Martinus Evans was given two options by his doctor, "Lose weight or die." But, he created a third option by taking his life into his own hands...and running a marathon.  Listen in on this podcast episode to learn what fueled Martinus to not only run a marathon, but become an advocate for all the runners at the back of the pack who have been left behind, who've had finish lines and aid stations broken down before they get there, who have been ridiculed and insulted just for being on the course. He founded a running club called Slow AF Run Club and wrote a book, Slow AF Run Club! There are so many great anecdotes and take aways, everyone will love listening in and reading his book. Countless half marathons together enjoying the trails and each others company. Well, Morgan was starting to feel like she was holding Buddy back...so it was time to step it up and run a MARATHON! Our very own Kelsi (a/k/a Smol Warrior, a name given to her by her Coach) set a goal of running her first MARATHON...26.2 miles!  As the year 2020 unfolded, she found herself at home under a "stay at home" order by the Governor, graduating from college "virtually," and her workplace closed as a non-essential business...As for the marathon dream, the in-person race was canceled and participants had the option of deferring to 2021, or running it virtually.  A virtual race means no course support, no spectators, no planned route, no finish line party...just you and the miles.  Just you, setting out to accomplish a goal for the pure satisfaction of it.  I understand virtual races can be fun and a great way to support local charities...but training and running your FIRST MARATHON virtually?  Seriously, how bad ass is that?  And that's what this Smol Warrior did!  Listen in to hear Kelsi tell her story. We have a great line up of guests for January and we'll drop a new story each week throughout the month (4 parts/4 stories)!  Prepare to be inspired and motivated as you listen to the stories of 5 local athletes who trained hard to accomplish a goal, during a pandemic.  You won't want to miss this, so subscribe to our podcast today!
