Starting this podcast was a big adventure for two best friends.  Kim and Tricia have been friends for over 25 years. Their friendship began in Mrs. Carpenter’s 10th grade English class where by chance Kim sat behind Tricia.  Tricia was a bit of a goody two-shoes and Kim a little more on the wild side. This chance seating came in handy as Kim asked Tricia to move her elbow so she could cheat off of her on a spelling test.  The joke was on Kim because Tricia is a terrible speller, but a great friendship began.   Kim has always been great with the one-liners and that would prove early in their friendship.  It was winter in Florida, so probably around 50 degrees. Tricia mentioned to Kim that since she’d been wearing pants all week she hadn’t shaved.  Kim told her, girl you need to clean that up because “you never know.”. That one phrase has gone on to become the theme of their friendship. Like most things in high school, their friendship grew apart after graduation and they lost track.  As fate would have it again they ran into each other ten years later at the Twistee Treat with their children.  The friendship didn’t pick up where it left off but merely a hello and good to see you. A few weeks later a mutual friend invited them both over for a Wednesday night.  That’s where it all began again. There was plenty of Wednesday night weakness packed full of shenanigans, but most importantly just chatting with your best friend.  They have raised their children together and gone on vacations and shared in many a milestone. Their kids are finally in the ten grade and ironically are in 10th grade Spanish class together. Time doesn’t define friendships, but your commitment does.  Kim and Tricia’s friendships grew stronger when they both got married a few years ago.  Kim, always the party planner and executor, was Tricia’s saving grace on wedding day. She made sure if there was a hiccup Tricia never knew.  A few months later Tricia was able to return the favor and be that person that calmed her nerves, told her no, “that's not a good idea”, was by her side when she needed her and behind the scenes when she didn’t know she needed her. Don’t let this friendship love story fool you thought.  Kim and Tricia do not always agree. It isn’t always sunshine and rainbows.  However, when you have so many years of history behind you and a strong foundation, you can tell your friend how it is. Kim and Tricia hope that you enjoy the stories of their crazy adventures in friendship, marriage, raising kids, work and life.  Because with Kim and Tricia you never know.

Kim’s weekend started out uneventful, but like everything in her life, nothing was normal.  With a boat trip planned in a few weeks, Kim and her husband James decided to take the boat out, but it won’t start.  Not to let this stop them, they take up the invite and go on someone else's boat. Kim and Tricia have reunited after almost two weeks apart.  They had a lot of catching up to do.     On hiatus Kim and her family also decided to go spend the day hitting a few golf balls at the Drive Shack.  Besides mini-golf, Kim isn’t much of a golfer. It was impressive that she did know that you use irons in golf, although she thought it was called a tire iron.   During her hiatus, Tricia and her family embarked on a 10-hour car ride to go skiing in the mountains of North Carolina.  It was a true test in parenting.    Do you like solve crimes? Captain Hiram's #8

