What a CreepSeason 30, Episode 3The Murder of Kirsten Costas(The Inspiration for the 1994 TV  Movie Death of a Cheerleader)In the idyllic suburb of Orinda, California, the summer of 1984 was marked by the shocking murder of 15-year-old Kirsten Costas. A popular high school student, Kirsten, was killed by her classmate Bernadette Protti from Miramonte High School. Motivated by jealousy and social pressure, the crime revealed the darker aspects of affluent adolescent life. The murder went unsolved for months, and when the killer was finally found, it shocked the community. I contend that this case was one of the first crimes to highlight the insecurities of Generation X. The incident inspired the made-for-TV film "A Friend to Die For" (1994), later retitled "Death of a Cheerleader." Starring Kellie Martin and Tori Spelling, the movie explored themes of peer pressure, envy, and the price of popularity, giving the case a haunting cultural resonance that still lingers today.Trigger Warning: MurderSources for this episode:The Campo ClawKirsten Costas Wikipedia CNNDiscovery +MurderpediaThe Los Angeles TimesRanker Yahoo NewsPeople MagazineInquisitorScreen RantThe New York TimesThe CinemaholicThe San Francisco ExaminerBe sure to follow us on social media. The company's name also has origins that some consider to be racist.  While his actions and statements have many troubling aspects, it’s essential to acknowledge that he is Canadian, which implies a certain level of decency. He has also been a benefactor for his homeland, so he isn't 100% total  Creep—there might be some opportunity for growth!Wilson was diagnosed with a subtype of muscular dystrophy called facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy at age 32. What a CreepSeason 29, Episode 5“The Cotton Club Murders”This week’s episode covers the 1983 murder of Roy Radin, a theatrical producer with ties to a planned film called The Cotton Club. At the time, director Francis Ford Coppola and producer Robert Evans were developing the film, a period crime drama loosely inspired by the original club. Radin was found murdered execution-style in a remote canyon in California. The killing was eventually tied to a tangled web involving cocaine-fueled ambition, mob connections, and a bitter feud over money tied to the movie’s production. One of the key figures implicated was Karen Greenberger, a drug-addled femme fatale with ties to organized crime.Trigger Warnings: Murder and sexual assault.Sources for this episode:Roy Raydin WikipediaWondery Hollywood & CrimeAll That is InterestingGolden Globes UPIVultureThe 1980s: The Deadliest DecadeLos Angeles Times 1991New York Times 1983Be sure to follow us on social media. He owned 28 major newspapers, 18 magazines, radio stations, and film companies. Hearst was one of the first media moguls to become a public figure. What a CreepSeason 29, Episode 3Brian Buckmire (ABC News Legal Contributor)Host of Bad Rap: The Case Against DiddySean "Diddy" Combs was among hip-hop's most influential entertainers and entrepreneurs for decades. But Diddy’s star began to implode when a video came out showing the music mogul assaulting his then-girlfriend. There had long been whispers about Diddy's aggression. But critics say his influence and relevance kept the rumors quiet until now. A raft of new lawsuits detail shocking allegations of sexual abuse and manipulation orchestrated in so-called "freak offs" -- sex parties Diddy allegedly ordered, videotaped, and controlled. Diddy now faces federal charges that include sex trafficking. He has denied all wrongdoing and said all encounters were consensual. A new podcast from 20/20 and ABC Audio traces how whispers of abuse came to light and led to Diddy’s downfall. ABC News legal contributor Brian Buckmire takes listeners inside the rise and fall of Diddy, the allegations and his defense in a six-part weekly narrative series launching March 25, and returning with twice weekly real-time updates once the trial slated for May gets underway. Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy, Trigger warning: Sexual assault and sex trafficking. Be sure to follow us on social media. What a Creep“The Disappearance of Bobby Dunbar” (1912)Season 29, Episode 1Margo & Sonia love us a creepy historical crime, and what is more puzzling than the case of Bobby Dunbar? In 1912, four-year-old Bobby Dunbar vanished during a family trip to Swayze Lake, Louisiana, sparking a massive search. Eight months later, a boy resembling Bobby was found with a handyman, William Walters, who insisted the child was Bruce Anderson, the son of Julia Anderson. Despite her claims, the Dunbars took the boy and raised him as Bobby. In 2004, DNA testing confirmed he was not biologically related to the Dunbars, meaning the real Bobby Dunbar's fate remains unknown, making this one of history’s most haunting cases of mistaken identity.Sources for this episode:RankerWikipedia This American Life ep 352BuzzFeed VideoMorbid PodcastCountry Roads MagazineAll That’s InterestingIFL Science Trigger warning: Child abduction Be sure to follow us on social media. What a Creep Led Zeppelin on TourSeason 28, Episode 7Led Zeppelin is making headlines again with releasing their first official documentary in decades, titled "Becoming Led Zeppelin." The film primarily focuses on the band's music and the early stages of their career as iconic touring legends. One of us is a huge fan (the one leading this episode) and appreciates the band’s remarkable talent while also acknowledging their complicated history, which includes some unsettling stories.Their life on the road has become part of the groupie lore passed down for decades, and there are also stories involving witchcraft and devil worship connected to Jimmy Page. The band officially broke up in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham. They have regrouped in various forms over the years, but the late '60s and '70s Led Zeppelin—with their numerous tales of debauchery—form the basis for most of this episode. However, it escalated in 2024 with a series of explosive diss tracks. What a CreepThe Super Bowl’s Big Wardrobe MalfunctionSeason 28, Episode 4It was the wardrobe malfunction seen around the world. We’re going to talk about the infamous 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
