Description

Great shows and movies - even not so great ones - have inspired friendships, emotions, life quests globally, so why not sing their praises, whilst also picking out their shortcomings? What might seem insignificant to one person might mean everything to another which is why they keep coming back for more. Seriously, they've seen Bridget Jones at least 150 times.
So, why wait? Join Bailey and Sarah as they dissect the cultural icons of the television and movie world.

So, the correct way to write it is: a-cappella before any of you music nerds attack us. This week we review Pitch Perfect, the 2012 movie starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Elizabeth Banks. It's got it all, if 'all' means many octaves, vomit and "sexy man splits." It's a treat for the eyes and the ears, this film, and although some lines - particular from Fat Amy - verge on the offensive, it's still a fabulous watch. Join us in a listen if you want to hear us talk over one another and laugh loudly at our own jokes.Don't forget to review us, like us, subscribe to us.While you're at it, follow us and email us. It's been a minute. But, we're back and better than ever, people! We couldn't resist reviewing one of our all time faves, Matilda, and we know we say that in every episode of this podcast, but what can we say! We're movie fanatics, or just really sad, troubled young women. Entering the world of Roald Dahl this week, we marvel at the multi-layered power of Matilda. We glorify Miss Trunchbull, Sarah (and Sarah only) picks apart Miss Honey and we're in awe of the Wormwoods. And we have a whale of a time doing it. DeVito directs, narrates and stars in this movie which does just make us want to say, "you're doing too much, sweetie." But his talent and his clear eye for direction and storytelling are exemplified in this film's ability to stand the test of time. This absolute classic of a movie has been heralded across the globe as a trailblazer in cultural representation on the silver screen. People even study it in schools (lucky b*stards).Directed by Gurinder Chadha, it's more than just a movie about sport. It details the journeys of two young women, attempting to manage their family expectations around culture and gender. They’re also obsessed with David Beckham and football. Though Sarah and Bailey have no idea about the nuances of football, they do know a lot about getting into the nitty-gritty of this movie. Things like: is it possible to say Jonathan, without the need for his middle and last name? Rhys Meyers. No. No it isn't.We hope you enjoy this movie as much as we do. Now, you can join us as we discuss many things, some relating to the film, and others, not so much. It's a journey for all.Don't forget to rate us (wherever you listen to your podcasts). It helps us show up for others. You can't just keep us to yourself, that's like totally intense and possessive.Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
Now, you might all be thinking, "a kid's film? Have they gone mad?" And the answer of course is, yes. We have gone mad. But we've been mad for a while. Shrek is presented to us under the guise of a children's movie but really, it's much much more. It's nuanced. It's edgy. It's bloody hilarious. This week, Bailey and Sarah discuss Shrek 1 & 2's reign as the ultimate: film for everyone. Have a listen, and have a watch. It really is THAT good. Oh and don't forget to rate us (wherever you listen to your podcasts). It helps us show up for others. Well, well. Here we are. The end of a rather bizarre yet fabulous year. And, to top it off, here's our Christmas Special! It wouldn't be Christmas without Love Actually. A long-time favourite. It's something many of us watch - without fail - each December. And for good reason. There's joy, there's sadness, there's humour. But most importantly, there's lust. So much lust in fact, that we would like to petition to change the film to Lust Actually. We hope you like this one - we got rather pissed doing it, so we hope you have as much fun as we did recording it. We also hope that you can understand our drunk babbling. See you next year, sweetie darlings. Don't forget to rate us (wherever you listen to your podcasts). It helps us show up for others. Okay, okay. I know we say that every film we review is our favourite, but this HAS to be it. We're so obsessed with everything about it: the acting, the jokes, the clothes, the soundtrack, the plot...what else is in a film, hmmm, oh yeah, the scripts and the location?! Honestly, Bailey can only flaw one line which she lets you know about. Listen along if you're also obsessed with this film, but be warned, this is basically us just laughing like hyenas at our favourite quotes and basically giving a play by play of the entire movie. Don't forget to rate us (wherever you listen to your podcasts). It helps us show up for others. You can't just keep us to yourself, that's like totally intense and possessive.Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
WARNING: Discussion of masturbation in the last section of the podcast. If you're a prude, give this one a miss. Unless you're a raving Friends fan, then unfortunately, you'll have to suffer through it. Guys, we did it. We watched Friends in its entirety and we didn't rip our hair out. Don't get us wrong, this is one of our favourite shows but...there are just so...many...episodes. The last two seasons left us a bit miffed in some parts but as always, it came through with the goods. We cried, we laughed, we purred like cats. We have a lot to thank this great show for and we will always come back to it when we're seeking comfort. Don't forget to rate us (wherever you listen to your podcasts). It helps us show up for others. You can't just keep us to yourself, that's like totally intense and possessive. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
We won't lie to you. There are a LOT of episodes of one of our favourite tv shows. And, we managed to combine three seasons into this massive rant. Do you have the energy? Do WE have the energy? Let's find out. Join us, Sarah and Bailey, as we discuss the Ross and Rachel dilemma (when will it end?), whether a few episodes are just pure fodder and what our favourite cameos are. We have fun. We hope you do, too. Remember to follow us on Instagram below and TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS. Or else. And rate us, for the love of Joey. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
Sarah and Bailey are back, baby. They've grown older by a month and a bit; in fact, they're so much older, that they're using the term 'holibobs' un-ironically now.As we continue our journey into dissecting our favourite tv shows and movies, we tackle Season 4 and Season 5 of Friends - a mammoth tv show that will always hold a place in our hearts. Question: do we all hate Emily as a character? Let us know.We spend about 2/3 of this episode discussing the wedding scene in S4, so if you can handle that, and our incessant giggles, then, truly, you can handle anything. Remember to follow us on Instagram below and TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS. Or else. Oh - and can somebody please tell Sarah to learn what our F***ING email and Instagram account is called? And rate us, for the love of Chandler. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
This week's episode is all about semantics. Were they on a break, and is that a viable excuse? Ross seems to think so, but what do we think? Well, listen to this episode and you'll find out. Season 3 of Friends has some absolute charming episodes but it features one of the greatest romantic conflicts we've ever seen in television history - Ross & Rachel break up. Join us as we break down who was in the wrong.
