In this episode, I talk with Dr Maggie Wyss, a researcher and global health expert who has spent years studying how women make decisions in pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.
We talk about why modern motherhood often feels overwhelming, the crucial (but little-known) transition of matrescence, and why asking for help should be seen as strength – not weakness. Why modern day motherhood is so much harder than it has to be

Asking for support is an act of rebellion, not a sign of weakness
Why we must get reattuned with our intuition and why this is essential for making better decisions
What we can learn from our ancestors about mothering
Dr Maggie Wyss is a researcher, writer, and global health expert whose work centers on the social and systemic forces that shape motherhood. From East Africa to Switzerland, she has studied how mothers make decisions in the face of uncertainty, pressure, and power imbalances – research that has informed her work with organizations like UNICEF, WHO, and the World Bank. Today, she writes about motherhood as a public issue, not just a personal journey – arguing that it deserves recognition, investment, and collective responsibility. Originally from Canada, Maggie lives in Switzerland with her husband and three young children.

I started getting osteopathy treatments in the early years of motherhood and it helped me so much. My body was rather misaligned and in pain after two pregnancies, carrying babies for hours every day and not taking proper care of myself. Osteopathy was one of the modalities that helped me so much on my journey back to prioritizing myself and having my health and energy back.
I only wish I had known of osteopathy and its benefits before I had my children. I had no idea that it could have helped with having a more easeful birth and supported my baby and myself with the many common newborn challenges. How good is that?
In the most recent episode of The Wild and Well Podcast, I chat with Osteopath Tessa Lang-Larson about how we can use osteopathy to our benefit during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. Tessa and I chat about:
What osteopathy is
How osteopathy can support fertility
The benefits of osteopathy for pregnancy and birth
The importance of proper alignment for birth
Doable strategies to support a more easeful birth
Why early intervention is optimal but that it is never too late to make positive changes
How we can help our children with their anxiety, emotional regulation, and postural development
Tessa is a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner. She is a member of the Ontario Osteopathic Association. She graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in 2021 and obtained her specialization in Infant Osteopathy in 2023.
Tessa is a mom of three. She is also one of the founders of The Well Body Group in the Kawartha Lakes, Ontario. This centre offers a holistic approach to health and offers osteopathy, massage, pediatric physiotherapy, counselling and several other health modalities.
Tessa’s interest in supporting women and their babies to have optimal health during pregnancy and postpartum began after birthing her first two children.
Using osteopathy, Tessa helps moms with pregnancy-related issues such as aches and pains and proper pelvic alignment for an optimal birth. She also helps with many common issues for infants, including lactation and latching, tongue ties, colic and other digestive concerns, and sleep challenges.

Time in nature and play are some of the best teachers for our children. Yet many children spend much of their days indoors in highly structured activities.
Parenting becomes more manageable when I take my kids outside. We all calm down there and find endless ways to play. Do you as well?
In this episode, I speak with Jayda Rivera, a Reggio Emilia Play School Teacher, all about how we can use nature and play to help our children learn and develop. Outside of her work with children, she educates parents and teachers and provides coaching services on nature play and the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching.
Jayda and I chat about:
Why child centred education is useful
The impact of nature on children’s education and learning
What the Reggio Emilia approach to education is
Why practicing noticing is so important
How we facilitate more play in our children’s lives
The importance of play for our children’s learning and development
Why we need to practice slowing down and being present with our kids
How children learn best
