Description

What is sound? Every episode, we will begin with this seemingly simple question. But is it? Sound is everywhere, all of the time, and yet most of us take it for granted. How does it even work? And why does it make us feel the way that it does?

My name is Phoebe Dubar (aka IKSRE) and I'm a vocalist, viola player, music producer and certified, practicing Sound Healer, and together, we're going to dive deep into this topic. I'll chat to experts across topics like recording, sound healing, music and the sounds of the living world, and treat you to some special sound healing practices along the way.

Welcome to the first episode of "What is Sound?" - this week we go back to the (not so) basics of something we are surrounded by every moment of every day, even when we sleep. Sound! - what is it? And how does it work? I'll also treat you to a little listening exercise that will (hopefully) begin to open your ears, and hearts, to the magic of deep listening.Donate to Bush Heritage Australia: https://www.bushheritage.org.au/www.iksre.comSOCIALSwww.instagram.com/iksrehttps://www.facebook.com/iksremusichttps://twitter.com/iksreSPOTIFYhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/5oyUb8IC2vvoJeewltXQ7O?si=6Bgnskz_Q4WzySveIFjeKQ Hosted on Acast. Happy NAIDOC Week! 🖤💛❤️ On this week's episode, we chat with Lionel Lauch from Living Culture. Lionel is a Gunditjmara Kirrae Wurrung-Bundjalung man, living on the Mornington Peninsula, where he runs guided meditation and bush tucker walks and Yidaki healings. Lionel generously shares some incredibly valuable, Indigenous wisdom - from plant medicine and bush tucker to Dreamtime stories, the sounds of Country and the power of the Yidaki as a sound healing tool. Lionel finishes the interview by sharing a short, Yidaki meditation.Find out more about Lionel and Living Culture: https://www.livingculture.org.au/Living Culture socials: https://www.instagram.com/wearelivingculture/Donate to Living Culture Ltd: https://www.livingculture.org.au/donations/Voice to Parliament training: https://ulurustatement.org/trainingwww.iksre.comSOCIALSwww.instagram.com/iksrehttps://www.facebook.com/iksremusichttps://twitter.com/iksreSPOTIFYhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/5oyUb8IC2vvoJeewltXQ7O?si=6Bgnskz_Q4WzySveIFjeKQ Hosted on Acast. This week, I'm flying solo. Chatting with you about all things 'sound healing' - what it is, how it works and why it makes us feel so good. I'll give you a brief history of (ancient) Himalayan and (not so ancient) Crystal singing bowls (which have a pretty hilarious origin story), and treat you to a short, bowl-based mini sound bath at the end of the episode - best listened to on headphones or proper speakers. This week, I'm chatting with James Lloyd-Wyatt of Ginger Studios, Northcote about everything to do with the "aberration" that is sound in its recorded form - from working in recording studios and techniques to the physics of sound and acoustics, and stories of his work with Wu Tang and how reverb is like a little ear cuddle.Donate to Movember https://au.movember.com/donate/details?memberId=99 + Lifeline https://www.lifeline.org.au/get-involved/make-a-donation/Find Ginger Studios:https://ginger-studios.com.au/https://www.instagram.com/ginger_studiosFIND IKSREwww.iksre.comSOCIALSwww.instagram.com/iksrehttps://www.facebook.com/iksremusichttps://twitter.com/iksreSPOTIFYhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/5oyUb8IC2vvoJeewltXQ7O?si=6Bgnskz_Q4WzySveIFjeKQ Hosted on Acast. For the last episode of series 1, I'm finally chatting with a musician - and a brilliant one at that - Brad Deschamps (aka anthène) as we discuss musicianship, the creative process, inspiration and even touch on how robots will never be able make music quite like a flawed, human.Donate to Toronto Cat Rescue https://www.torontocatrescue.ca/donateFind anthènehttps://anthene.bandcamp.com/https://open.spotify.com/artist/760Zt0PM5aus5kfBCf4FpR?si=AU0x_Z3XSl6Z0jgG3SNvOAhttps://www.instagram.com/polarseasrecordingsFIND IKSREwww.iksre.comSOCIALSwww.instagram.com/iksrehttps://www.facebook.com/iksremusichttps://twitter.com/iksreSPOTIFYhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/5oyUb8IC2vvoJeewltXQ7O?si=6Bgnskz_Q4WzySveIFjeKQ Hosted on Acast.
