Devoid of the tedium of critically acclaimed podcasts, these brave souls embarked on a holy mission, to bring the light-hearted attitude of discussing movies with friends to the podcasting scene. However, due to unforeseen budget cuts two of their number were lost to the void of the internet. Doomed for eternity to find nothing but cat videos and food challenges. The remaining heroes, JJ and Mattson searched far and wide for a suitable replacement but in the end settled for Alec. These two and a half heroes continue in their mission to bring an enjoyable conversation about movies and tv shows directly to you, our viewers. 2025-11-2431:16

The primary focus of our discourse today centers upon the cinematic artifact known as "Bloodsport," a film released on April 29, 1988, which has garnered a reputation as a profoundly unintentionally humorous piece of entertainment. We delve into the absurdities inherent in the narrative, wherein Frank Dukes, portrayed by Jean Claude Van Damme, embarks on a perilous journey to engage in a martial arts tournament characterized by potentially lethal confrontations. Throughout our examination, we reflect upon the film's disjointed choreography and the peculiarities of its character portrayals, particularly the laughable antics of its antagonist, Chong Lee. The juxtaposition of the film's grave thematic aspirations with its ludicrous execution cultivates a viewing experience that elicits laughter rather than the intended gravitas. Ultimately, we achieve a consensus on the film's shortcomings, assigning it a dismal score of 0.5, indicative of its failings, yet acknowledging the inadvertent entertainment it provides.Support us:https://www.patreon.com/whatsourverdictEmail us: hosts@whatsourverdict.comFollow us:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/whatsourverdictTwitter: @whatsourverdictInstagram: @whatsourverdictYouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UC-K_E-ofs3b85BnoU4R6liAVisit us:www.whatsourverdict.com
This podcast episode delves into the cinematic missteps of "Jupiter Ascending," a film that exemplifies the phenomenon of unintended humor despite its earnest intentions. We assert that the film, laden with ambitious concepts and a star-studded cast, ultimately succumbs to a plethora of narrative and casting misjudgments that render it both perplexing and unintentionally amusing. The discussion navigates the film's failings, particularly its convoluted plot and the peculiar performances that result in moments of levity rather than the intended gravitas. We analyze how the Wachowskis' world-building prowess is overshadowed by awkward character portrayals, particularly Channing Tatum's role, which fails to resonate with audiences. Through a thorough examination of these elements, we engage in a reflective discourse on the film's potential and the myriad ways it could have been executed more effectively.Support us:https://www.patreon.com/whatsourverdictEmail us: hosts@whatsourverdict.comFollow us:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/whatsourverdictTwitter: @whatsourverdictInstagram: @whatsourverdictYouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UC-K_E-ofs3b85BnoU4R6liAVisit us:www.whatsourverdict.com
The central theme of this podcast episode revolves around the cinematic exploration of the film "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," a motion picture released in 1991 that has garnered a significant amount of both admiration and criticism over the years. We delve into the juxtaposition of the film's intended dramatic narrative against the unintentional comedic elements that have emerged, particularly through the performance of Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham, whose portrayal has become a focal point of enjoyment amidst the film's shortcomings. The discourse further examines the peculiarities of Kevin Costner's performance, his lack of an English accent, and how these aspects contribute to the overall reception of the film. Additionally, we contemplate the film's historical context, character dynamics, and the nostalgic value it holds for audiences, despite its apparent flaws. Ultimately, we arrive at a consensus that, while the film may not align with conventional standards of cinematic excellence, it remains a source of entertainment and laughter, particularly when viewed through the lens of its unintended humor.Support us:https://www.patreon.com/whatsourverdictEmail us: hosts@whatsourverdict.comFollow us:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/whatsourverdictTwitter: @whatsourverdictInstagram: @whatsourverdictYouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UC-K_E-ofs3b85BnoU4R6liAVisit us:www.whatsourverdict.com

Waterworld (1995)

2025-11-0335:22

The primary focus of our discourse delves into the cinematic creation known as "Waterworld," a film that, despite its ambitious narrative premise of an aquatic apocalypse, ultimately falters under the weight of its own execution. Within this discussion, I express a profound incredulity regarding the persistent notion that this film possesses any inherent merit, given its status as one of the most notorious cinematic failures in history. Alec and JJ examine the film's myriad shortcomings, including its lack of coherent storytelling and the overly simplistic character development that renders the protagonist unengaging. Furthermore, we scrutinize the film's effort to convey a message about ecological catastrophe, which is undermined by its inconsistent portrayal of the world and its inhabitants. Ultimately, our analysis reveals a consensus that, while the film could benefit from a contemporary reimagining, it remains an exercise in absurdity that elicits laughter for all the wrong reasons.Support us:https://www.patreon.com/whatsourverdictEmail us: hosts@whatsourverdict.comFollow us:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/whatsourverdictTwitter: @whatsourverdictInstagram: @whatsourverdictYouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UC-K_E-ofs3b85BnoU4R6liAVisit us:www.whatsourverdict.com
