What's The Recipe? was a beautiful concept that Lucas & I had the best time recording for you guys. However, this was never meant to be Amanda's podcast on her own and so she's doing things her own (original) way. Amanda will be continuing podcasting at Just Mands The Podcast — which you can find on all podcast platforms. There, she'll talk candidly and honestly about the complexities of motherhood, womanhood, career, and self growth. Sort of like an extension of her Instagram with the occasional guest for unfiltered conversations. And you better believe Lucas will hop on an episode here and there, too. Thank you all so so SO much for listening and supporting us on this journey. We're so grateful for all of you. Today's episode is short and sweet, how the fuck do we define success? With our podcast, we want to bring you guys conversations from successful people to talk about the recipe to their success. And one of the main reasons we wanted to do this is because we don't believe that there's one singular recipe to success. There's also not one singular definition of success. It can look and feel and be different for everyone. So how do we define success? We'll see you in the kitchen to find out. In this week's episode, Amanda & Lucas are sitting down after a rough month of colds, travel, & the most chaotic schedules ever. This is why podcasting is good for your marriage — it forces you to sit down and communicate uninterrupted for an hour. Anyway, we chat about Lucas' culinary school journey, what he's been learning, & what he's looking forward to with it. We also serve up some answers to your dish it out's: how do I navigate arguments around money? How did you guys meet and know that each other were the one? What to do if I'm growing apart from my boyfriend, but want to maintain our bond? Did you guys want kids before you had them unexpectedly? You asked, we answered. If you're a consistent listener, you probably know who Anna is. She was on episode 8 of the podcast and is the founder & owner of Hooch Booch — a hard kombucha company making better for you beverages. In this episode, we kicked Lucas off the podcast for a GIRL DINNER. Really, he had to travel for work and couldn't record, so I called my girl Anna up and this was SUCH A FUN EPISODE. Lucas & I have so many fun ideas up our sleeve and visions for what we want out of this podcast, and Anna and I tested one of our ideas out in this episode. Today, we're sitting down for a meal together — chatting about success in business, what it means to be a woman in business, dating in the workplace, what success actually means, how Anna met her boyfriend, and spilling some girlie pop tea. In 2020 lucas and I signed a lease to a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment in a little neighborhood in denver called lowry. it was covered in windows and overlooked a courtyard and was the place we brought our first baby home to. 5 months into us being there lucas quit his serving job and embarked on his job of selling medical software… from home. his desktop computer and keybord was on our dining table, which was also basically our kitchen, which was also our living room. I remember lennox and I talking lots of walks or going into our bedroom so that we didn’t interrupt lucas on his calls. needless to say, we quickly realzied that we needed a bigger place and that we really wanted to buy a house. insert halley zadeyan. we hopped on a zoom call with her and another one of her team members and instantly connected. and that zoom call started our 6 month long relationship with halley as our realtor. this was at the height of the housing market craze. We were so excited and hopeful to find the perfect starter home that was in a decent neighborhood, generally clean and updated, and with a yard that we could play in. by the time we hit month 2 of searching, we realized that we were buying during the most insane time. i wish i could show you guys what zillow looked like back then. I mean a 900 sq ft 2 bedroom shithole built in 1920 was going for $500,000 it was looking bleek. But thank god we had halley because she always came through with optimism and trust and resources and homes that were more our speed. finally, in the summer of 2021 we stumbled upon our home. 4 beds, newly renovated, huge backyard. and on move in day, we arrived to our new house to find a cute little doormat already placed outside our front door and a brand new set of carraway pots and pans. Halley truly was the most amazing person to work with. She is in the top 1% of denver realtors, did 9 million dollars in production her first 6 months as an agent, and has a confidence and knowledge that is unmatched. She is also a mama to an almost one year old daughter and in this episode, we’re giving you the tea on what it actually takes to be a top producing real estate agent, tips for aspiring home owners and current home owners who want to make smart but bold choices about their home, and how to get into investment properties. Something fun about halley is that she was also a private chef in LA for major celebrities before getting into real estate, so you bet your ass that we go there in this episode. If you like this episode, please give it a rating and review on apple or spotify, and if youre watching on youtube, hit the subscribe button or leave a comment. if you’re in the denver area and want to work with or connect with halley, her info is in the shownotes below. This week, we got the pleasure to sit down with who we believe to be a country music legend — Mr. Colt Ford. Let me give you some context into how this interview transpired —it’s summer of 2016. Lucas and I are 18 years old about to head off to college and my parents invite us to the daytona 500 country fest. Now, my dad is a professional golfer and what you’ll learn more about in this episode, is that Colt Ford actually was too. So him and my dad go way back all the way to junior golf together. And in 2016 after the country fest, Colt invited us all back to his tour bus and we chatted and drank like twisted teas or something super high school like that. So when we found out Colt was in town for a show at Grizzly Rose, 1) we knew we had to go see him and 2) that we had to get him on the podcast. Now I don’t care if you’re a fan of country music or not, this episode is so much more than that. Colt Ford is such a dynamic human being, from being a songwriter behind major songs like Dirt Road Anthem, Country Must Be Country Wide, Back, & Mind On You. To being a badass performer. To trailblazing the country rap genre. To just being an incredibly kind, real, funny, creative, and honest person. This was one of my favorite interviews we’ve ever done. You’re going to learn about how he left the golf world in his thirties and became a country music artist, his song writing process, how he came up with the name “Colt Ford,” & hear behind the scenes stories of working with legends like Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, Jermain Dupri, and Kevin Gates. You do NOT want to miss this epsiode. So with that, we’ll see you in the kitchen.
