wellfed one of the brands I looked to for inspiration was Breakfast Club which was a project started by Emily. She used food as a way to start conversations and connect with new and interesting people and I loved that. Emily has always had a passion for food as well as art and fashion and all three of those have now been combined to launch her cereal brand, OffLimits. I knew I had have Emily as a guest to learn more about her experience and what it takes to launch a brand in a category that has gone stale. Have you ever wondered how to develop your personal style as a creative? On this episode I speak with illustrator Sebastian Curi, who went through years of working different jobs before arriving at his very recognizable illustration style. Sebastian is a super talented individual and I am so glad he could join me as a guest on the podcast. We spoke about how he started off in post production roles before ever getting the opportunity to work on any creative animation projects. We also talked about his experience moving internationally 4 times all while working, why he decided to switch from animation to illustration, and what he hopes to achieve as he continues to grow his career as an independent illustrator. Have you ever had an idea for a project or a series that would maybe help get client work? My guest on this podcast episode did just that! Meet Connor Tomatoes! A young designer that is creating an awesome community on TikTok while also sharing his love for design, illustration, and t-shirts. Yes t-shirts! Connor graduated during COVID and while making an effort to send in job applications, he started to experiment on TikTok, sharing his design process. He eventually created one of my favorite series called, "Designing a T-Shirt for a random business in a random city". Over time Connor's video gained popularity which lead him to not only gaining clients but also opening up his own webstore where he sells some of his work. I am really excited to have Connor as a guest because we break down so much of his process that I think this will be super helpful for young designers and creatives looking to get a head start in their career. Using typography as image is something a lot of designers can appreciate and Chloe Scheffe has done an amazing job exploring that through her work for some big clients. Chloe has recently decided to step out on her as an independent designer working with clients like Nike, Lucky Me Records, Tribeca Films, and more. Prior to this she worked at the New York Times where she fell in love with editorial design which led her to leading the design and art direction for Away's independent magazine, HERE. On this episode we discuss all things type, freelancing, networking, and how to attempt balancing them all.  Become a hero of the podcast and consider supporting us on our Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/wellfed Listen to the episode 3 of season 4 with Puno of ilovecreatives https://apple.co/3xAB7Qs Listen to the episode 2 of season 4 with illustrator and animation director Alex Kiesling https://apple.co/3tYLefh Follow Wellfed on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wellfed.podcast/ If you enjoy this episode please rate, review, and share this podcast. A web designer and digital entrepreneur, Puno is a Digital Educator & Founder of ilovecreatives, a platform connecting and edu-taining creatives living that slashie life. I first encountered Puno through her humorous Squarespace design course advertisements which stood at as a unique approach to the online education space. After doing my research and learning about Puno's diverse background starting as an art director and working her way to leading UX design on Activision's Call of Duty, I couldn't wait to have Puno join me as a guest on the podcast.  Become a hero of the podcast and consider supporting us on our Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/wellfed Listen to the episode 2 of season 4 with illustrator and animation director Alex Kiesling https://apple.co/3tYLefh Listen to the episode 1 of season 4 with Verena Von Pfetten of Gossamer https://apple.co/3tZgVoW Follow Wellfed on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wellfed.podcast/ If you enjoy this episode please rate, review, and share this podcast. Alex Kiesling is an illustrator and animation director currently based in Brooklyn, New York. I don't remember exactly how I came across Alex's profile but I have been following him for some time now and have enjoyed seeing his work pop up in my feed. To kickoff season 4, Alex and I discussed what it was like after graduating from school with only $600 in his bank account. Alex also discusses how even though his first internship was not the most fun, it made a huge impact on his style and process today. Verena Von Pfetten is the co-founder of the lifestyle brand and magazine Gossamer. Before starting the cannabis media brand, Verena had spent years working within the industry dating all the way back as an intern at the global media company, Conde Nast. After experiencing a moment of burn out from seeing multiple companies fold, Verena decided to take her experience and start her own media brand. As Gossamer continues to expand it develops new and exciting ways to form a meaningful relationship with it's readers which Verena knows is absolutely vital in today's market. Noemie Le Coz and Jeremy Elliot are the founders and designers of the new Brooklyn based design studio Little Troop. To close out season 3 of the podcast, Noemie and Jeremy welcomed me into their apartment where we chatted about their big move to New York, how they swooned every design studio to land their first jobs, and everything that led to them forming their studio Little Troop. While they are not only partners in their professional careers, Noemie and Jeremy also discuss how laying down some ground rules has strengthened their ability to collaborate as they continue to create amazing work for their clients. Barbie Bertisch & Paul Raffaele are the designers, DJs, and founders of the New York City based dance music fanzine Love Injection. Although every episode I make for this podcast is special because I get to meet some of my creative heroes, this episode has a special place in my heart. Not only was Paul someone I learned a lot from while I was an intern but Paul and Barbie were part of the reason why I started this podcast in the first place. To watch how they were able to create Love Injection and continue to grow the community in the New York area is something that I truly admire. I am so happy to have them as guests for this season and can't wait to see what they come up with next for Love Injection. Aaron Barksdale is a writer, producer, and previously a teacher in Brooklyn, New York. Aaron and I met while working at Vice where he was doing something totally different than what he is doing now for his full-time job. While working together I would come to learn that Aaron is not afraid to challenge himself and take on new opportunities. Aaron was a previously a teacher before deciding to enter the media industry as a writer. He wrote for companies like Refinery29, HuffPost, Blavity and more before making his way to Vice Media Group. While at Vice he has been able to expand his skillset as a writer and also a producer working on a variety of video series for the company. Aaron's willingness to learn and humble attitude is something I admire and I am so glad to have him as a guest for this season of the podcast. Kevin Lyons is a creative director, illustrator, and artist known for his brilliant creativity and his infamous monsters that you may have seen on your favorite popsicle packaging at your local supermarket. Having Kevin join me as a guest was and has been an absolute highlight for the podcast and for me personally. Aundre Larrow is a freelance photographer and creative currently based in Brooklyn, New York. I first learned about Aundre's work when I interview Jeremy Perez-Cruz for the podcast. I immediately fell in love with Aundre's photograph and knew I had to hear his story. His work captures the raw emotion and joy of everyday people. Aundre was also a participant in the Adobe Creative Residency where he spent an entire working and honing his skills as a photographer. Louisa Cannell is a freelance illustrator working and living in Brooklyn. This episode was very special for me because I when I met Louisa she was in a completely different role from what she is doing now. Louisa and I both worked at Viceland and at the time Louisa was a coordination assistant. At that time she had only done a few illustrations here and there from previous internships and also outside of work. Louisa decided to one day apply for an internship at Refinery29, leaving her full-time job. Since then she has been able to work with a ton of different brands. I am super excited to release this episode and I hope you enjoy it! Gabby Lord is currently a senior designer at the branding and design agency Character. She is also the creator of OMGLord which is a curated directory and newsletter of handy creative resources. On this episode my conversation with Gabby started out in her hometown of Tamworth, Australia where she grew up and eventually made the move Sydney for university. After graduating, Gabby moved to Berlin where she was able to not only learn so much about her passion for design but also about herself. After spending a few years abroad Gabby made the move to the big apple where she currently resides and works as a senior design at Character.
