Flash flooding possible as strong thunderstorms move through South Central Texas

As isolated, scattered storms move through South Central Texas Wednesday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service is warning of possible flooding caused by excessive rainfall Wednesday evening through Thursday morning, May 1-2. A flash flood watch is in effect. A complex of strong to severe thunderstorms is anticipated to move across portions of the area, especially the late evening and overnight hours Wednesday into Thursday morning. Floresville Wind Ensemble brings home awards

On Saturday, April 20, the Floresville Middle School Wind Ensemble competed in the American Classic Music Festival held at The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio. The Wind Ensemble performed their competition program on the same stage that many prestigious acts from around the world have shared. Each of the adjudicators for the event awarded the Wind Ensemble the highest possible scores for their performance and named them an “Outstanding Performer” amongst all other acts that were being showcased over the multi-day festival. JV Tigers defeat the Eagles, 5-0

As the high school baseball season winds down, the Floresville Tigers junior varsity team made their last home stand count April 23 against the Pleasanton Eagles. The Tigers held the Eagles from scoring once again. The pitching did its job of limiting hits and the defense kept the Eagle runners from crossing the plate. County taxpayers to see $2.2 million in refunds

Some Wilson County property owners will be receiving refunds — and the total comes to more than million. It was a request from a neighboring county for a report that first alerted Wilson County Tax Assessor-Collector Dawn Polasek Barnett that something was amiss. “Guadalupe County reached out for reports related to SB2,” Barnett told the Wilson County News. Early voting winds down; Election Day approaches

With races for local school boards and city councils to be decided Saturday, May 4, a number of ballots were cast in the first five days of early voting, April 22-26. In contests for Floresville mayor and two city council seats, 462 votes were cast early in person.
