In an overwhelmingly Lefty comedic landscape, right-leaning stand-up Geoff Norcott is a rare beast. In WMPT he gets to the heart of what ordinary people think about social and political issues. Whatever the contentious subject – he’ll be honest and blunt, but without being a dick. Mostly. Guests come from across the social and political divide, including, Romesh Ranganathan, Jonathan Pie, Katherine Ryan, Andrew Doyle, David Baddiel, Konstantin Kisin, Owen Jones and many more. Geoff has appeared on Live at the Apollo, Backstage with Katherine Ryan, Would I lie to You? Have I Got News For You? The Last Leg, Mash Report, Question Time, Mock the Week and pops up frequently on UK political debate programmes. Geoff's book 'Where Did I Go Right?' came out in 2021 and top the political comedy best-seller list on multiple occasions. Geoff also won an operational medal for his five tours performing to British troops in Afghanistan. "One of our most refreshingly funny comedians of any stripe." - Sunday Times "A Right laugh." - The Guardian*
This is a ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ episode. The final section about Dominic Frisby's musical podcast series 'Kisses on a Postcard ' alone is brilliant. I really recommend this podcast.
Why is not upsetting people on Twitter so important? 07:50?
Love this podcast! Round #2 for Geoff & Alistair would be great (please?)
The same Russell Kane who stated the cancel culture wasn't an issue, while also stating he deleted any social media posts older than 6 months just in case.......
Great pod, some stuff I agree with, some not so much but everyones different. 4 stars!
Just come to this podcast and my politics are in line entirely with Matt Forde and I love TB too. I have also listened to your one with Henning, Katherine and Romesh, all good. Its interesting and funny to hear a counter view my own which is funny and well thought out, thoroughly recommend.
I think the difference between someone on the left like AKA Jonathan Pie and people on the right is that he thinks most people are “fucking idiots” who can’t be trusted while people on the right generally think people are good and will do the right thing most of the time without needing to be coerced.
Book bought
"A virus that's on its way out"... How wrong you were. I like you Geoff, I do, but you should avoid speaking with such certainty about topics on which you are not so well informed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nico Yearwood interview. Geoff and Nico's comedy styles complemented each other well. They shared some fascinating insights into several aspects of modern attitudes, in an entertaining manner. (Note to self: search for Nico Yearwood's podcast)
Do you count the cussings that you list when you're doing the cussing count in the cussing count for the next show. 😁😁😁
Brilliant. Thanks for the entertainment and valid points in this very divided time we live in. Keep them coming please.
Top pod. Keep it going...
awesome podcast, one of the few I listen too, shame it's only weekly. would like a couple every week. particularly now we all in lockdown 👀
Great entertainment as usual.Very funny guy does say a lot of what I think but that's why he is there speaking up for the silent middle aged white males. 5*
Excellent podcasts... Could you please remind me of the email address to write in comments?
Jayde was brilliant on this episode. Refreshing honesty
Discovered Geoff through the Mash Report, discovered this podcast through his twitter feed. So great to have a UK comedian who isn't a raving lefty, and who can make comedy that I can relate to
usually a fan but episode 17 i had to tune out. Geoff tried his best but after 30 minutes it was clear his guest was just contrary for the sake of attaining a new audience. shame as some of his points had me thinking.
5*****, funny, irreverent and funny
