The Floresville High School varsity Jaguar softball team’s season came to a close May 18 in their bid for the Regional Semifinals against Needville. The Jaguars fell 0-6 in game one against the Lady Jays in Ingleside on May 16. On May 18, the teams traveled to Hallettsville for game two of the series. The Floresville Tigers varsity baseball team took on the Calallen Wildcats in the Regional Quarterfinals championship in a three-game series May 16-18. The Tigers fought for every game and inning but eventually fell short in game three by one point. Game one kicked off the series, when the Tigers traveled to Calallen May 16. The Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter has served the area for nine years, providing a place for abandoned and stray dogs and cats to rehabilitate while they wait to find loving homes. “It’s sustained by the community,” shelter Director Alena Berlanga said. “It reflects what the community thinks is important.” Donations from community members helped the shelter become a reality, and donations and grants keep it going.
