Chelsea, Sophie and Kaitlin discuss the impacts of education, or lack thereof, on diet and exercise from adolescence throughout school years and how this can impact adulthood. They go into how there are not always proper resources available and in younger years one doesn’t always have the power to choose what they may want or need at a grocery store. This is a tough but very good topic Chelsea, Sophie and Kaitlin could talk about forever! Sophie discusses recommendations around exercise and what is age appropriate. Food for thought → What education could be added to school systems around this topic? What were your younger years like around food and exercise?

Chelsea and Sophie go into the difference between a Registered Dietitian (RD) and nutritionist. The main difference between an RD and nutritionist is that there’s no standard/guideline for the definition of a nutritionist, while an RD has to go on to graduate school and or a dietetic internship along with passing an exam and in some states getting a license. There are so many different types of dietitians and you do not always need a reason to see one! Moral of the story - be mindful who you listen to and get information from. Listen for more!
Wellness White Lies

Wellness White Lies

2023-04-1916:41

Chelsea and Sophie discuss the topic of people not always being truthful… Being honest with your healthcare providers and beyond (hair stylists) only helps you. We cannot help you fully if you’re not fully telling the truth on your end. Being fully transparent is important and helpful - we do not judge you, we are human and we have heard it all! Food for thought→ Try to remember the more you tell - the more help you’re going to be able to get. Think about the past and an instance you maybe weren’t fully honest and why weren’t you?
BMI vs. Body Fat

BMI vs. Body Fat

2023-04-0337:27

Chelsea and Sophie discuss the history and differences between BMI and Body Fat. In short- BMI was not created for clinical use and gives you zero information on your body composition, whereas taking one's body fat does, but one needs specific tools and it is not timely in the medical setting. Sophie also dives into different ways of measuring body fat percentage. Food for Thought→ No food for thought today - we had to go… haha. But actually this is your reminder that the BMI your doctor may tell you isn’t the law of your body. Figuring out your body composition is more informative of your body.
In this episode Chelsea and Sophie discuss conflicting goals. They get into specifics with some of their own comflicting goals in the past and ones they’ve seen with clients. With wanting to achieve any goal you’ll have to reflect on what ‘consequences’ - life changes you may or may not be willing to make! How far will you go to achieve a goal?Food for thought --> If you have multiple goals - are they conflicting? Do those goals conflict with your lifestyle? If they do - is that lifestyle change in or out of your control?
Chelsea and Sophie discuss the deeper meaning of one’s why. They dive into your why not being your goal but the why behind your goal… When you know your why things play out a little differently!Food for Thought→ Do you know your why? Are you living out your why? If not, what needs to change? Pick one thing.
Chelsea and Sophie discuss their podcast and what it’s about! They introduce themselves again as a registered dietitian and certified personal trainer and review what they are all about! Chelsea and Sophie go over what they mean by Wellness Why, their why’s, what they help their clients with and some of their favorite podcasts from last year! Their main goal is to help educate and encourage you on your wellness journey!
Chelsea and Sophie discuss burnout, self care and boundaries! They dive deeper on how each of these can look differently for every individual. A lot of these things in life are connected. Experiment!!! Food for Thought→ What are your forms of self care? Do you need to add more? What boundaries do you need in place to help prevent burnout? Do you know your limit before burnout?
Seasons for a Reason

Seasons for a Reason

2022-12-1934:19

Chelsea and Sophie discuss the flow of life with the flow of seasons! In this episode, they talk about how it’s okay to allow your goals to change throughout the year as the seasons also change. Seasons or quarters allow a good self check in time to see how things are going and any habits you may want to add in/take out. Food for thought → Maybe start to re-evaluate your goals quarterly instead of yearly - Thinking of things you’d like to add in or take out as you go with the flow of the season a bit more! Or do you not think it’s okay to change your goals throughout the year and why?
