This week Stephanie and Kelsey of 612Brew came and had a beer with us! We learned about how each of them got into beer and landed at 612Brew and about the rebranding/relaunch of this now 6 year old brewery.  We sipped on the new "flagship" beer Mill City Pils and the original flagship Unrated while the ladies discussed their upcoming Wednesday Pint for a Cause on April 3rd for Global Response Management to give aid to those affected by the war in Yemen.  A dollar for every pint sold goes toward a different charity no matter what kind of beer you get! Stephanie & Kelsey also told us about new one-off beers they'll be canning monthly and how excited they are for Art-A-Whirl! *Bonus* An extra long outtake at the end with some tips on how to get your dog or cat to photograph well for Instagram!

Sara from Twin Cities Beer Choir sat down with us and discussed the awesome-ness that is group singing and beer drinking together!  Beer Choir Twin Cities hosts free events at breweries with an upcoming fundraiser on Saturday, Feb 9th "Galentine's Day!"  Proceeds will be going to Voices of Hope, a women's choir out of Shakopee, MN prison.  **Please Note** Due to some technical difficulties the interview was cut short, but please enjoy our discussion of beer choir and stouts.
Katie and Cathy get to interview the ever-amazing Ann Bobst.  Ann is the lead beertender at Tin Whiskers brewing and a committee member of the Craft Brewers Guild of MN as well as co-head social coordinator for the guild.  We try Tin Whiskers first ever sour and their Super St. Paul based Nut Goodie beer!
Katie & Cathy drink Lakefront Brewing from Milwaukee, WI and a special long bonus "What's Keeping Us Local" segment covering our AdVentCHAR at Rails & Ales year 3 (for us.)
Disclaimer: Explicit! We talk about some weird stuff too, so please know that this is all in good fun and we love everyone, especially our guest! WDB: The Lost files! Katie & Cathy sat down for a fun evening with Lucia, a sales rep for Sociable Cider Werks back in February right before Mardi Gras.  Since then Katie procrastinated, then the file was lost, then it was corrupted, then every time she tried to edit it, the file would corrupt again.  So here it is, in all it's glory, a 2.5 hour interview where we cover Beef with our sister podcast Drink In Geek Out, where Gordon Ramsey can put his beef (definitely in our lasagna) and of course how awesome Lucia is and her cidery home.
Episode 34: WarPigs

Episode 34: WarPigs

2018-08-3033:27

This week Katie and Cathy are the tangent express, especially Katie as we get toward the end.  Along with reviewing the elite collab beer by WarPigs Salmon Pants, Lazurite, and Foggy Geezer there's a love letter to Neil Gaiman, beer going places it shouldn't go, why you should keep your beer fresh, and a small rant about doing the MN State Fair right.  Also, singing . . . bad singing. Happy Birthday Paul McCollam!
Katie and Cathy talk to Allyson, co-lead brewer at Earth Rider Brewery in Superior, WI.  She talks about how she got in the craft beer and how her past experiences influences the directions she takes the beer she brews.  Follow Earth Rider @CedarLoungeBeer and follow Allyson @allysonrolph.
MKE Brewing Co (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is on the table this week.  Katie and Cathy try Outboard, O-Gii, MKE IPA, and Hop Freak. Need a refresher on what our color scale means?  This is also a good episode to listen to for that. Katie and especially Cathy suffer for you by turning off the AC for a cleaner recording, forcing the apartment to be very hot.  Which turned out to be in the beer’s benefit as they taste very refreshing in the heat. Listen to this episode and try these beers in summer!
What do frozen things do in summer?  With the arrival of summer comes a lot of beers that are only brewed in summer.  Join Katie and Cathy as they sample four beers that are awesome and fruity and oh so delicious.  This week’s beer includes: Hell or High Watermelon (21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco, CA), Mango Blonde (Lift Bridge Brewery in Stillwater MN), Blu Grain Belt, (Grain Belt / Shells in New Ulm, MN) and Short Pants Summer Shandy (BauHaus Brew Labs in Minneapolis, MN).  So find a patio, find some friends, and try these wonderful beers.
Episode 30: Evil Twin

Episode 30: Evil Twin

2018-06-2633:09

Katie and Cathy tackle Evil Twin, or, maybe, Evil Twin (based in Brooklyn but brewed all over the US) tackles Katie and Cathy.  Another beer-motional roller-coaster takes the two for a ride as they try Even More Pecan Pie Jesus, Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break, Tropical Super Itchy, I Always Felt Closer to IPAs than I did to People.
Katie and Cathy find the best of all worlds!  In this interview with Annie, owner of Forager Brewery (Rochester, MN) is a brew pub where everything in the tap room is all old foraged things.  Forager is clearly a love letter to Rochester and Katie and Cathy couldn’t stop gushing about the beer, (including the IPA!) and the tap room.
