We have another segment on the Shallotte Shallywags that ties into the regained popularity of baseball in the Carolinas and also throughout the US. We talk to Shallywags GM Steve Prokop who gives us deeper insight into how the game is so deeply intwined in American society and life. You may want to read my recent blog on baseball's popularity turnaround: https://wingding.tv/baseball-popular-again-what/
In our third segment on the Shallotte Shallywags baseball team that is drawing lots of locals and visitors, we look at the technology the team uses while at West Brunswick High School. Not only is the tech helping these players improve their games, but it also allows their families, if they don't live in the area, to watch and see the players progress.

This week on Smash Factor, we break down a stacked slate of events from Michigan, Coastal Carolina, Minnesota/Iowa, and Arizona—where the stakes were high and the bombs were bigger. From wet conditions on the East Coast to a 439-yard rocket in the desert, the chase for World Championship spots just got real.
Standouts, surprises, and possibly the longest drive of the season? It’s all right here. Let’s go.
The Shallotte Shallywags baseball team gets plenty of housing help from locals in Brunswick County. They open their homes to players who don't live here. They're coming from other areas and states to improve their baseball skills and maybe make it big. Besides the players, the locals providing the housing find great benefits too. At first, there weren't enough room providers, but by the time we finalized this piece all the players had been taken care of. So, if you want to do it, you will have to wait until next year.
Brunswick County now has two local baseball teams with high school and college players who are enjoying the rejuvenated popularity of baseball while working toward a chance at pro ball. Carolina Buzz had the chance to attend the game between the Shallotte Shallywags and the Oak Island Loggerheads. Both teams are part of the Old North State League. We meet The Shallywags General Manager and Mascot -- who is the same person -- Steve Prokop -- who is not only making baseball a reality for the players but also an entertainment venue for locals and summer visitors -- with a flair of Savannah Banana Style. We give you a feel for these nighttime outings you will enjoy with family and friends. Here are both teams' websites to see their upcoming schedules: www.shallotteshallywags.com and www.oakislandloggerheads.com
In our next episodes we will talk about how locals are housing some of the players who live out of town and about the technology you can see at West Brunswick High School to make the players better players while giving people more access to the games.

No events last weekend? No problem. On this week’s episode of Smash Factor, we’re gearing up for one of the biggest ULD throwdowns of the year—the East Coast Classic in Lovingston, VA. It’s all going down at Wood Ridge Farm Brewery, and you better believe the grid’s about to get torched.

Traveling Golfer June 2025 episode with Host Real John Daly takes you to four great courses on the Myrtle Beach Golf Trail: Crown Park, Diamondback, Shaftesbury Glen, and Wedgefield. Not only will you see great golf but fun facts like friendly squirrels and a ghost on the golf course. You can see it at www.travelergolfer.com
Another whacky round of golf highlights the fun and popularity of golf today. The Pork Butt Open is the brainchild of Joe Sande, who works in tech, loves golf and cooking. Each hole has a different restriction like: use only one club; use the putter once off the green; use the driver off a par-3. The game leads to hilarity and then Joe’s famous Smoked Pork Butt. You can watch the Pork Butt segment from Undercover Jetsetter here: https://player.wingding.watch/3QTM0gjM and you can get the recipe here: https://undercoverjetsetter.com/recipes/f/joes-famous-pork-butt
Enjoy it all.
