A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comCole Evans is one of the most prolific media strategists I’ve ever known. He and I met working at a Nashville Radio group around 2007. It’s fair to say that Cole was the one who reintroduced me to long form audio production with his podcast “Brand Forward” in 2016.Our conversation revolved around the evolving nature of marketing and advertising strategies in the digital age. We discussed the importance of staying prolific, adapting to changes in the media landscape, and measuring the effectiveness of media campaigns. Cole shares insights on various marketing strategies for small business growth, including understanding the target audience and building relationships. Finally, we touched on the use of AI-based tools for keyword analysis, content creation, and distribution to streamline podcast production and maximize its reach.Follow Cole:https://www.linkedin.com/in/colegevans/__________________________________________________________________________________________________****SUBSCRIBE/RATE/FOLLOW the Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast:www.mmtbp.comwww.instagram.com/mostlymiddletnbusinespodcastwww.instagram.com/jimmccarthyvosTiktok: @jimmccarthyvos       __________________________________________________________Shoutout to Matt Wilson for lending his voice to the new intro of MMTBP.Follow him and his podcast from which I may have borrowed the *mostly* concept:https://linktr.ee/mamwmw___________________________________________________________****You hear Jim mention it on almost every episode, ME vs. WE and how 2023 will be 1943 all over again….order “PENDULUM:How Past Generations Shape Our Present and Predict Our Future”:https://a.co/d/7oKK7Ip__________________________________________________________________________The co-author of Pendulum wrote a myriad of other books and started a non-profit 21st Century Non-Traditional Business School that you should really check out: Wizard Academy -  www.wizardacademy.org__________________________________________________________________________Talking about the real problems (and possible solutions) of everyday business owners and professionals in and around Middle Tennessee and beyond...this is the What’s Your Problem Podcast!Curious about podcasting? A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.com Entrepreneurs are risk takers. More so than much of the world population. When Jim Morris committed to launch a conference that was to be different than all the other conferences that have sprouted up over the last decade, his optimism could break the bonds of earthly gravity. He quickly learned that it would be one of the most difficult challenges he would ever face. It was a Herculean task. It was devastating. It was the most humbling experience in his life. And he needed it. In this episode, Jim gets REAL.Follow Jim:https://therealjimmorris.com/__________________________________________________________________________________________________****SUBSCRIBE/RATE/FOLLOW the Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast:www.mmtbp.comwww.instagram.com/mostlymiddletnbusinespodcastwww.instagram.com/jimmccarthyvosTiktok: @jimmccarthyvos       __________________________________________________________Shoutout to Matt Wilson for lending his voice to the new intro of MMTBP.Follow him and his podcast from which I may have borrowed the *mostly* concept:https://linktr.ee/mamwmw___________________________________________________________****You hear Jim mention it on almost every episode, ME vs. A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comI met Shane Ray in 2017 through a local coaching program. We hit it off immediately and have been friends ever since! He’s replaced some of my AC units and maintained others. He has one of the most franchise-able brands I have ever seen and he’s finding his way to that eventuality. From Shane:“Hi, I’m Shane Ray, owner and founder of Aloha Air Conditioning. I grew up in the HVAC industry. I wanted to start and operate a company that would make customers say, "Wow!" My team and I maintain a culture of respect and generosity. Our philosophy involves treating customers and employees like family. We back up our promises with action and written guarantees.I grew up in the area, and when I wasn't engaged in my unique hobby of reading, I spent time with my family learning about the HVAC industry. After graduating from high school in 1991, I started working for my family's HVAC business. Having served more than 25,000 customers, I've experienced every possible situation in a home. My family eventually sold that business, and I chose to continue to stay in the industry and provide my community with the products and services they need for indoor comfort."Follow Shane: https://facebook.com/shane.ray.33https://www.facebook.com/JustCallAlohawww.instagram.com/justcallaloha__________________________________________________________________________________________________****SUBSCRIBE/RATE/FOLLOW the Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast:www.mmtbp.comwww.instagram.com/mostlymiddletnbusinespodcastwww.instagram.com/jimmccarthyvosTiktok: @jimmccarthyvos       __________________________________________________________Shoutout to Matt Wilson for lending his voice to the new intro of MMTBP.Follow him and his podcast from which I may have borrowed the *mostly* concept:https://linktr.ee/mamwmw___________________________________________________________****You hear Jim mention it on almost every episode, ME vs. Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comWhen we left Connecticut in 2001, we left the ability to get great New York-style pizza on a moment’s notice, from almost any pizza place. In Las Vegas, it took us 3 years to find a place that came close, but still too far.In the Middle Tennessee area, we had better luck. My friend John Tumminello introduced me to Joey’s House of Pizza, which was in Brentwood at the time.Upon entering the restaurant, the sights, smells and thick New York accents brought me back to those days when we lived in the Northeast….the days when we took getting good pizza very much for granted.   I have been a champion of the Macca family ever since. When they opened a Joey’s House of Pizza in Spring Hill, you probably could have heard the celebration of joy coming from my house from several hundred yards away.  Joey’s eventually moved to Elm Hill Pike, and then, much to just about the entire community’s chagrin, closed with no prior notice. The Spring Hill store is still open but has also moved and changed their name to Nelly’s, which is operated by Joey and Crescenza Macca’s daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Ryan.   The Macca’s aren’t done. They’ve opened Macca Villa at Riverside in Murfreesboro, where you can still get your Joey’s House of Pizza fix as well as a beautiful property to have a wedding, celebrate an anniversary or have a really bodacious birthday blowout! “Ciao, y’all!” - Perfectly said, from a Brooklyn born, deeply Italian family who planted roots in our backyard back in the 80s.Follow The Maccas on their next chapter: https://www.maccavilla.com/https://www.facebook.com/themaccavillavenue__________________________________________________________________________________________________****SUBSCRIBE/RATE/FOLLOW the Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast:www.mmtbp.comwww.instagram.com/mostlymiddletnbusinespodcastwww.instagram.com/jimmccarthyvosTiktok: @jimmccarthyvos       __________________________________________________________Shoutout to Matt Wilson for lending his voice to the new intro of MMTBP.Follow him and his podcast from which I may have borrowed the *mostly* concept:https://linktr.ee/mamwmw___________________________________________________________****You hear Jim mention it on almost every episode, ME vs. She saw the immediate connection Steve and I had in the creative space. our conversation revolved around the challenges of finding reliable freelancers on platforms like Fiverr, the importance of networking and relationship building in business, and the evolution of the creative industry. We discussed the value of personal connections in the broadcasting and content creation fields, and the need for onboarding and developing young talent. Collaborating with skilled freelancers and the importance of building a strong foundation through basic strategies is also a strength. I met John Mediana at Jim Morris’ Impact Effect 23 in October 2023. He and I had an instant connection upon discovering that we both lived and worked in Las Vegas once upon a time, prior to moving to Middle Tennessee. John has produced some impressive content for a myriad of equally impressive clients over his years in video production. He’s found a powerful niche within personal branding for executives in and around Nashville. About John:“Since the fifth  grade, I had a desire to create; I developed a passion for photography and the filmmaking process. I couldn’t wait for TBS’ dinner & a movie just to watch the behind the scenes and hear the director discuss the film. I never knew the relationship between the two. When I realized the connection between  photography and filmmaking, I began to wonder how my still photos would translate into motion picture form. I was shaped by the skateboard & hip hop culture growing up, and then started writing songs and playing in garage bands. At that moment, I started making things and discovering and exploring more. I started designing myspace pages for bands and creating EPK’s for artists my senior year of high school. Throughout middle school and high school, I continued creating, which led to my acceptance at The Art Institute of California, Santa Monica.I was in my own little world at The Art Institute until I started collaborating with talented, like-minded individuals which further led to groundbreaking projects. While I was working on collaborative passion projects, I continued to build my brand as a freelance photographer & filmmaker. The best part about where I am today is that my work both motion and still has gotten me here. They did and still do continue to open doors for me. I’ve pursued my art education for a span of over 6 years and have directed and worked on countless industry projects, I can't wait to continue turning the page of this new chapter and seeing where the future takes me.”Highlights:Creativity, entrepreneurship, and branding in Las Vegas. (4:20)Personal branding and video production. (9:17)Las Vegas' evolution from a gambling destination to a global community hub. A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comI met Brad Meshell when I was recording podcasts at Jim Morris’ Impact Effect event in October 2023. He was one of the guests who was to have an episode recorded by me. When he told me that he walks the 444 mile Natchez Trace Parkway every year to raise awareness for the parents of children with autism, I was intrigued.  He gave me one of what I thought to be iconic blue 444 hats, which fit perfectly on my head….which is a rarity for me, as I have a larger than average cranium. Brad started the non-profit after he and his wife learned that their son Jacob was autistic. The reason why he wants to help other parents in similar situations? The isolation. The loneliness. The feeling of being “on your own” with coping with a new and tremendous challenge.  