To tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona chats to Quinn Majeski, show runner of the Monster Hour podcast and the game designer behind Absurdia: A tabletop roleplaying game about absurd humor and surreal horror.
Absurdia is an modern fantasy roleplaying game about the inane hilarity and understated horror of everyday life. Inspired by works like Welcome to Night Vale, Alice in Wonderland, Gravity Falls, and the Twilight Zone, Absurdia is an opportunity to indulge in the surreal and outlandish while subverting the absurdity of modern society.
In Absurdia, players take on the roles of peculiar residents of an unassuming suburban town turned upside down by entropic chaos. They’ll contend with occult bureaucracy, a megalomaniacal PTA, sentient cars, malevolent garden flora, a non-Euclidean network of back alleys, and the occasional extradimensional cosmic horror in a darkly idyllic community.

Content Warnings: KULT: Divinity Lost is a contemporary horror roleplay game with mature adult themes and dark subject matter.
Specific content warnings for this scenario, The Driver, include: Guns, Gunshot injury, Gun Violence, Robbery gone wrong, Blood, bodily harm and death, kidnapping and abduction, self harm to get out of restraints and fire.
Show Notes
This week, Fiona is joined by Rhys for 'KULT: Divinity Lost', a highly acclaimed and infamous contemporary horror role-playing game.
Originally released in 1991, this 4th edition of KULT came out in 2018 and features a rule-set based on a variant of the Powered By The Apocalypse system.
In KULT: Divinity Lost, the protagonists are people who become involved in or are pulled into events tied to their pasts. Past sins catch up with them, demanding atonement. Childhood fears bubble up to the surface, manifesting in physical form. These terrors take their shape based on what lurks inside of us.
The protagonists are forced to journey into the abyss, perhaps even across the threshold of death itself, only to discover there is no final destination – Death is only the beginning.
The Driver by Robin Liljenberg is a one on one improv heavy KULT: Divinity Lost scenario. A desperate fugitive is speeding through the desert in a failing car, fleeing some unknown threat and bringing an injured person or hostage. They see an abandoned location ahead and must decide what to do once the car stops running from lack of gas.

Sin Eater is a haunting solo tabletop roleplaying game that plunges the player into the wretched world of sin-eating: a real, historical practice wherein an individual was hired to subsume the sins of the dead into their own soul through the consumption of a ritual meal near the body.
As the sin-eater, you hold the power to grant eternal peace—or unyielding condemnation—to the departed, but every choice the player make comes at a cost. To err is human, to forgive divine; do you believe yourself worthy of taking on the mantle of a god and offering absolution of errors?

This week, Fiona is joined by Liv, Liz, Jess, Pip and special guest game master Zack from Realms of Peril and Glory, for 'Savage Worlds: Adventure Edition'.
Designed by Shane Lacy Hensley, with Clint Black and published by Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Savage Worlds is a Fast, Furious and Fun rules system which gives players plenty of depth to create their characters and keep bookkeeping to a minimum for the Game Master. It handles pulp action, gritty noir, supers, hard scifi, space opera, horror, and anything you can imagine! Which means you can create your own setting, convert an existing one, or pick up one of Pinnacle Entertainments amazing settings like Deadlands.
Realms of Peril & Glory is an Actual Play podcast of big laughs and big heart! They jump from one setting to another and devour as many game systems as they can get their hands on. RPG is packed with gorgeous original music and glorious sound design that sweeps listeners up into the stories of their incredible cast.

To tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona chats to podcaster, game designer, and cultural consultant Daniel Kwan about his upcoming game: Wandering Blades.
Wandering Blades is a roleplaying game of violent, martial arts melodrama for 2-5 players. In this game, players take on the roles of highly skilled martial artists who wander the lands seeking to redress wrongs, help the downtrodden, and free the innocent from oppressive forces.
Using a streamlined system inspired by old-school renaissance products, Wandering Blades enables dynamic and lethal combat while empowering players to tell heroic and melodramatic stories inspired by Chinese wuxia media, Hong Kong action cinema, Japanese animation, and action video games.