You've missed us? Phew. We left you on read for a while there but we're back dissecting one of the most popular sitcoms to ever leave America. We discuss Friends S1 and S2 - it's a real favourite of ours and about 75% of the world's population, though it's not without its flaws. It features friendships (duh), work struggles, romance and life in New York city all while delivering witty quips, stylish haircuts and enviable apartments. Join us in our first episode of our Friends-dissection and let us know what you think about the first two series. Remember to follow us on Instagram below and TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS. Or else. And rate us, for the love of Chandler. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
WHAT. A. FILM. Our rewatching of this absolute corker of a movie revealed that everything in this life is gender-charged. Go figure. We break down the glory of Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci; the entitlement of Andy thinking she can go from the college newspaper straight to The New Yorker and everything that's wrong with men in this world, especially Nate. This is a movie that we will always gravitate towards for its style, its humour and the incredible acting. It's also oh-so-quotable. Join us as we dissect YET another cultural classique.Follow us on Instagram below and TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS. Or else. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
Finally, we're back. We know you missed us but this rude thing called LIFE got in the way. Join us as we praise the cultural classic, Step Brothers, starring two of our favourites, Will Ferrell and John C(omedy) Reilly. It's a tale as old as time, brothers who don't mature quick enough or want to leave the nest. It's so relatable that Sarah and Bailey experienced something not dissimilar from the entire premise of this film - thankfully, their brothers grew out of it. Follow us on Instagram below and TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS. Or else. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
Oh, School of Rock. What an absolute classic.Sarah & Bailey take a shallow dive into the music and talent of School of Rock, but mainly they drink and discuss their own desires to be on the stage. Jack Black's rhythm is something else, and the music is too good. It's a film that's close to many people's hearts and it's pretty timeless. Technical issues - is Bailey's mic too loud? Who knows. This whole editing process is quite tricky so please do follow us and provide encouragement. Follow us on Instagram below and TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS. Or else. We discuss Absolutely Fabulous this week - a television show that inspires friendships and the vocabulary of today.Starring Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, it's a show that satirises PR girls of the 90s, materialism and celebrity. The comedic timing and acting are so delicious, and despite the satire, we all still want to be Patsy and Eddie in many ways.Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoaWith each glass of red wine poured, some words might not sound English and there's a LOT of talking over one another. But, if you can handle that, you can handle anything.
This week, Sarah and Bailey discuss Mean Girls - one of the most iconic movies which has stood the test of time.Written by Tina Fey, it contains so many zingers which are used in everyday speech by even the unlikeliest of viewers. We discuss the power of cliques, Rachel McAdams' versatility, the fact that Aaron Samuels really likes cakes and the correct pronunciation of 'Lohan.'Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoaSoft boy Instagram account as mentioned by Sarah: https://www.instagram.com/beam_me_up_softboi/?hl=en
This week, Sarah and Bailey discuss Trainwreck - Amy Schumer's movie as directed by Judd Apatow. We discuss how useful Dianna's (Tilda Swinton) comments are in everyday situations; Matthew Broderick appearing for a millisecond for no real reason; LeBron James being a seriously great comic actor and whether we would shag Bill Hader. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
This week, Sarah and Bailey discuss their viewpoints on the iconic television show, Sex and the City.Although one of us is pretty new to the cult of SATC, there is still a lot to say about female representation; which men we would shag; if height difference is relevant and whether all that Carrie and Mr Big have in common is the fact they like nice things. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa*Bailey says 'Miranda' in the final minutes when discussing a quote when really she means 'Samantha' - please don't send abuse for the error, she was 4 beers in.**Podcast that Bailey mentions about the in-depth analysis of Sex and the City is: Origins -Sex and the City https://www.originsthepodcast.com/ch5-satc***Other amazing podcast on Sex and the City is: Sentimental in the City https://play.acast.com/s/sentimentalgarbage/introducing-sentimentalinthecity-withdollyalderton
We're back to discuss how much we love About a Boy - we love it so much that we have never read the novel that it's based off, but we invented our own dark, twisted story for you all to hear.We ponder our favourite version of Hugh Grant, our adoration of Toni Collette and wonder what is up with Marcus's eyebrows. As the podcast grows, Sarah and Bailey get too comfortable in front of the microphone and reveal the inner darkness of their minds. But, if you can move past all of that, then we hope you will join us as we praise the culturally iconic movie, About a Boy. Email: whatsthatoffagain@gmail.comInstagram: um_wtoa
An absolute classic of a movie - one which many people return to again and again. We discuss how the representation of women in this film makes it quite unique - we laugh, we cry, we think back to times when we, too, have had diarrhoea. We analyse the bits we find hilarious, and the bits which other people have failed to notice (are Lillian and Annie actually that good of friends, and IS DOUG OKAY?)You don't need to be a movie fanatic to know a few quotes from this film - its cultural impact is global, and it will be in our hearts forever.