I wanted to have Brad on to share his incredible story and hopefully encourage you to contribute. He begins his walk on April 1 and spans the entire month. From the Jacob’s Audible website:“As parents, we knew Jacob was autistic by his 2nd birthday. We did not get a diagnosis until close to his 3rd birthday, which delayed getting help that much longer. I knew from raising my oldest that babies can do and say things a lot earlier than we think. Forget the milestone checklist. I knew from simply changing his diaper that Jacob was not connecting with me.The rhythm of his babble was different. The eye contact was there, but the emotional expression was not. These signs showed up early when Jacob was a baby. The checklist screenings at his well checkups did not catch this. I was told not to worry. As a parent it really wasn't about the "worry." It was about making sure my child had what he needed to thrive. This is where isolation can begin for many parents. Many start internet searching, which only funnels into longer waitlists for a diagnosis and getting your child the tools needed to develop and grow. The process and understanding of an autism diagnosis can be better. This is why Brad and I are doing this. If telling our story helps another family, I will tell it over and over again. Welcome to Jacob's Audible. We are so happy you're here. Together we can change the play.”Highlights:Walking 15 miles a day on a scenic highway. (4:25)Ultra-running sponsorship and fundraising opportunities. (17:12)Growing up in New Orleans with unique cultural experiences. (29:58)Walking a 444-mile trace and marketing strategies. A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comWith one of my businesses (J2Lighting.com) being in the lighting manufacturing space, I reach out to a lot of electricians. Once upon a time, I was an electrical apprentice…I still am to a certain extent!   Over the last 4 decades, the talent pool for the trades has diminished. They were painted as a last option for kids in High School who just weren’t cut out for college…as if they would be relegated to a miserable life of using their hands and having a skill that could serve their families and provide a good living for many years. Thanks to people like Mike Rowe, kids today are being exposed to the trades as a very viable and fulfilling route to a bountiful livelihood. Michael and Lauren operate American Veteran Electrical Services, which focuses on helping Veterans and Civilians with their electrical services and requirements.  We discuss finding the right people to build an electrical business and the challenges that exist in Tennessee for a trade business. They’re even starting an online course of sorts that will help people do their own surface level electrical work with Empowered Academy.Highlights:Electrical trade and licensing. A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comThe hustle culture’s take on sleep (like most other things they talk about) is typically misleading, misinformed and very damaging. Overused tropes like, “I can sleep when I’m dead”, “get up at (insert insanely early time here)” and “you can function on less sleep than you think” don’t typically jive well with the human body over time. In fact, you can actually accrue SLEEP DEBT. Yeah. You have to pay it back.  I’ve known Dr. Bijoy John going on several years now. He’s amazingly smart, a great conversationalist, and VERY funny. After being a medical doctor for most of his professional career, he decided to specialize in a much needed area. His techniques have saved people from sleep apnea, insomnia, unhealthy sex lives, depression and much more. Dr. John, a Tennessee Titans season ticket holder, even has a pretty solid theory as to why the team has a lull coming back from halftime during home games.  His new book, “Nobody’s Sleeping: 7 Proven Sleep Strategies for Better Health and Happiness” is out now and is a great start to rethink your slumber habits and sleep your way to a better life. Highlights:Sleep and its impact on mental health and overall well-being. A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comThe scene was Miller’s Thrillers in Spring Hill, TN. I was emceeing the main stage events for David Miller’s annual halloween haunt spectacular, which included jugglers, fire eaters/performers, a pirate high-wire act and then some. One night, a petite woman appeared, swallowed in a large coat. Earlier that night, I noticed a new performer on the schedule by the name of “Orissa”, so I figured this must be her. I introduced myself and asked if she had a stage name. She said, in a distinct British flavoring, “Orissa” will work just fine.    When it came time for her to perform, she set up what looked to be two small wood blocks on stands about waist high from the ground, unbridled a bow and arrow, shouldered off her coat, lit an arrow on fire, grabbed the bow and arrow with her FEET, and then continued to hoist herself into a perfect handstand onto the wood blocks. Then like a scorpion…she bent backwards and foot-fired the flaming arrow into a target set across from the stage. The crowd was stunned….then they roared like I’d never heard before.Fast forward a year or so. I was browsing instagram and came across a similar act in one of the various reels I was watching. As it turned out, it was Orissa. And she had done quite well with her social media audience since then! The kicker was that she was living right in our backyard in Franklin, TN. I took a shot and asked if she remembered me, would she like to be on the show? I didn’t expect a response, but I ALWAYS ask! She not only got back to me quickly, but she was more than happy to be on the show. I love it when that happens….and I knew it would be a great episode. It was. Enjoy. You’re welcome.About Orissa:Orissa Kelly is one of the world’s only fire foot archery performers! All the way from Watford (England), Orissa began gymnastics at the age of 3 and went on to compete for Great Britain. At the age of 17 she cancelled her university application just months before starting and followed her heart by joining the circus! After performing aerial silks professionally for a few years, Orissa still craved for something even crazier - even more unique.