Captain Hiram's #8

2020-02-1431:54

Kim and Tricia hit the road, or water, for the trip they have been preparing for.  They along with their husband and two other couples were headed to Captain Hiram’s in Vero Beach. Upon arrival at Hiram’s, the party was already on.  Everyone else that was coming up for the weekend had already arrived.  Kim needed to play catch-up. Kim started crushing vodka and didn’t eat.  This lead to a night of craziness.  Do you like solve crimes? Kim and Tricia hit the road once again for a camping adventure to celebrate a 50th birthday celebration.  Tricia couldn’t stay Friday night due to an early morning pig weight-in (oh Fair fun). After hanging out for a little bit on Friday night, Tricia told Kim, “don’t be making stories without me.”  I mean someone needed to be there to tell the story of crazy Kim. In true Kim fashion, stories just happen.  Luckily, Tricia’s sister was there to give a Friday night recap.  The weekend was a great one full of great stories. Be sure to listen to these stories as well as learn about Jeremy. Weird Holidays Coming off Valentine’s Day got us thinking and talking about holidays that were created by great marketing.    Have you, like Kim, ever thought I love buffets so much there should be a holiday.  Well, you are in luck, National Buffet Day is January 2nd. According to Kim, there is a way to tackle the buffet.  You get there between breakfast and lunch times. Always trying to save a few dollars, you pay the breakfast price and you stay long enough to get lunch.  So you think anyone has ever gotten kicked out for staying too long at the buffet? There is a holiday for everyone and everything. Step aside Valentine’s Day, there is an entire list of made-up holidays.  Kim got buffet day and Tricia god burrito day.  Listen to hear the girls break down every holiday and see if your favorite holiday hits on the list. Kim and Tricia invite guests, Shannon and Michelle, into their “studio to discuss all things reality, reality shows anyway.  Like most episodes, this one goes off the rails a few times.  Shannon bought tickets for the four of them to go see Stassi on her podcast tour. It was such a great time.  For a second the girls thought they were either part of the show or going to be burnt to a crisp. On the way home Kim and Tricia did try to do a Stassi Live recap for What Happened This Week but the audio was really bad. So, since that audio is forever gone in the podcast graveyard, Kim brought up that during the show Stassi talked about her celebrity hall pass and everyone thinks Tricia’s choice that night was hilarious.  Kim kept her hall pass safe with Matthew McConaughey well Tricia chose Garth Brooks, 1990’s Garth Brooks.   A weekend recap:   Kim did some yard work and lost her bet with the fight. Tricia was at the fair watching her son sell his pig. Shout out to Agri-Gators, Inc. for supporting his project!!!!!!!!!!! First up Siesta Key on MTV.  All the drama that wealthy kids on Florida’s west coast can bring. Both Shannon and Kim have made trips to the places that are filmed.  Shannon along with her husband went to Siesta Key with another couple. While there they saw the cameras filming Brandon and Amanda. Shannon got her moment when she saw Amanda later in the night and yelled out I love you Amanda and Amanda responded, I love you too!!  Kim’s trip wasn’t as successful. Even with her daughter’s help to find the Siesta Key mansion, she didn’t see anyone!   Vanderpump Rules is on its eighth-season and the major cast members are all back with the addition of Stassi’s boyfriend Beau (now finance).  A spin-off for Lisa Vanderpump from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and her restaurant SUR. It is so crazy when watching Vanderpump that the cast members say one thing and Bravo shows the clip of the complete opposite.  Do they not realize that it will be aired. It has been a wild few episodes so far.   Have you ever reached out to a reality star on social media?  Kim responded to a post of Stassi’s. Shannon’s husband sent a friend request to Kate from Below Deck, but was not accepted.  Michelle took the grand prize. She got a response from Kathyrn from Southern Charm! Michelle asked her a question and she responded. Listen in as a new reality show, Downtown Stuart Girls, is in the works.  Be sure to follow along for updates. Make March Yours: Have you ever had a question you wanted to ask your hairdresser, skin professional or plastic surgeon? We’ll join Kim and Tricia as they help Make March Yours.  Just as New Year's resolutions fade, the girls hope to re-motivate, educate and always make you laugh.  Drop us an email at whathappenedthisweekpodcast@gmail.com Website: www.whathappenedthisweek.com Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/whathappenedthisweek/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/what_happened_this_week/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/HappenedWeek
Kim and Tricia hit the road for a sit down with the incredibly kind and informative, Elise Ryan.  Elsie is an amazing teacher (former teacher of the year), a wife, lover of Jesus and Beauty Counter consultant to name a few.  When Elise realized what was in her skincare and makeup products she decided to do some research. She found a company that not only bans 1500+ ingredients but is also socially conscious. Want to contact Elise? Kim and Tricia sit down again to discuss the week and weekend. All this on TV has been Coronavirus. Kim’s mom, in North Carolina, asked her to send hand sanitizer because they are all out up there. Sorry, mom all out her too. After watching the Netflix documentary, The Game Changers, Kim has decided that she is going plant-based! She made an expensive trip to get all the goodies she needs to get started. We will check in again next week to see how she has done. Sitting down to get your hair done can be intimidating or you might be too embarrassed to ask a question out of fear that maybe it’s a stupid question. Well have no fear, there are no stupid questions with Kim and Tricia. Kim and Tricia sit down with the owners of the Hair Hook Up in Hobe Sound, FL. Deanna and Kendralyn went from best friends to business partners. Together they make a great team of stylists. There are some things in life that you can’t work out to get, or use beauty products or hair products to fix.  Sometimes you need a little help. You can’t grow bigger boobs or correct hair loss on your own. You need a little help and there isn’t anything wrong with that.   Kim and Tricia sit down for a little Q&A (done Kim & Tricia style) with a couple of gals that work for a prominent plastic surgeon office in town.   Want to connect with us? Boobs and Corona #14

