René is deeply passionate about supporting students from Mattapan’s predominantly Latine and Caribbean community, many of whom are Spanish speaking. A native of Clifton, New Jersey, René has been engaged in community care and activism from a young age. His work with City Year connects his academic interests with his commitment to empowering communities he feels a deep connection to. René aims to continue working with volunteer organizations to provide holistic, culturally responsive education to underserved communities.