‘Why be the best when you can be the only one?’In April 2015 Orissa bought her first bow and arrow, went to a cricket field and began teaching herself a skill that was unheard of. After training everyday, 6 hours a day for 6 months she created her foot archery act that would go on to take her around the world.‘I thought I was dreaming but it was dreaming that made this a reality’Since then she has gone on to perform for the Queen of England, appear in the Hollywood Blockbuster ‘Wonder Woman’ and travel the world twice over with her beloved Bae (her bow). In 2020 Orissa aimed for the stars and moved to the USA, with her US TV debut on ‘The Go Big Show’‘I have a license to thrill’Orissa has amassed a strong following of over 1 million across her social media platforms and has reached over 100 million views through her content. She has been featured on Supercar Blondie, Ozzy Man Reviews and named ‘The Queen of Archery’ by the Lad Bible. As she likes to say ‘the future is bright for those who believe it is!’3 Facts You Might Not Know About OrissaShe’s an avid peanut butter lover. She had no previous archery knowledge before 2015 and actually learnt with her feet before her hands!Orissa is half British and half American! Although she most definitely sounds ‘very bloody British’Follow Orissa:www.orissakelly.com__________________________________________________________________________________________________****SUBSCRIBE/RATE/FOLLOW the Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast:www.mmtbp.comwww.instagram.com/mostlymiddletnbusinespodcastwww.instagram.com/jimmccarthyvosTiktok: @jimmccarthyvos       __________________________________________________________
A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comHave I mentioned this is a podcast for “mostly” Middle Tennessee Business Owners, Pros and Entrepreneurs?I met Tony Langdon a few months ago when he joined my BNI chapter. He owns Langdon Flooring, which he moved from Southern California to Middle Tennessee not too long ago. I came to find out that Tony and his brother Roger were in a band together. Not just any band, but America’s #1 Tribute to Huey Lewis & The News called The Heart of Rock and Roll.  I’ve been a pest to poor Tony ever since. As a child of the 80s, Huey Lewis and the News was one of my first introductions to my love for music. As a fairly seasoned drummer in my 40s now, a Huey Tribute is something I could see being a part of. Tony gets to be reminded of that fact, often.  Sorry Tony. Hey man, the music is *that* good and it’s a BLAST to play.About The Heart of Rock and Roll:2023 marks the ten-year anniversary for this Southern California based tribute to 80s icons Huey Lewis & The News. The Heart of Rock & Roll (THoRR, for short) is a top tier show band that goes beyond mere tribute with a Las Vegas level frontman who brings to life the look and sound of Huey Lewis so accurately, he’s fooled more than a few fans. It’s a non-stop multimedia ride through some of the biggest hits of the 80s and 90s in a colorful and exciting show complete with video elements, costume changes and fun audience interaction.THoRR is the perfect festival act and has headlined coast to coast bringing HLN's infectious blend of rock, pop, blues and soul to audiences of all ages. There’s so much music to please all different tastes. With unforgettable hits like, “Hip To Be Square” “Stuck With You” “I Want A New Drug” “The Power of Love” and of course, “The Heart of Rock & Roll” audiences will feel transported “Back In Time” as they enjoy the full Huey Lewis & The News live concert experience. THoRR also covers hits by other artists just as HLN did in their shows. Classics like “The Boys Are Back in Town” “Some Kind of Wonderful” and “But It’s Alright” are sure to please even non hardcore Huey fans. The Heart of Rock & Roll has firmly established itself as one of the most accurate and entertaining tribute acts in the country. The news is spreading across the nation and the message is clear. The Heart of Rock & Roll is still beating.Find out more and keep up to date with this amazing Tribute band:https://hueytribute.com/__________________________________________________________________________________________________****SUBSCRIBE/RATE/FOLLOW the Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast:www.mmtbp.comwww.instagram.com/mostlymiddletnbusinespodcastwww.instagram.com/jimmccarthyvosTiktok: @jimmccarthyvos       __________________________________________________________Shoutout to Matt Wilson for lending his voice to the new intro of MMTBP.Follow him and his podcast from which I may have borrowed the *mostly* concept:https://linktr.ee/mamwmwThe Dad Joke Challenge is sponsored by Ed Fox and Tradebank of Nashville, for when you have unsold inventory or services and think that barter is smarter, go to www.nashville.tradebank.com. The Dad joke challenge with Ed Fox - Author of 101 groan-tastic dad jokes available on Amazon Kindle, or you could go TikTok channel @specialedfoxdadjokes____________________________________________________________****You hear Jim mention it on almost every episode, ME vs. WE and how 2023 will be 1943 all over again….order “PENDULUM:How Past Generations Shape Our Present and Predict Our Future”:https://a.co/d/7oKK7Ip__________________________________________________________________________The co-author of Pendulum wrote a myriad of other books and started a non-profit 21st Century Non-Traditional Business School that you should really check out: Wizard Academy -  www.wizard