Boobs and Corona #14

2020-03-2701:02:38

We hope that all of you have been listening to our series of Make March Yours and have gotten some great information out of the episodes.  We really enjoyed having all our guests on the podcast and hitting the road.  The things we learned: Tricia cuts and colors her own hair  Kim has to get her hair done a lot sooner than others do to her grey streak Kim had a tummy tuck Tricia had her boobs done We also tackle our list of insecurities and try to not let them overwhelm them and make changes going forward with their own goals.  Not just our bodies but our lack of culinary skills or Kim’s stumbling over words. Like everywhere else in the world, we couldn’t stay away from the word Corona virus.  Kim has had her family meeting about quarantine. Kim will leave her family behind to save herself. Trying to navigate this new daily normal with facing down Corona, Kim and Tricia are both very thankful for their employers and keeping them safe.  Tricia’s office has stopped all traffic into the office and Kim is working from home. All this Corona again. Are you scared to cough in public?  Few things we’ve learned are online doctors are the way to go, the service protects both the patient and the medical staff. Even Tricia’s high-risk OB specialist is seeing her via Telemedicine. Also, drive through an urgent care center. While our centers aren’t giving tests for the virus they are testing regular flu to rule that out for patients.  Again Kim and Tricia are so thankful for our employers and protecting us through these times.  As Kim continues to work from home she has started incorporating a morning bike ride. Tricia did confess that if she were working from home she is far too pregnant to work out and would just eat cookies.  Kim may or may not start a child sweatshop to sell homemade products that the kids she is homeschooling make. Much like the rest of the world, we are in another week of quarantine. This week we did the podcast virtually. We also brought on our most important guests yet, our husbands. These men get talked about constantly on the podcast, that we thought it only right to give them their own time to shine, and boy did they shine.  Be sure to listen to the episode as James mixes his own cocktails and goes rogue. Kim sits on the porch as a train and what sounds like a police chase go by. Nothing but laughs in this one. Perfect for a time like this. Want to connect with us? Coming straight out of the house. Another week of virtual recording.  Has everyone gotten a chance to see James’s video from last week? If not go check out his TikTok or the Day Drinking Moms for the explicit version. James wants to go viral and is checking his numbers.  Tricia channeled Kim in a TikTok video with her son, Gavin. She gave it her all and showed her enthusiasm.  As we continue to stay at home we have had lots of time to catch up on Netflix and other streaming apps.  Check out this week's podcast episode as we chat about our TOP 16 Netflix Binge-Worthy Shows Want to connect with us? Kim and Tricia finally reunite and record this week’s episode together. They weren’t in the studio but Kim’s home office. Kim and husband are selling their house and Tricia’s husband sets the real estate sign in the yard. No better time to record. This week the girls talk lots of things about dating, including dating apps and crazy stories. Tricia talks about how her long term relationships all came about because either she knew them or someone she knew introduced. All exes were vetted Although Tricia should have checked the credentials of the people doing the vetting could have saved a lot of time and issues. Tricia and her husband refer to ex’s in their past as placeholders. They just held the place until they found each other.  Kim's best story involves a guy she was dating that she let borrow her truck. He took the truck on a drive that ended up involving the police, highway patrol, helicopter, stop sticks, police dogs and guns. It is a must listen to hear the story.  Be sure to listen to hear all the crazy stories in between. Want to connect with us? Kim and Tricia have been friends since high school. It’s been a long time, but it was easier back then. There wasn’t the whole world out there to search for a friend, only about 1300 people in the entire school, 350 in each class, and maybe two dozen in the group that they hung out with. It only makes sense that they became friends. Fast forward 25 years and husbands, kids, careers, families, and busy lives. The process is much harder. Just trying to find the time for the current friends they have can be challenging. Listen in as Kim and Tricia share their experience of finding friends over forty. Want to connect with us?
