Description
Welcome to What’s Eating Erica Jacobs—a podcast about the questions that keep us up at night and the answers we never knew to ask. Each season, we take on one big question and spend 10 episodes poking at it from every possible angle—through personal stories, deep conversations, and a little bit of wrestling with the unknown (and sometimes, our own terrible decisions).
This season, we’re exploring the power of staying and leaving—what it means to hold on, let go, and occasionally ghost a situation entirely. From walking away from relationships, careers, and belief systems to realizing that sometimes we are the ones being left (ouch), every episode asks: What would staying have meant? What does leaving make possible?
Join me, Erica Jacobs, as we navigate these pivotal moments—through raw solo reflections, intimate guest interviews, and plenty of “oh wow, didn’t expect to cry today” insights. New episodes drop weekly (or biweekly, depending on my life choices).
Subscribe, share, and let’s figure this out together.

On January 6th of this year, I rang in my 34th birthday by gathering some friends over zoom who were more than willing to take turns reading the apology I deserve from my mother but will never receive. As I was putting an end to the normalization of abuse and lack of accountability in my own relationships, our country was witnessing the repercussions of that normalization. I pray that as I continue re-sensitizing myself to what is wrong, cruel and in violation of humanity, that I am able to take right action as I’m doing in my own life. Thank you Marissa, Lexi, Emily, Laura, Lindsey, Charlotte and everyone who listens to this recording, for seeing me through the end of a devastating and harmful 33-year relationship with my mother and the beginning of a profoundly freeing and loving relationship with myself.
I re-wrote a eulogy for my Dad...fourteen years later. Because eulogies are living, breathing documents, and because my first one was a total sham,
